  1. I fail to see how the government could possibly find the manpower to sift through this astronomical amount of information and make use of it. And for what? Television is another Not in front of the telly: Warning over 'listening' TV - BBC News Bob
  2. Reminds me of this Peter:001_smile: [ame] [/ame]
  3. I had a Desta, that thing had a diff lock and providing it never sank it would clamber about on any loose surface, CZ made machine and are cheap compared to others of a similar spec . I ran that for about ten years before making the mistake of going to a Hyster, that difflock is the all important feature with this type of forklift in a "yard" environment . Bob
  4. I would have thought a ton carrying capacity, if you find it swaying about a bit go for the HD rollbars. Our landy cherry picker is the lions share of 3 ton and is not that bad on the road when you consider that the weight is so high, that said you would not want to go bowling into a roundabout to quickly. Bob
  5. A storeman or storechick is the answer, we had the least damage/losses to kit when we had a fulltime storeman come vehicle washer come yard bod employed. When kit is allocated out and checked in you can nip things in the bud, it becomes pretty obvious who the main culprits are. I need a new one, the old one has gone on tramp. Bob
  6. I would remove the idle jet (E)on page 27 and give it a blast with compressed air. http://www.kohlerengines.com/onlinecatalog/pdf/17_690_01_EN.pdf Bob
  7. Considering the potential risk to the public you would have thought the council would have removed all the vehicles out of there or at the very least blocked off the road. Bob

How was the truck advertised? Bob

    Dodgy truck

A very big lever indeed, I purchased a truck a few years ago with a fresh MOT that was about a grands worth of work away from being roadworthy. It was only when it went on our ramps for a service a month later that it became apparent the MOT was dodgy, a quick phone call to the MOT station threatening to involve VOSA had them quaking in their boots. They never even got to see the truck and paid up straight away, they knew they had let it through for a mate and obviously valued their testing license more than the few quid it took to sort the issue. Bob
  10. On the subject of magnets this cheapy torch magnet has proved really useful , the telescopic magnet is on a short flex gadget so can go around corners. Made by laser tools Laser 4589 6 Led Flashlight & Magnetic Pick Up Tool Really Useful | eBay And these chain grab hooks are also a gem for making up short bits of useable chain from odd bits. They come in different sizes so worth checking you chain link diameters. BUY 4 Drop Forged 5/16" Grab Hooks with Clevis Pin for Chains
  11. Has to be clearing motorway banks at night, its normally eight hours work for the team crammed into six . Then to be told TM is going on later because of the high car count so then down to four and then comes the rain Bob
  12. The same way none of us would sit in an office in the summer, Bob
  13. A great shame , leaving a wife and children. Gabe was not big on self preservation though, no seat belt on at the time of the head on crash , he was the only fatality out of six others involved and stuff like this .......................... http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=214033&stc=1&d=1479589500
  14. Does cladding the office count? Bob
  15. Next time you buzz down some conifer you know where to take it Bob
  16. That looks the same as a Walterscheid unit, you should be able to buy the clutch drum separately. If not machine the drum face and weld a truck flange to the front that has the same size UJ. Bob PTO Drive shaft clutches | gkn-walterscheid.de Page 135 in here Spare-Parts-Catalog-2010
  17. Top tether and I would also fit some runners under the feet like a sledge, it will stop it digging into tarmac ,sinking in soft ground and ripping/bending the legs off if the tractors gives it a nudge. Just thoughts. Bob
  18. We use subbies with sidearm flails on occasions and the rates seem quite consistent, depending on machine size and reach they vary from £250- £325 a day , they fuel themselves for that. Bob
  19. No leaks on mine, its had a new waterpump, the coolant hoses have all be flushed out, antifreeze, serviced and its still a load of poop. Keep it inside and give it a few minutes ticking over all is ok. When I get another diesel forklift I will film this ones demise. Bob
  20. I think must have been a victim of predictive text, its your worst enema. Bob
  21. Very nice woodworks. Bob
  22. I dont think she will be swapping her precious Scania for a shipping container with air holes in it No the Vettes not mine .
  23. On the subject of blue paint:thumbup1: Got me an FL220 hurban artic ( thats what the guy said it was) for running the smaller kit about. Just need to trim down a few trailers to go with it., 23ton gross so should have about fifteen ton payload. Bob Should be painted by next week
  24. As Catweazle points out the coolant does need to be topped up but adding antifreeze wont change the temperature , minus five is minus five irrespective of fluid types. These trucks are made for inside use like warehouses and just dont like the cold, I have had to use the heat gun and blow torches before now to get it going but by far the best way is to keep it inside or covered up, if I can find a s/h webasto coolant heater I will fit that. Its also very greedy on gas, I am buying two bottles a month which come to about £70 vs £50 worth of diesel for the year in the one I got rid of ( big mistake ) Gas Hyster`s are the work of satan Bob
  25. Dave the things are a ballache, The only way you will get any winter use out of it is to turn the tickover up a bit and allow it to idle for ten minutes before you use it. Touch the throttle without getting some heat into it and it will ice up. Our one now lives inside but the same applies, at the very least sheet it up when not in use. Bob Is it like ours?
