Hi guys I went to meet the lady who wants the gate, and she wants a driveway and path gate but she wants them quite tall so her dog cant jump over them also she is 80yrs old young with a bad shoulder so big gate will need a wheel or to swing nicely so priced up gates a5 our local farm supplies shop £750 for both so going on that do you think £900 would be cool , and nice on Steve just coz something is rustic you are right it takes longer as you said nothing is flat and square , got to do some designs and prices and get back to the customer will keep you all posted , thanks for your replys Cheers Mark

No not had to do that , not sure I would want to either was always told if you doont know small carbs dont Fiddle so I dont ,its a nice light saw its ok , but given a choice an old ms 180 if I can find a good one buying second hand is always risky thats why I got the echo was around £300 with a carving bar Cheers Mark

Hi guys I have been asked to make a rustic garden gate , and making it is not the problem ,what sort of price is fair , I looked on flea bay and they were all crap, is £200/250 sounding about right by the time I source the wood joint it sand it etc its going to take 2days , lookingforwardto your thoughts Thanks Mark

Hi I have always been on the sthil side also but when my old 181 gave up , and having had a go with a new one it was crap , I went for an echo got it from Rob D Chainsaw Bars it was a very good price give him a call he will sort you out with a nice carving set up , and pop on up no worries Cheers Mark

Hi , if you are up for a swap, I would swap you a nice spalted beech table or an oak bench for it could do with another big saw but it just cost me loads to M O T my van , so quite skint so if you dont ask you dont get Thanks Mark

Hi I have been on hear for a good few yrs and have never come across changing the sprocket before as Kinder says will it increace the chain speed and if so what effect will this have on milling faster cut maybe better finish , looking forward to fi ding out Thanks Mark

One of my recent pieces; I wanted to do something a bit different that still had a use and I'd been thinking of making a grandfather clock for a while. I've done a couple of these now - this one's made out of sweet chestnut and was s'posed to be sold but I had one of those annoying customers who ordered it and then rang me on the day he'd arranged to pick it up - his dishwasher had broken and he couldn't afford it anymore. Good job I don't get many customers like that!

I have carved some lime its very soft like horse chestnut and like everbody else said doesnt last outside but as Sreve said have a look at grinling gibbons his stuff is something else Cheers Mark

Hi I have quire alot of plum but most is cracked did my best with some of the bigger bits , sealed stright away and still split , I milled the main trunk ., but have loads of smallish bits left if anyone is interested I can take a photo or 2 let me know dont want much for it just a few beer tokens for dealing with it it will end up in the firewood pile otherwisem Cheers Mark
