1. I know its been covered before but gear is always evolving…so here we go again….. thinking of a tree motion or tree motion lite…. pros and cons….please im 6' tall and 32 inch waist, bordering on skinny, with No fat on hips, so finding the top of hip bones getting sore in the heat, srt for most if not all work, but i spend a fair bit of time on the ground as well, so in and out of harness a lot….also on the spikes….. Is there a better choice, don't mind spending top money for the right choice… Opinions please lads! Hope you are all busy, climb safe, have fun:thumbup:
2. de barking tool used be available widely, try honey bros or lister wilder, bought a new one some time ago, its a good work out, but they do a neat job, spades are too flexible and can dig in, even with a debarked you need the right angle……. once you get in the swing of it you will fly it, used strip all sorts for x-country fences ….. best of luck, hope the nippers enjoy your efforts!
3. He was the `man!
4. pity the second weight is missing….have a chunk of steel on mine…. couldn't live without it….. best old tool there is…..
5. your right rovers 90….injector loom is a service item… not expensive, but often over looked, abs is a pain…won't own anything with abs…. lethal off road for towing… and very problematic if you spend a lot of time in mud….
6. Hi Steve! Like any lr, keep up on servicing, they are at an age where parts are reasonable, readily available, and if you have any modicum of "spannerology" then you can do it all yourself, things to look out for on body are corrosion around windscreen, also doors and rear doorframe top and bottom, chassis ….well thats self explanatory, but especially rear end as the oil leaks don't protect that end so much:001_rolleyes: Drivetrain, slack in system when taking off….. if it clunks…… Badly that is then start with "diff play" and work your way towards transfer box…. but lets face it they are the same set up as the defender but higher ratios, so loads of room for tweaking all aspects, if you find it a bit of a struggle towing, throw in a defender transfer box…… they take a beating like the defender but in comfort, economy 18-28 mpg if you are lucky….. i often get 13 towing... LOVE EM,HATE EM…… Depends on your outlook on life…..
7. Oops! my bad! Sorry have kubota v2203, also was thinking of that, yeah the 4jb1 is a bit big for your job!
8. Have a 4jb1 for sale, excellent nick, about 200 hours on it if its any good to you,pm if interested…..
9. Smaller hammers give better shock for loosening bolts, sotry something around 16 or 20 ounces and give each one a good sharp belt…. mind the eyes! and fingers, hit it like you hate it! then try 1/4 turn clockwise, then work away anti clockwise ….. failing that mapp gas or oxy….. if your still stuck pop wheel and hub off and heat from behind ,also brake fluid is great for getting into heated threads….. Good luck!
10. Well got 11mm…Wow! Fast and sharp! loving it! mind you had a few bt moments at the start on a decent:blushing: oh and my knee ascender came in at last, so well sorted, able to concentrate on the working hand and not on avoiding self induced line malfunctions! a lot more confidence in my system now!
11. :thumb up:very handy for finding the way home too…...
12. As above, but even the adaptor on those can give gyp! But the pumping end is faultless, they are great on track tensioning in the field…. and freeing out pin bush nipples:thumbup:
13. Hi William, did the head swop to a friends 200,talk about grunt and speed! and you have the nice layout of pipes etc….. i would recommend a larger intercooler too……they love cold air so the more the better! As for td5…. have one, love it to bits but when they meet a hill…. dies a death…. my 300tdi tipper does 87mph up hill down dale loaded or empty, pump is tweaked, but still playing with the fine tuning of it…. to be honest, empty on back roads its suicidal, the 130" were never meant to travel at those speeds…. but it is fun! Fully loaded,Just shy of 5.5 cube of chip, and she is a boat, but only fill her that full if i am staying off roads or popping down the road:001_rolleyes: 3" exhaust?Yup! why not? sounds Great and if you have more air in then you have to have more air out …. after all an engine is just an air pumps why restrict it…..
14. count your fingers after each cut
15. pull the head and fit 300 tdi head, with turbo ect, get fuel pump from fly by wire disco auto (300 tdi) swop the fly by wire bit for your original set up , larger intercooler a must and silicone pipes and hey presto…. she will eat road, don't put in the disco transfer box if you do a lot of towing…… they are gutless starting off…. you will spend half your time in low box!
16.
Hey Hertswood,do you still have the landy ag tyres?if sowhat size are they and what are you looking for them?thanks Jase
