Hi guys, I have started a big carving from a huge butt of macrpcarpa and the fine sawdust seems to be giving my eyes some grief , I have an airshield pro so its only after I take it off to measure something , have a wee etc , has an6one else had this and does anybody know of anything I can do about it as my eyes are sore and gacky , never had a reaction like it before well not as bad as this ,thanks in advance Cheers Mark

Surley if its beech just let the mould grow as ,I am sure thats what causes it to spalt , and spalted beech is much cooler , to look at well thats what I think , other people may want just plain boards , but If I have mould on beech I tend to just leave it never had any probs , but make sure you have a bloody good dust mask on when first sanding it , I have an airshield pro best 200quid ever spent well almost Cheers Mark

Hi I got my resin and glow in the dark powder from a company called Elichem , made john nepia on hear a coffee table , Eli Chem are very helpfull on the phone , some turners I know use super glue mixed with powderd metal etc that seems to work well , good luck post some pics if you do go that way Cheers Mark
  5. Nice work , only ever had one go on a lathe , it was fun , I do have one but not the chisels and there always seems to be something else to buy when I have a bit of cash spare one day maybe , keep up the good work nice one Cheers Mark
  6. Hi guys my carving saw has just totaly died and was wondering if anbody had a old ms 180 that they dont need any more so I can just swap over my bar , chain etc rather get one from someone on hear that bloody ebay Thanks Cheers Mark

Hi I have 2 planks of walnut that is very pink was given me by a big posh local school , I was meant to do the milling but they lost my contact details so by the time I got back in contact they had got it done by a stem engine set up but gave me the planks as a sorry , anyway somebody said to me pinky walnut is vert rare , is it another black walnut tree or is it very rare will post some pics next week Cheers Mark

Nice Elm , I am also into chainsaw carving , but I also love milling planks and making furniture , I have a nice big yard and workshop , , would love some of that elm burr to make a coffee table , you are welcome to come down and have a day making some sawdust , where are you based , I have a lathe but not very good with it just not had any time to practice maybe one day Cheers Mark

Hi Mutley our co op is called Firebrand Artisans and we have me with my woodwork , my girlfriend who does stained glass and welding and metal craft , we also have a small space avaible to rent , and we are now looking for a porta cabin , old bus body something to convert to a clean teatching space , we are in Shaftesbury Dorset and are always happy to have visitors Thanks Mark
