Ask the tosser if he's got any more stuff for sale etc cash on hip, your starting up (they'll think you'll buy anything and haven't got a clue) get as much info as possible on the kit ie, serial no, years, damage distinctive marks etc. Ask for a viewing and go round with a couple of mates. Then drop the bombshell of its yours if your comfortable doing so. Plod alone will take so long, the kit will be sold, used and blown up by the time they get their arses in gear. It happened to a friend of mine last year with his br 600. Met them at Hilton services walsall, yellow transit blocked them in with his landy and soon had the blower back. That was sold via tree bay. I'm from wolverhampton myself so feel free to drop me a message if you need anything Also do no post any link to ebay item on here.
  2. £400 is a hell of alot of cash. It looks to be one of those harnesses that'll suit certain people. For me it's my sequoia with adjustable bridge. Light, comfy, nicely priced.
  3. I went back to using a prussik the other day and preferred it to my HC [emoji23] does anyone find the hitch climber or anything like that abit of a faff on ascent? I love the one hand tending on returning in from branch walking or taking up abit of slack but for ascent it's a pain
  4. I've a 12t "fox hunter" bearing press I bought off ebay for £90. Don't some nasty wheel bearings with it. Well earnt it's keep
  5. Yes it was on public road, a garage on the a5 dordon. So I thought legal. Must be more stupid 😂 Ford ranger, ifor trailer and a tw125 presumably attached by a towball on the trailer. It would have saved me dropping trailer off to come back for chipper on some jobs of my own. Not worth it though by the sounds of it
  6. I saw a tree team the other day with a ranger towing a trailer and chipper attached to the back via hitch? Are there any legality issues as this would solve alot of my problems if it's OK! Thanks
  7. I'm thinking of s/c transit and family runaround. I could borrow/hire a 4x4 if needs be. I've had a look around and I rekon I could get a half decent one for 4/5k.
  8. I was hoping to buy a pickup before the conversation for the odd jobs I get. I'd IDEALLY have both as I wouldn't lose the family aspect of a vehicle like I would if I just had a van. The van would be more worthwhile though as it's mainly domestic work rarely going off the beaten track

  10. Hi Kev, I'm on nowhere near 200 a day PAYE. Thanks for the reply, just trying new things as I've always said I don't think I would be able to start a business up from scratch, I was kind of hoping this to be a nice chance at a nice start to my own setup being (almost) guaranteed a slight bit of income without trying to compete with a million others.
  11. Hi all, me and my boss had a chat the other night and as he knows eventually I will more than likely fly the nest, he proposed I get a van, a lad and sub to him. Does this sound a good idea? I would probably be using his 150 chipper, so I'm good for a chipper until I can afford one myself. I'm hoping to be charging around 350 per day. Does this seem too steep? Could anyone do me a rough idea of take home from that price. I know it's difficult to say but I've just been on arbrisk insurance and haven't recieved a quotation straight away so I haven't really got an idea of insurance prices etc. I'm hoping around 200 per day wage. Does that seem doable? Any advice appreciated I'm abit clueless as I've been PAYE for 5 years. Thanks Forgot to mention all kit bar chipper would be mine and in Staffordshire
  12. I tried an aftermarket chain brake handle on my ms390. It broke after one day, but caused alot of other damage as a section broke off and jammed the mechanism cracking the plastic casing of the saw. Now I have to run the saw without a brake. I wouldn't recommend personally
  13. Definitely prove you were cloned. It's happening alot more than people realise. Cctv along the route showing the vehicle, which wont match logbook, specs from manufacturer showing top speed etc, and take it to court. You really need photographic proof of a different vehicle on the route with your plates
  14. I've had arbortec, stihl, sip and husky. In order of time they lasted; Arbortec (2 years) Sip innovation (18 months to present) Husky technical (1 year) Stihl advance (3 months ) Looking at a pair of the stein extremes but are they hi vis all the way down back of leg?
