  1. Forgot about the very Dear John David Semi retired but its 6 pot diesel is still OK to power a mulcher and beat up a bit of gorse when needed. Bob
  2. I reckon its worth making up a light board for the front with the headlamps and indicators, it could go on a seven pin trailer socket. Some blurb on heights etc Transports Friend - Lights and Positioning
  3. The Drott is still pushing up fires and dozing piles of crap , forward blowing fan so just give it a rev and you have the equivalent of half a dozen leaf blowers. Nuffield still goes out ride swiping and mowing the odd paddock The Nuffield winch tractor still in regular use pulling trees over 100` pop full of wind going the wrong way Gone

  5. Pete the pcv port on the carb is for sucking fumes out of the engine, needs to be piped up to the rocker covers. Nothing on the carb gets piped to the inlet manifold. Bob
  6. I am turning in now so numbered them for you from the bible. 1 . goes to any pcv, if not used plug it. 2. and 3. get linked but your choke has gone so assume 3 has a plug in it. 4 . goes to the adv/ret on the dizzy 5. goes to any vac controlled gizmo`s on yank cars so plug it. Any brake vac needed would have to come straight off the manifold. Bob
  7. Which pipe are we talking about Pete? Scribble an arrow on this http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=215449&stc=1&d=1483131618
  8. Guilty here of being a V8 nut, found my Holley bible so if you can get some numbers off it I will see if there any references for that model. Dont fret about the chokes being removed, two or three stabs of the throttle prior to cranking will have put enough fuel in there to fire it up and run a modern car for a week . Most Holley carbs are generic replacements and will have PCV and other vac ports that are used on other apps. Bob
  9. You are a bad man H For all you tightwads out there one litre of veg oil mixed with 10% acetone is a home made heavier version of maintenance oil. Veg oil is about £1 a litre and acetone about £6 a litre . You can play with the ratio a bit and use it in one of those hand held sprayers . That works out at about £1.60p a litre which makes those spray cans look very expensive. I have started to use Rye oils own brand , they call it easing oil but its basically maintenance fluid. Seems good but its early days so the jury are still out. Bob
  10. I think you must have got a wrongun on the phone, some of them are clueless. I have done a few over the years and they have been free to register and tax, it was all made easy when they had dvla offices dotted about and a person sat in front of you that knew his stuff. Anyway they have all been shut so you need tick box V55/5 and v355/5 ( I think) in here.............. https://forms.dft.gov.uk/order-dvla-forms/ Bob
  11. Its simple to register tractors and machinery, its not the same can of worms that apply to cars. All you need is proof of purchase, proof of year of manufacture if you want age related plates , go with a q if you cant, insurance , the relevant dvla form and thats it. Bob
  12. Not worth putting a wheel on the road without insurance, it does not need to be your fault for things to go horribly wrong. Bob
  13. Sneaking into bed with the mother inlaw he must be Sur Reptitious. I will get my coat. Bod
  14. Five days of the inlaws Two days max here and I am ready to hang myself. The mother in law had what I believed to be a wart on her chin but on closer inspection it turned out to be a grease nipple. Bob

  18. These plastic socket organisers are worth a mention, available in AF and metric. 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive. Grab the right socket at a glance even if your peepers are on their way out. Bob
  19. At the end of the track is the site of JB`s new SM fetish dungeon Surveyors came out in the week to mark this lot out with some fancy laser/gps driven gizmo. Our lads dug out the footings and poured 100 tons of concrete.
  20. Get creative and fit a pto shield over the top of it. Maybe trim off the shaft on the reversing box and flange it like below. Where there is a will and all that http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=215132&stc=1&d=1482397658
  21. Another vote for the Ranger. Worth checking for tin worm and a dodgy gearbox before parting with the hard earned. Bob
