  1. Hi Woodgirl, TVI lives and works deep in rural suffolk - phone signal is poor and I think broadband is still of the windup type..... I've just taken delivery of a Pressvess retort - single barrel to a Specification drawn up and agreed with the designer of all Pressvess Retorts - the great Nick Harris. It's being commissioned next week by Nick, so once up and running if you'd like to come and look, please let me know. Matt
  2. Hi Richard, Steve / All, The firebox is lined with fire bricks. Insulation is 100mm ceramic blanket There is a vent hole in the the retort chamber from the firebox - on the right hand wall at the top (not in photo) I was lucky with funding, used a business loan for the match funding and got a very good rate from my business bank at a fixed rate for 7 years (fixed as you don't know what will happen to interest rates in the next couple of years. Also got an investor / business angel on board to help with the project - lots of groundwork to get but paying off now.
  3. Hi Steve & Richard, With delivery to my yard in Hertfordshire, the Retort was £15350 + VAT, this also included 2x 1m3 cooling bins as well. I went with standard thickness steel (10mm boiler plating) for long life; you can choose 6mm but obviously life expectancy will be reduced. My retort weighs about 3 tonnes. I got a 40% RDPE grant towards the project (this is net of VAT) - so about £7K. It gets commissioned next week by Nick Harris from 4seasonsFuels. As you can see, the right crane truck operator can site it where you want it.
  4. With regard to burned out retorts, I'd say talk to Nick Harris. He's just retired a retort after 15 yrs service, he said it could have gone on for a few more years if he had been desperate.
  5. Hi Steve, Best bet with regard to Pressvess is talk to the designer of all of their retorts - Nick Harris at Four Seasons Fuels, what he doesn't know about retorts and charcoal couldn't be written down on a nanobots knee. I talked budgets with Nick and then decided on the Specification I wanted. Build time is about 12 - 14 weeks, depending on the spec, size etc. I decided that for me, a single barrel retort was the best way forward to start - and if demand is there, I can upgrade to a double barrel retort later. This was the retort at Christmas, just before the holiday shutdown.. Matt
  6. I had a husky outfront mower 10 yrs ago - piece of cr*p. Bought a Kubota F3060 & F3660 instead, both with trimax flail decks. Never looked back until 2 years ago when the business changed direction and we bought an Irus Deltrak
  7. I've used one - it's ok for lightweight stuff. But for series bramble bashing you need hydraulic drive, hammer or delta flails and about 30hp.... I own one of these now.....
  8. Can't go wrong with either a Kubota G21, G23 or G26
  9. Look for Local Area Groups or LAGS - they distribute European RDPE grant funds. We were awarded a 40% grant last November towards a project. Leave the "grant companies" alone.
  10. My single barrel Pressvess Retort is delivered this week 🙃😁
  11. Don't know anything about the Spider RC mower, but I have an Irus Deltrak which is far superior as it's tracked and has a HD flail deck.. doesn't need a winch to get up slopes like the Spider Mowers do....
  12. LR Defender 130, put air assist springs on the back, so you can alter the ride depending on whether the tipper is empty or loaded / towing. It will hold its value better than a Japanese 4x4, and parts / servicing are more readily available and in some cases cheaper. A Defender is true mechano kit. And the still the Best4x4xfar with the best payload of them all......
  13. I'd rather use my Irus Deltrak, than sit on a mower on unstable slopes 25+ degrees. Safety first ALWAYS. http://horticman.co.uk/irus-deltrak
  14. Has it got a cab? What's the bhp figure - is it 84bhp? Tyre size?
  15. Or just import one into the uk. Or just by a defender on Tibus hubs....
  16. Screwfix do a great range of spill kits and spill mats. Very reasonably priced as well.
  17. S/h Kubota G18, G21 or G23
  18. Used to work for a company in the 90's that charged £150 + VAT min call-out, which inc 2 diameter ft, then every additional ft was £12.50 + VAT, travel round trip @ £1 + VAT / mile.
  19. If the rows are about 48" wide, my Irus Deltrak tracked mower would love a good bramble bash!
  20. Call Andy Mason at Mason Tree Contractors, mobile: 07831-359602 or 07846-590254
  21. As a Grown in Britain assured woodfuel producer/trader, I sell Verdo woodfuel pellets but only by the full pallet. Used to sell partial pallets and multiples of 10 but it proved uneconomical.
  22. Equestrian pellets contain more dust / fines that woodfuel pellets DONT USE

    Laptops

Best laptop is my current one - Apple MacBook Pro, bought on the Apple refurb portal top of range with upgrades, 3 yr warranty all for £1600 - power of a top spec desktop, large retina screen, portable.
  24. Don't forget about adding weight as well. KMR Engineering in Suffolk make a great Aluminium tipper with 3 stage ram, even make a 3-way tipper. Mine cost £2400 & has now been on 2 different 130's
