  18. With thanks to Kim from Cornwall Hardwoods, who sorted me the commission to make this grand reception desk for a spa hotel. Had great fun battling with the huge chunk of Macrocarpa (if that's how you spell it??) he delivered to my workshop in Dorset. The desk is currently on display in my workshop and attracting a lot of interest from the extra influx of people coming for Dorset Art Weeks, an open studio event that we're currently participating in. Visitors very welcome, so if any of you are in the area it would be great to see you! Stained glass, painting, pyrography, jewellery and pottery as well as chainsaw carving on display:001_smile:
  19. Great piece of carving! If you like glow in the dark stuff you should check out bio-luminescent powder; you mix it with resin although you can use other stuff to mix with it too. The glow is amazing - 15 minutes of daylight charges it and the glow is so bright that it's almost like a light. You can now also get it in lots of different colours too. I did a coffee table with a gnarly slab of yew using glow in the dark resin to fill in natural holes in the wood but the photos really don't do justice to the effect!
  20. Here's a pic of an oak bench I've just finished for a school. Used my Alaskan to cut the slabs. Can't take all the credit tho' - my girlfriend designed the script for the schools motto and drew it on the back of the bench and it was then burnt in by another colleague who specialises in pyrography - one of the benefits of sharing a workshop with other crafts people! The 2 pics in the middle were taken after the bench had just been oiled.
