Hi Mutley our co op is called Firebrand Artisans and we have me with my woodwork , my girlfriend who does stained glass and welding and metal craft , we also have a small space avaible to rent , and we are now looking for a porta cabin , old bus body something to convert to a clean teatching space , we are in Shaftesbury Dorset and are always happy to have visitors Thanks Mark

  8. keep it up for a first go they are cool maybe get a grinder with a backing pad for a bit of shaping , Ialso use a filing sander alot , keep it up cheers Mark

Hi guys thanks for all your nice comments, and woodbe I cut the enda freehand with a ms880 with a 4ft bar on it and a brandnew chain it sailed through lovley good fun I have some more rounds and was thinking about doing 2 chairs to match and a table but dont know how I would get it all sold Cheers Mark
  10. Hi folks, finally got a few spare minutes to share some pics of the bench I made from some Cedar of Lebanon I was lucky enough to be given. I'll finish it off with some pegs when it gets sold but until then I need to be able to take it apart to move it. Hopefully it won't be too long before it finds a good home so I don't have to lug it round loads of fairs!

Hi guys the thing is I prob have all or most of what I would need to to do the work , and the thing is I have room in the yard but not inside so I need a waterproof box and just thaught it would do until I can afford something better as I need to be able to dry my planks any other very cheep ways of getting a box sorted I am all ears Cheers Mark

Hi guys I a while ago I got myself an arrow smith drying unit and have been looking for a place to build a box for it to go in but no space in my workshop and I just cant afford a shipping container or an old freezer box , so was thinking about using an old caravan board over the windows cut a big door in the end remove all the stuff inside , way to go , now the question is do you think it will work , it will be some work but should all the bits and pices I will need , looking forward to your thaughts Thanks Mark

Hi I know exactly what you mean I am quite short and fat ish so the larger the size the longer the leg one pair that I did try on the knee pads were on my ankels eventually got some to fit then got bigger so back in the same boat , nightmare , it would be cool if you could get them alterd maybee sthill would offer a talioring service Cheers Mark

  20. Hi I used Rustins water based lacquer on a walnut dining table and on the test piece I did a hot coffee cup test and it didnt even touch it and no complaints from the customer months later maybe give that a go , good luck and happy new year cheers Mark

Nice big saw coool , but a sprocket nosed bar should be a must , I was getting alot of chain tension probs with my 880 with a 4 ft bar with a solid nosed bar until Rob D sorted me with a sprocket nosed bar (thanks Rob) just passing on my experiences , good luck milling is addictive Happy Christmas Mark
  22. I would use Elm as if its got that pinky tinge to it it would work well with the red of the yew I have some yew if you want any would be up for a swap for some Elm P M me Happy Christmas

    Depending on what type of mill , Chainsaw Lumber Making by Will Mallof not sure about spelling his name ace book , he sadly died this year , its the only book on milling I have seen do let us know if you find any more Happy Christmas Mark
  24. Good topic I have been wondering for a while what milling , what I would call bone oak , no sap wood due to wind ,rain etc
