  1. How did you get on with the shocks Jon? I had +2 pro comps on the crew cab 110, double shocks all round, was a good set up but 14 months on 3 are leaking and need replacing..... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk while dossing!
  2. Ditto! Except it took me ages to get round to ding mine! Great security though😆no sooner had the grips been put back in the toolbox than a brake cylinder went and out it came again, and onto the relevant flexi pipe!
  3. yeah good pulling and good anchor, might split the winch off, see if i can use it on something else, while i work on tractor, its not on lift arms, so not sure yet, but will be a nice bit of kit when it is tidied up! cab is fairly shot, front wheels are too small, backs are fine, but may not take much abuse,, over all looks worse than it is!

  8. In all fairness, we all do things our own way, and as we all know, we have tricks to make life easier, and I do not think it is fair to second guess what appears to be a fairly competent crew, they know their local timber and limits and tolerances , and made onsite decisions, so it worked, there did not seem to be any excessive movement other than the usual stem movement. As long as some numpty does not try to copy him on an unsuitable species /diseased tree ! I always am curious about alternate methods, but certainly would not consider copying him, I prefer unmolested stems, God knows I have worked on some hairy trees over the years, no point in adding more doubt to the integrity of a tree you are working on.... Now if I was tied into another tree..... I would hack away like a monkey on speed😆
  9. Force of habit really😝👍👍
  10. Its down to the climber on the day, type and state of stem, also gobs are shallowin relation to thickness of stem..... wouldn't be doing it in your average ash:lol:
  11. anything from 4.45to 5. 30 i try for 530 but mondays i could be awake at 4.... aagh....best to get up and at it..... big mug of tea and out on the bench doing saws an chains, check climbing gear and rigging gear, run pricings and methods through the head , try remember who needs ringing, who needs chasing up for "whatnot"..... make lists for week....ie parts , Today , made it to 545....;-) hen thrush woke me ... lovely alarm call, so forcing myself to relax till 9, then collect 110 and go stick a new diff in the front, its been trying to calve for the last month, i guess it has only another couple of miles i n it so better to do it today as it pains me to knowingly go out and use something that will break.......Maybe this should be in the "so you want to be a " thread...... Ah well i don't really mind the early mornings at least the phone won't ring before 8:-))
  12. If you use a resistor it Is a Fire source...... Get a rdx replacement relay off eBay the can be attenuated to give proper flash frequency, about 30 quid, if like me you have 4 or 5 trailers it is cheaper plus they still work with incandescent bulbs!
  13. For sure Jon, car cut me up a few years ago on roundabout , I actually drove over the bonnet in the110"... Had2.5 tons of timber behind me,, she claimed she did not see me.... Funniest part was no damage to mine just loads of mud fell off👍😝

  16. Yeah, love the attitude, "sheer it's only "the. Tops of branches" and they are fecked in an awful mess of a pile! So I usually get them to try pulling out a few branches, they soon realize their dilemma! Looked at a diy mess yesterday, 35 foot lellandi's in 50 foot garden, all dropped into the middle, 3 sets of power lines damaged,5phone lines damaged, all crossing each other, 😡 No access, bar 24" gap at side, kerchinggggg€€€€€€€👍👍👍
