  2. Most on here would have seen badly or wrongly installed bracing of both types flapping around in the wind . We have braced large diameter trees with a combination of both, we have used 20ton wide lifting slings coupled to steel rope. Both have a life and will need checking perodically , none of it is fit and forget. Bob

  6. Trying to sell sticks for milling on site is hard work and seldom finds buyers for even a fraction of the real value inside a contracts timeframe . Its far better to get them back to the yard and make up loads then let the sawmills know whats available. Transport on part loads kills deals. Bob

  9. E6z its going in a six acre private lake for a month or two to winch out all the willow and general crap and commotion with the view to chip as much as possible up the banks. Then into the Thames for the rest of the year clearing up stuff hanging into the water around moorings. Its a narrowboat we converted about fifteen years ago. I have got a fair bit of floating Arby stuff, I will post up some pics of it. boD

  11. Not a bad day, spent a few hours on SSAspen prior to chucking it into the drink next week. Ran it up and checked it for any oil leaks on the hiab, winch and chipper. Bob

  13. How does that work? Our mog has a throw over lever like an air handbrake control for the PTO. Is the gubbins and trickery on the winch itself? Bob
  14. Same sort of thing, a one stop shop with helpful guys GS Products - Marine Grade Stainless Steel Chain, Fittings & Rope Worth including the 24mm turnbuckle. Bob
  15. Mog hydraulics are not up to much so I would go PTO. Down side is you cant go remote. Bob

  20. Gray we fitted the 1.6 ratio transfer box to ours which made a huge difference to the way it got off the line.They are cheap and available because no one else wants them. Bob
  21. Using a broker is the answer, we have loads of oddball kit and our broker has managed to get insurance on all of it. Some have needed photos but by and large the mods just need explaining properly to the underwriters. Online is hopeless Bob
