  1. Ragwort is a cumulative toxin, in that eating a few bits won't do any harm, as mentioned above it takes a fair amount to start spasms, the first indicator, just remember like the fox glove it has its place in ecology, and spraying " willy nilly" for what ever you fancy has severe implications, manual Managment is preferable, I have worked with horses and cattle most of my life and seen a fair amount of Ragworth, but with Managment of grazing ground it has never been an issue, I would think at this time of year pulling is the way to go, as any stalks left in situ will wither and that is the window of maximum risk for ingestion, If you are desperate cut and burn for this year and start a new regime when they come back up, Keep in mind I am no expert, just someone who has safely managed the weed for decades... 2. Even better😝 pass the mint sauce🌿🍴
  3. Can't beat hand pulling, preferably a day after rain, it might seem mad but once you get the knack it's quick and even a heavily infested acre can be cleared by one man a day, the following season you will only have to pull a handful of plants, wear gloves though! 12. With the weather we are having this summer I have used a Jcb micro 1000kg, as an anchor for access to a few jobs, saves tearing the hell out of the ground, just drop the blade full depth and hook Landrover on to top of blade with a bridle and off you go, straight pull winch only, no probs! Digger settles in by a few inches only..... Pull angle is about 35 degrees uphill... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk while dossing!
  13. Used to play it in Switzerland, 10 players 10 nails, "nagen" Rules each takes a turn, last one to bury the nail buys next round, last one has 5 goes to bury nail,if you miss; lose a piece of clothing,; you designate a hand to play with if you change hands lose a go, best with knotty hardwood ,local rules will vary, but that's the jist of it Hammer is local type, a bit like a geologist hammer, Great Craic! 15. What a legend! And let's face it he had a parachute, so the odds of anything going wrong were equal to or less than a quick drive to the shops. He must walk with a John Wayne swagger though cause he has some nuts on him👍🏻 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk while dossing!
  16. What is the ISO rating of the oil what prefix and suffix? Get to know the info, why do the manufacturer recommend? In short if it is clean and there no condensation issues then extend your service intervals What does the oil look like when you remove it? If you really want to know if it is necessary send a sample off for testing, and open up the filter.... That way you can amend your service schedule to suit, Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk while dossing!
  17. Would think changing the filter on a properly maintained closed hydraulic system to be a waste of money. If you are mindful of filter material in breather(clean it regularly, ) use a clean container to top up the system, and are using a good anti corrosion / wear /high temp oil, and the oil does not overheat or varnish, then you will apart from run in service be ok! I have read up on this and while manufacturers of machines will recommend low service hours for hydraulics,(100 hrs??????? that would be a handy week on some gear) If the above is adhered too you should have a spotless system, therefore no need to change filters, however if you let the usual crap that is found around any filler neck/cap to blow in or the swallow sh:t and dust on the oil container, then good luck,! Because you really will make mince meat of the hydraulics, Last year I cooked the oil in a hydraulic pack, it went brown(varnished) .... So took it back to the workshop stripped it down flushed it changed the filter washed the tank put it back into service, (oil cooler was well blocked, and not big enough from first day) cut old filter open , and apart from the brown staining from the oil was immaculate, I have heard of pumps ruined by continuing to run with varnished oil, so a quick dissemble showed all to be in order, There were 4500 approx hrs on that unit with only one filter change after run in, and the oil was replenished after breaks in the units she was driving, More damage is done by not priming the pumps motors, ie; starting them without oil being run through them manually. In short keep the system clean and keep a close eye on it! God I do go on a bit ,but lessons learned through trial error and research, hope this helps! 24. "When I were a young lad we lived in a box in the middle of the road"⏳😂 I started out with a 3rd hand leather pole harness and spikes that would literally eat your legs away , still have them to remind me of where I started , pull out the harness for conny hedges as it is so low profile, But compared to my tm2 it is a torture machine, respect to those who came before the advent of dedicated climbing gear! We are spoiled for choice in this regard, and I can never stop buying new gear to play with , ahem.... I mean work with 😎 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk while dossing!
  25. It is not unreasonable to expect members to keep a civil tone, sure we can all let fly in the real world, but as when you are with a client, you moderate your words, I believe that is the issue, there are plenty of words you could use so as not to infringe on forum rules, and still make your feelings known. What's the point in getting people's backs up anyway? Move on, your knuckles were rapped, you made it a public issue! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk while dossing!
