Lucky escape Steve, that could have been so much worse. Hope you are healing and not still out of action. Bob Towalong TW has had a bit of a battering, normal crack. Feed the chipper a load of stones and rubbish until its blunt , when the chute starts to block up with stringy gear beat the granny out of it with a stick:thumbdown: Anyway set Mick Dundee on it With some heat ,patience ,an off cut of thickwall pipe and the hydraulic spreaders he managed to make the chute round again. And while he was at it he made the deflector adjustable. He trimmed up the thread on the pinch bolt so the handle ended up the other side of twelve o'clock so it cant rattle undone.

A truckist`s must have kit, PCL socket screwed into one of the air tanks, an air hose long enough to reach the furthest axle, a tyre inflater that locks on to the valve, a 20ton air jack and a 12/24 volt jump pack. When it was just the bowser it carried 1500 gallons of water + pumps,hoses and other clutter which was still within both axle weights. So I reckon close to or just over seven tons, will confirm this when I run it over a weighbridge Tom. Bob

Definitely a pull , this guy`s trailer was on its arse when he pulled out of here. I reckon he was over three ton on an 8x6 IW with 4` greedy boards. Bob

Slow down a bit Carl, we have a "climber" that has been four years in the making. Came to us with all the tickets as a climber but its only been in the last year that he has proven himself to the point we are confident we can send him out on his own with ground staff. I was watching him dismantle a windblown tree hung up in another that was littered with hazards in the drop zone and the penny dropped with me that he had matured into a proficient climber. Your boss has probably not spotted that spark or turning point yet, when he does trust me he wont feel the need for the ££££££££££££££ubby. Bob -
I have given up on the drill "sets", we have a few here using them and I have found all the common sizes get broken/lost or irretrievably blunt. Under 10mm you cant beat these boxes of hss drills which are typically the ones that get trashed. If you just want rid of it give it to someone thats uses red diesel, that kind of quantity would winterise 500 gallons of red. Bob

Dormer morse taper for sure on the mill or lathe from 1/2"up to 3" but some of the cheapy sets up to 13mm are not that bad. The cheapy blacksmith ( reduced shank) drills seem to be ok considering they are mainly used in the gut buster. These cheapy`s are used regularly ,as long as the pressure is kept on , ran at the correct speed and lube used them are ok. Its easy with these variable speed drills to end up running too fast and rub off the cutting edge.

Went and got my circular saw out of the shed the other day and found it like this, I dont suppose for one minute I will find out who did this but it does beggar belief. Bob

Winching in some leaning roadside trees the other day, I held the tree on the winch while one of the lads cut the gob and back cut. Barkers egg laid at nine o`clock , light wind ,slight drizzle, near knocking off time and totty walking dogs nearby. Whats it worth out of ten ?

As John say`s root protection zone. Its rather expensive by the time you fill them with stone but its rated for heavy plant and trucks. I will be in the office monday and see what it runs out at. Bob

tHere y0u 6o , ten year gaps there between big spends so they probably skimped and saved. It was only when they had the cash they had the work done. These days folk are still trying to arrange finance on projects like this a week before the builders are finished. Bod

No bearings on the TW as such, plastic bush in the roller one side and uses the stator motor the other, its the splined hub thats bolted into the roller with three allen bolts that needs slide hammering out. I have never done one yet thats not needed that, they are normally goosed anyway. I just pass a bit of old ratchet strap under the roller and lift them out, I dont find that a struggle. Bob
