1. have 10mil with £250 excess plus inplant insurance. employers liability insurance. mine was a good price about £400. concorde insurance chandlers ford. do any contract with 10mil
2. thanks for offer may take you up and give one a go. come down with husky harness. no do not do ROW work as such but footpaths in parishes which are low on list for county to do. did 12 milesl last year. not as much footpath but plenty of strimming.
3. Doobin i have no axe to grind re sthil strimmers. very good machines and to be honest if i had the work which looking at what i do which is fieldpaths footpaths overgrown area then maybe you are right a sthil may be a better choice for the power ratio may get the jobs done quicker as have the grunt that the honda may not have. i find the honda manageable and easy to work with all day. the big sthils may be wrong but could be a heavy beast lugging about all day. you use them am i right or are they ok to use all day. views appreciated
4. i do not wish to get into a shil v honda debate. all for there views. and i consider other persons posts with interest. i personally like the Honda. i do not believe it is a garden trimmer but is made for the professional market. it does what i ask it to do. it will cut through heavy duty brambles. saplings, grass etc. never had any issues with vibration from it, the reverse find it very smooth running. as i say you like the sthil and not knocking them very good product. but for price for price. the honda is half the retail price. as for power honda is 1.6hp sthil is 48.5cfm do not know the comparison between the two.
5. well i have heard it all now Sthil have brought out a brushcutter with vacuum bag attached to suck up clippings when strimming. heard the bag is as big as the vac bag on blower and will run for a hour without being emptied. hate to think how much it is. and can not see many being sold well they have sold one to a customer but then have so much money and no brains the customer. what i see being done lots of wrong toys for job.
6. no excuse for poor workmanship by sthil its made for comercial market nothing should go wrong with them for the price they ant for them. hence staying with honda well built. and does everthing i want to do. now hearing the things going wrong with sthil. minds made up will not move from honda. next will be a multitool from honda.
7. matt i think you said before what is the mower you have. looks the biz for some of my jobs. walk behind strimmer has packed up again 3 times and its new. bloody thing now they can not get parts as out of stock 10 days looks like will get my money back. and look at getting one of your animals
8. the tank i have is 3000ltrs.
9. Big dave the clutch on them is a doddle to replace. just take rotavator box off. split engine with gearbox and there is the clutch unscrews i believe anti clockwise. put new on on and bolt engine to gearbox job done. hour to do. blades can change a set in a hour. new set comes with new bolts and nuts. did have a new clutch for one will have a dig round if i find it will pm you
10. as other post if they supply materials then there fault not yours. but the customer is allways right not. as you say why do they not listen to a professional who does this as a living then may not have need to complain.
11. well my honda gets used on a daily basis and is worked hard do not get any of the issues you have had with the sthil. fill with fuel prime choke starts off choke away we go for rest of day. if it lasts a well as old 425 which it should as made the shroud to engine much stronger should go on for years. and its 4 stroke so no mixing. had mine nearly a year now. all i have replaced is spool in head as doing pavments so wears them out. but last 3 months. was looking at a big sthil will stay with honda
12. diggers your man he coppices Chestnut. may reply to your post.
13. here we go again. well i use a Honda 435 and its a cracking tool will cut most things. and its a lot cheaper than a husky or sthil. 4 stroke so no mixing. my old 425 lasted 10 years. never missing a beat. now used it for spares for a 425 i picked up in bits. see if you can have a go with one will not be disappointed. if you are not far you are more than welcome to have a go with it got plenty of places for you to have a go with it. see you are in dorset so not far pm me and will arange a go with it if interested.
14. if using it a fair bit get a tank much cheaper to run. paying 42p a ltr at present. bottles expensive way to cook or run central heating
15. i was going to say it was ded. but can not see any sign of the bark coming off which is i assume norm for ded. has it any bark missing with grey streaks running down. it may be they have damaged root system so it not getting any nutrients. are the branches brittle. it may be shock and its gone into hibernation early. keep a eye on it and see if it comes out next year if not then you have some very good firewood.
16. i strimmed a allotment on friday. was that hot had to stop every 10mins to wipe the sweat off face as stinging eyes. went throught 2 pints of juice. guy on allotment then went and got me a elderflower cordial with ice in whilst i sat on his bench under sprinkler. that was bliss. but it is a tad warm but after last winter i am not complaining. that was grim.
17. interested in you say it has a suburu engine did not know suburu made small engines. is it there own or a re badge job. if the little engine is anything like the car ones will be a very good engine. be interested if their engine goes in any other garden machinery stuff. eg ride on lawn mower
18. keep britain tidy have brought out posters for free to any council or body which owns land to put up. not that it will do any good to those who are irresponsible. my day will come when i see one of them let there dog do one and leave it or put in bag and dispose of it not in correct bin. and both barrels will be fired. theres no excuse to do it in a public place. if a human was to have a widdle they be done under section 5 of the public order act and fined. its about time dog wardens who job it is to monitor this going on got doing there job. instead of driving round in there vans looking for stray dogs or taking theirs for a walk. rant over must calm down. nurse medicine time:biggrin:
19. doing a footpath today under trees very tight as wall one side fence the other but strimming weeds some NICE person NOT. had left me a parcel in a bag. hit it full on covered in it. i stunk to high heaven it was hot. had to go home take all my clothes off in the shower and change to go back out to carry on working. it makes me mad if your going to pick it up then throw it in the bin not just chuck it down again. just waiting to see one of them do it then will pick it up and throw it at them see if they like getting covered in it. lazy bar stewards. and its a health risk hate to think what bugs will be in it will be bringing it up to the parish council to put in there newsletter not that it will do any good YUK:thumbdown::thumbdown:
20.
werabouts in country are you please be interested if near thank you chris

21. depends if there is a haulier who can haul what you want in the area you want it hauled from to you. there is a site i did find which looked on your behalf and took a commission for finding someone. can not remember who they were.
22. do you req people with tickets or those who can use a saw.
23. if your coppicing then as other post get a 550xp will do all you want and will not need a second saw just a sharp spare chain or 2 if you catch the ground which you will coppicing. the battery one will be wasted money for your job. other tools good anvils loppers ,silkie and a good bill hook.
24. +1 but a tymochiropractor they work with you and get the mussels aand back relaxed before doing any work. some use warm oil to rub in which releases the toxins and the tighness in the back sounds like sciatica bloody painfull but timmys do the trick. and you will be able to do things quicker than knocking back painkillers. or antiflamitrys.
25. can i ask is your hedge thick or gappy if latter as you want to cut 4ft off why not lay it then have a thick hedge and its lower. then all you need to do is trim it in 3 years time. saves you having to buy a trimmer for now
