  1. Defenders hold their value, are easy to repair - you can upgrade and replace every single part, from body panels to engines, axles etc. Try doing that with a Mitsubishi l200 after its warranty runs out or a transit. I’ve had my 2004 Defender td5 130 tipper for 7 years, it’s got 207K miles on it, it’s had 2x clutches & the original turbo was replaced at 197k miles, yes they go wrong but any hardworking truck will do that, it tows a mountain in all weathers and will retain value longer than a transit, Navarra, canter or related jap truck. They are so customisable - mine has LED headlights, LazerLamps light bars and a JE Motors Stage 2 tune (200bhp).
  2. I sell a lot of kindling, have it made by a guy in Suffolk from virgin timber as I’m Grown in Britain Accredited and need a quality British Grown supply.
  3. I’ve got the trucklite LED headlights fitted to my Defender130, been on about 4 years now & one of the best things I’ve done. Great value & good light range. Also got full LED sidelights, fog, reverse, indicators from bolt-on-bits, then a Lazer Lamps LED Lightbar for max illumination...
  4. Another reason why I like the mechanical permanent 4wd system of a LR defender
  5. My defender 130 tipper has a JE Motors stage 2 engine tune, rear air suspension....
  6. The problem with the automatic 4wd o the Navarra is that when it goes wrong, it’s very expensive. A friends’ 2016 Navarra locked into 4wd and he was unable to get it back into 2wd, resulting it being recovered on back of an AA lorry! At least a defender is a mechanical permanent 4wd system, and if it breaks, you can still lock the centre diff and drive it.
  7. Problem with all Japanese 4x4/ford rangers is selectable 4x4, light tear ends and leaf springs....
  8. I may still go down the route of a small firewood kiln linked to my retort. That way, I’m making 2 products without burning wood to dry wood, as the firewood kiln would use the excess heat generated during a Burn.
  9. Like I said it’s a work in progress. Yes - it’s a Pressvess retort. The only single barrel one at present. My business is 7 days a week, 350 days a year. I’ve successfully lowered m/c already so that the timber could be cooked for charcoal with a pre-burn. Most of my firewood is dried undercover in mesh stillage cages, I just want to see what’s possible with the retort....

  11. Hi Woodworks, The idea is to take the temp up to about 200 degrees then shut it down. It’s a work in process helped by suggestions from the retort’s designer
  12. There are days when I wish my Antonio Carrara had a cab and was slightly bigger (I’m 6’4”). Tried a Reform Mounty recently and it ticks lots of boxes...
  13. Steady sales and now looking at using my charcoal retort to dry timber....
  14. Had a day out trip to the wizards at JE Motors, Coventry today....
  15. Technically it’s on the floor, but it’s been out of action for a couple of days...
  16. Firewood & woodfuel pellets sales have increased this year, helped my Grown in Britain, Wood Sure Accreditations, have also been accredited under the HETAS Ready 2 Burn scheme, which is seeing more sales to London homeowners.
  17. I looked at the rob it when it first appeared. Went for the competition that’s been around longer and does a better job (in my opinion).
  18. It is unfortunately. A$130k (€75K) but what a beast! 3x diff locks, 5 speed auto, near 4 ton payload, massive towing ability and more ground clearance than a defender...as standard.
  19. If I win the lottery, I’m definitely having these on my Defender130..... Tibus Bolt-on Portal Hubs
  20. I think this might be the successor to the mighty Land Rover Defender 130 tipper....
  21. That’s what I like about my Pressvess single barrel retort, it’s so quick to load and light that I can do a Burn from cold in a day, grade the day after, bag it and have it advertised on my shopify store in less than 2 days
  22. Agreed. I did an ipaf course at Smart Platforms in Hemel. 1x day, £250 and a qualification valid for 5 years. It’s a no brainer.
  23. From somewhere where forests are still clear felled, no Grown in Britain or fsc
