  1. :biggerGrin:baby oil for skin….don't see why it wouldn't work on painted surfaces… white spirit deffo good for it on painted surfaces…. baby oil might be an issue on windscreens though!
  2. 1.rubber suction pads with stalks on them….. drill 3 holes for 3 stalks stick the stalks in dampen suction cups and place glass on top…. id guess craft shop a good place to start, 2get glass drilled and counter sunk…..screw down 3 epoxy resin? would look naff imo……!
  3. What rope are you using in your uniscenders? which do you find best? Hows the wear rate? Thanks
  4. Do my own, biggest worry is keeping them cool, and checking weight so they balance well, finish them off on india oil stone with light oil seriously sharp, Have old blades for nasty stuff…. and charge well for them….
  5. Yes Jon, what is the deep dish boost alloy rating? Chris welcome to a different life, including sore right elbow wet from the knees down and not giving a damn!
  6. Got the same out of the last 3 sets of old pattern bfg mt,on the one 110 van back and crew cab, bought the new pattern for the crew cab, 22k up and still looking good, but doubt "they "will make the 80 k…. Thinking of getting boost deep dish alloys for the 130 tipper do you reckon they will be good enough for the weight? 5.5 cube box on the back…..
  7. Good Lad!!!!! Glad to see responsible behavior, thank you for sharing the experience! Safe and Happy Work assured by karma ;-)
  8. Thanks Silky!kinda proud of my efforts:thumbup: Got it back from the Galvanizer's….. brilliant finish, only had to polish off with paper, so will be putting it to work tomorrow,A bit peeved they drilled 6mm holes in the caps….. had i Known i would have drilled them dead center, not on the edge, meh! Looking forward to trying it out properly! When i get a chance I will drop it to the powder coaters, will post the bollard in action tomorrow!
  9. Sounds like cut off issue, had same with jcb micro, works 98% of the time, traced it to wires where they go into the shut off solenoid, cracked inside insulation just where they go into the solenoid, give it a wiggle while running, if it dies thats your problem…..,hope this helps! so,frustrating, felt like getting out the firelighters:cussing:
  10. Got busy bank holiday monday knocking together a dual bollard, late finish, lots of hand polishing, testing with 19mm rope, tweaking of fairlead lengths, tuesday evening stress testing no problems, so decided to glass bead blast it,(looks awesome) and galvanize it…… collecting today hopefully, praying it won't be a snotty one….. more pics to follow… debating the virtues of powder coating? For looks really, cost? Well a morning of my Skills to my good mate for his welding, materials prob 20 quid's worth, but in reality just what was lying around the workshop, and lots of finishing, and a new set of straps, basic design with the ability to up grade later, decided against a lifting arm as a couple of pulleys and prussic take less space, only oversight was rubber blocks, but that is easy to sort, slots are in place….! more to follow….
  11. Brilliant….going tout it in tiny print on my shirts…..:thumb up:
  12. IMO Looks like horse and pony damage to me, they can strip off all the bark they can reach, usually in spring and autumn they never ring the bark always one side! If the damage is over 8 or 10 foot high then probably fire damage…… damage looks like 20 plus years old to me…...
  13. Spot on Dean, as it stands i have 5 saws to "repair" that the dealers couldn't be bothered with or wanted too much to fix….. can't even walk in and buy a carb kit round here….. pathetic, i hold more spares than the dealers……ffs! ridiculous !
  14. Sorry lads but this is not a consumer issue really,Imean Lets face itits a dealer problem…. unless the saws sold online are falling out the back door in Germany Stihl is selling them to someone at discounted prices.they then sell on on the internet! Am i correct? So it should not be an issue for us but for their own political structure. It is another greedy company trying to screw every penny they can out of us, I will buy a saw and maintain it myself, because there is not a competent service to do this, i have to wait 3 weeks to have parts arrive to my dealer, who will not tell me they are in, not bad feelings just lazy, when the parts do come they are usually incorrect, So i buy the parts online and have them as quick as i like on my doorstep, and they are exactly what i ordered….. Do you know why this works? Because the guy on the internet knows how to run a cost effective business. Now don't get me wrong but we have had a change in dealership in the area and i asked about parts, his reply which i completely understand was how could i stock parts for all the models for the last 10 years? so what is a guy to do? I cannot tell a customer sorry you will have to wait 3 weeks as i need parts…. id be out the gate on my ear, probably to a guy with a Husky! Another classic example Would be a yellow digger company that starts with J and ends with b…. I cannot for the life of me get the correct parts from the National agents, but with the same info the uk office can procure the right parts in 1/4 the time and 30 percent cheaper after currency conversion, all from my phone… Survival of the fittest… if you want to Play a serious game you have to have a serious team. and I do not care about company policy i Will Buy where I get SERVICE. Not where some paper pusher tells me. i am getting really annoyed with this purely because of the lazy ineptitude of individual dealers. Not all just some…… Apoligies to all the good guys out there it is not aimed at you just the bad eggs!
