  1. Talk to just energy solutions - install a Woodfuel pellet boiler. Ton of pellets (bagged) costs approx £300 inc vat & produces same heat energy as 1000 litres of burning oil. Installation will qualify for rhi.
  2. Heave is dependent on the soil makeup ie clay content. You need an Arb consultant who specialises in this area to advise you. Call the Arboricultural Association to find out who is your closest consultant. Robert Kennedy & David Dowson are 2 I know - they will travel nationally.
  3. If you can hire in the Midlands, our Irus Deltrak goes nationally. Just got back from a little site in Northants..
  4. Talk to PracBrown and get their instant hedge - density grown to 2m x 0.5m, in 2.5m strips
  5. Long time ago, I had to grind out a large beech stump - the tree was felled because it threatened a grade1 listed house in a little village in Notts.........
  6. Problem with solid flywheels on the td5 is vibration. Grays right - it's a pig to do, I left it in the very capable hands of FoleySV to do. They eat, sleep and breath Land Rover and have been doing so since 1966.
  7. On a similar vein, my defender had a JE Engineering stage 1 remap, a light right foot means I have the performance when I need it but can still hit 30mpg when not towing a trailer..
  8. At least it's not a td5 - it has a dual mass flywheel.....
  9. True, but unless you talk about it, no one will know about it...
  10. Woodland in Herts went for £16K / acre...
  11. Don't do much advertising - except vehicle signage, website & Twitter; plus I'm listed on SafeContractor & WoodSure/HETAS.
  12. I only use low box when the mud is deep or 2 wheels are off the ground. Land Rover - best4x4xfar.....
  13. No not for a while I guess.... 😜 Have like the look of the chunky Sprinter 4x4 & 6x6 - they can be equipped with up to 5 diff locks, auto transmission, low range transfer box & air springs, plus payloads up to 4.5 tonnes whilst still towing up to 3.5 tonnes: http://www.rossetts.co.uk/mercedes-benz/specialist/6x6_sprinter
  14. I racked up a lot of miles, had a company discovery van kitted out as a mobile workshop/hotel/office, set of trellborg terra tyres for boggy conditions..., Access credit card for overnight stays MTS used to do all the grinding for the grosvenor estate, plus a 'small' outfit call Fountains Forestry....., as well as Bryant matches
  15. I stand corrected. I knew the Navarro had leaf springs on the back figured it's replacement would gave as well. Still prefer a defender, may not have air-vin, heated seats etc, but it won't cost an arm and a leg to repair. Plus it's value will increase. Was told the other day by Foley Land Rovers that my 130 was worth about £15k - pretty good, since I paid that 5 years ago....
  16. My old company - Midland Tree Surgeons, in Burton in Trent offered and still do a stump grinding service Nationally. & made a lot of money. (Probably still do) owners were cash rich, able to buy the best machines outright - not just one. When I was there, they ran a Vermeer 630B, 2x Rayco 1625's and a monster Rayco 1665. As an example, in a week (Mon - Sat), I did 2 days in Cheshire for the Grosvenor Estate, 1 day in Edinburgh, 2 days in Anglesey & a day in Dublin. That was an average week....
  17. Still leaf springs on the back tho.....
  18. We have 2 Kubota g23's - with low tip, the other with high tip. 500ltr collectors - best ride-on mower
  19. We went from Hayters & toro commercial mowers to Viking mulching mowers - best thing I've done. Reliable, easy to use & service. Typical Germanic engineering
  20. Clearing sucker growth of 2 mature parkland trees at private residence.
  21. Our Deltrak could have helped and unlike an alpine tractor or aebi, will work on a 60degree slope without putting the operator in danger. Pics from Saturday, where I had a 'little' bramble & long grass to deal with....
  22. Why not get the 4x4 sprinter or even its big brother 6x6?
  23. This was me yesterday (was shattered after long day).... Bramble bashing in Northants
