  1. I take it’s cheap imported charcoal from Rainforests in SE Asia
  2. Smart platforms at Hemel Hempstead Offer MEWP courses. But also offer them at all their depots
  3. I’ve got an reversible alpine and 1.3m Caroni flail if you get stuck and travel across uk.
  4. My 130 is about to have the Foley cab extension for a little extra room without loosing too much loadspace. I've got air springs on the rear and it's got blue poly bushes all round. Sitting on its winter/woodland tyres now - BFG MT K2's and the steering is ok. The ride is good, the payload massive and it never gets upset when rowing a heavy trailer.
  5. I trust no one else with my defender. They eat, sleep, breathe land rovers. With all their engineers dedicated time-served Land Rover mechanics and enthusiasts.
  6. Morning Will, All timber is split into a combination of vented 1.2m3 bulk bag, log crate or foldable steel stillage cage and then stacked undercover or in a sheltered spinny at my yard. Which is on a farm in a rise. As a result a get wonderful convecting air currents that mean in less than 12 months this oak will be at 20% or less and ready as either firewood or be used to make charcoal.
  7. Depending where you're based - talk to Paul Foley at Foley Land Rovers. He's been working with land rovers since the 60's, as has his brother Stuart, father Peter, son Nick.
  8. I've updated my website by creating an online shopify store to sell the British charcoal we produce. Go here and then hit the "online store" link: www.hertswoodfuel.co.uk/charcoal
  9. I've got a Uniforest 35E on my Antonio Cararo TTR4400, works well. Especially with water ballast in the tyres.
  10. It's all relative. Like William, I recently paid £10/ton for coppiced Hornbeam due to access difficulties. We extracted 30 tonnes that's been processed for both firewood and charcoal.
  11. Defender 130 single cab with a Foley cab extension and air suspension. Nice ride and massive payload / towing payload
  12. I pay approx £100 / m3 for seasoned apple to make fruitwood charcoal...
  13. I screen over 20mm on grading table. Then grade the fines over 12.5mm screen for BioChar. The oversized fines are used in the retort firebox.
  14. It's not defender -it's a transit..... Talk to a ford garage?
  15. Yep that's the company - wouldn't go near them.... Not unless you're not attached to your wallet, fingers, toes.....
  16. I'm jealous of THCCo, they have a wealthy investor behind them to fund projects like a brand new retort specifically made to their spec by Pressvess who made my retort. Will be more reliable than the one supplied by the Russians.......
  17. Check this out then. I'm proud to be in this group!
  18. The woods I'm working in are to tight for my alpine tractor and the the Land Rover is perfect as a mule/equipment carrier. But coppice stools play havoc. The advantage of the Tibus Hubs are many and all rally / overland tested; High ground clearance Standard LR tyres can be used Central tyre inflation can be installed direct through the Hubs No having to reengineer old unimog heavy axles Light
  19. The Tibus Portal Hubs are not cheap. Had a quote: €10,000 for Hubs and brakes. Hutchinson beadlock 5-bolt 7x16 rims are €400 each. Takes 8hrs to fit.
  20. I cooked a batch of Hornbeam last week. Pre-burnt it on the Thursday to drive off some moisture - took it to about 250 degrees and then shut it down. On Friday I lit it and fed the firebox until it was gassing well at 450 degrees and then closed the top vent, temps rose to 540 degrees and stayed there for the rest of the day. On Saturday, I cracked the Retort open at 10am - temp was still 90 degrees and I had no brown ends. The Hornbeam was felled between oct16 & march17 and has been air drying in the woodlands until last month. I split it into 400mm billets that were then thrown into the retort, with split logs to face up. 21. This is why the Tibus hubs appeal......
  22. Buster, best thing is to call Jo at Eco Packaging: 07928336747 and explain what you need. I got 3 & 6kg bags, they're sewing at one end. The artwork costs were just the printing plates that had to be made up as I had done the artwork myself - the Stag logo is an image that I purchased the rights to from iStock., the plates were £40 each from memory and I needed 3.
  23. Hi Steve, Paper bags are cheaper and can be stapled or stitched (I use a REVO bag stitcher with tape attachment), some people use plastic bags and seal with a heat sealer but it's more cost. EcoPackaging Ltd are very good with small batch orders, great artwork costs and turnaround of less than 7 days! These are my bags.... Matt
  24. Far as I know beadlocks are legal, they allow you to run low pressures over mud and sand