  15. Had the first arrivals last Sunday,Had to throw up a few ledges to compensate for re furbished building, they used them, so delighted!
  16. Hear hear:thumbup:
  17. Ah i Knew that Jon, :thumb up: Seriously though if there was a book on how to ruin a a Brand name……hehe!
  18. Not me i presume, :001_tt2:have to say posing as a genuine consumer is a tad off(being polite here), I am still trying to determine if you are taking the piss? i actually think online sales are a good thing, they help keep every one on their toes,it is a competitive market,we pay top money for all our kit, if you can maintain your own gear as you should, then by pass the middleman, As an industry it is one of the strictest regulated with certification, testing, inspection, on site harassment, sorry meant spot checks by h+s. Replacement kit is expensive, most operators probably run thousands if not hundreds of thousands of pounds of gear,so are we not entitled to buy where we like? As a Stihl user I would think if Stihl want to get pissy about this issue it will hurt them over time, Questions, 1. Are other manufacturers following suit 2.What is the EU consumer law in relation to this move? 3.My local dealer has online sales,he has known me for years, you are saying cannot purchase online to save time and diesel? you must be having a laugh. 4. Buying a saw off ebay will contravene this policy? Best of luck sorting that one…. Even though it is no biggie it still gets my back up,another anilin the coffin of a free market…….
  19. Is this to protect the dealer market/pricing or is it to protect the consumer from their stupidity?
  20. might check the spark arrestor too…..i always start with the simple stuff, the arrestors can strangle a perfect engine….
  21. Tbh,im stocking up on the truck connectors, i run 4 trailers, chipper and 2 jeeps 1 van at the moment, had a 7.5ton as well but got fed upon it not fitting in gates, but i keep several spare 7 pin plugs sockets and flyleads, all lights are led,so now all my time is wasted fixing 7pin leads etc…. This year fitted cameras to each tow hitch for ease hitching at awkward angles and a wide angle for panoramic reversing, next steps cameras on all trailed gear and reversing lights, with beepers also, so that would require the extra pin for reverse light and 2more for camera,(wireless ones get a lot of interference ) so :HGV Direct truck and trailer parts online - ELECTRIC SUSIE SOCKET 15 PIN ISO 12098 is what will be fitting…..going to cost a bit to start but i would say once fitted it will make life bearable, these are very durable and you can wire in plug outlets on trailers for beacons etc with ease…. I had the 7 pin hgv type on the 7.5 ton and never had to fiddle with them….. nuff said!
  22. Unlessy ou have a very modern trailer, under two years old,you will have to upgrade the wiring as older ones won't have the purple reverse wire. Easiest way is to buy suitable length of 8 core wire and replace, On Ifor Williams its a piece of p.ss! They have junction boxes under the chassis, these are very easy to work with,so easy and durable that i cut out my rear wiring on the 130 put in a few of these and re wired….so totally protected form the elements, takes a few seconds to open and check any problems… IFOR WILLIAMS TRAILER LIGHTING BRITAX 10 WAY JUNCTION BOX 12/24 VOLT | eBay ifor williams 8 core wire | eBay Remember its only a matter of time until we have to have reverse lights anyway(Standard on new trailers already,so might as well start conforming,at least if you back into someone and have to claim then having reverse lights may be brownie points in your favour…..
  23. Hitting 50 and climbing more and more, happiest I've been in years, had climbers working for me,got "buddies" in, but if you want a job done properly…….and i turn up when i say i will…… pulled my finger out a good few years ago and got up in the canopies…. best move i ever made! go for it!
  24. Have to say i agree with "Splinters"marking your territory is the best defense, will deter them from entering your property….. just don't get caught or you may be branded a perv Just pee at gaps, gates, anywhere you think the fox will try gain access! Unless you are a good shot and Competent with a firearm would not recommend venturing into that territory,it will only lead to grief. As for the rspca….. don't get me started on them…..they should really drop the "P" i used lower case for their title because they do not merit Capitals imo!
  25. :001_unsure:Hi Jon,not yet, been too busy, might get it over this week (hopefully)
