  4. i stand corrected had believed that it was a notifiable weed ,but it is not. unlike ragwort. thank you all for info on this.
  5. thank you for the clear concise details how to do it. will go down wood and start doing some. i knew approx just needed the exact way now i know. need to get some more oil drums so i can have a few going at the same time.
  6. its is a notifiable weed and should be notified to the EA. as for getting rid of it as other posts only true way of killing it, is to stem inject it with gallop into main stem kills 90% 1st year may have to do more second and third year as for spraying. it will kill the foliage but not the roots which can be 7mtrs long. same for hymilain balsam. looking at £300 for the injector so trust you can get them to pay to buy one Rigby Taylor sell them
  7. +2 late father in law was in grain driers and wore the rubber masks with double filters on to stop it getting through
  8. does any one hire them in hampshire could use one. come Autumn save a lot of work.
  9. you will not go wrong with a kubota. bomb proof. i would have a manual one. hydrostatics can be expensive if they go wrong. or isuki. yanmar very good tractors as good as a kubota. do a lot with a 25hp and will get a very good one for the price you said. as for the imports not heard of any one having one so can not comment. saying that i do have a zeheo and that has been a cracking tractor in a bit of a mess at moment need some tlc. its only downside it has a electronic 3 point linkage and its a pain in butt goes up to quick or down can not set it just right
  10. Forest and Arb do them speak to Richard or jason have a range in stock. as per advert to right hand side of page very good firm
  11. no you do not need the tickets but if you do spray on a third party's site and something goes wrong eg you kill some special plant or it drifts on to a pond and kills the fish. a are you covered under your PL insurance. and with the tickets. you can show you did it all by the book. and did a risk asesment before spraying. the cost can be high. i have 2 mil PL for environmental damage. i trust i never need to use it. after doing my pa1 and pa6 i learnt a lot when to spray and not to. and did very little last year due to weather. thats the other point you charge to kill weeds its damp under foot rain in air waste of time spraying if you do and weeds do not die they will expect it done again for nowt. if you are doing a lot then get the tickets if its a job now and again then get a registered sprayer in and add it to the cost of job. if he or her do it wrong then bucks stops with them
  12. what you need is a 40 gallon oil drum. cut the top out right to the edge then cut the other end just inside the tap hole. this will allow the lid to fit on the lip you have left. waiting to go and see a chap to see it done in the flesh, then i can crack on making some.
  13. Eddie need a referee to see fair play on battlefield.
  14. i have nothing againts 2 stroke strimmers just prefer my Honda. but would like to have a challenge either one of my hondas against the equivilint 2 stroke same type of cord aspen fuel 4 in mine 2 in the 2 stroke. i believe the Honda will give a 2 stroke a good run if not be better. have to be similar spec in cc. the lord waits any challenger who wishes to take him on, on the battlefield of grass. be interesting to get someone with a scythe in on it. will the king be dethroned and a new king take his crown:thumbup:
  15. hedgesparrow

    sythe

were can i get a well made scythe not these rubbish ones in certain countrystores. may have a job they have let the grass grow to long. for a mower and strimming be there ages so though of using a scythe. cut it fairly short and finish off with mower.
  16. just watched it very good not good with heights any more but seeing programme want to have a go. as for para glider you can keep that.
  17. the lord is on aspen4
  18. depends if its a hazel wood thats past its best at present if it needs clearing will take 7 years to be fit to use for a lot of things. as for making stuff chap was making whistles out of hazel and selling for 50p. going like hot cakes.
  19. so he is now king of all he strims. and has given up smoking. maybe one day the lord may have his challenge to see who wins the brushcuteress arms.
  20. post which bruscutter. it will be make it clear
  21. Lord Honda of big cord:cursing: was disgruntled that a oily smoking earl. earl 2 stroke of little cord should be going around that he was better than him. now lord Honda being one of a quiet disposition was not having this. so challenged Earl 2 stroke of little cord to a duel. having thrown the gauntlett down. he waited for the earl to take on the duel who could cut the most on a tankful of fuel. but to no avail Earl 2 stroke has not taken on the lord. will he take on the duel that Lord honda wants or will he carry on making a noise and smoking. i wait to see.
  22. will go down the local arb place and see if he has a jet head and give it a try. and will keep it in water . as for wear rate doing pavments it does wear the stuff i have is not to bad but the bump stop heads get a bashing last a month now keep a spare in case it wears out.
  23. re buying a wood. look for a wood which has hazel in even if its gone ott hazel you can do so much with. binders stakes for hedgelaying. hurdle making even if you rent it to a hurdle maker. spars, faggots, charcoal. all will earn you some return on your investment. if it has chestnut then you can make many things including clothes pegs. i would be wary of a one type tree woodland. mine is 80% hazel with ash birch and oak but they are protected so can not touch unless they fall but if its neglected like mine a lot of work to get it back to get the wood you need to make things.
  24. interesting reading gardenkit. will try on the stick going down to to 2,5 see how it runs 425 runs ok no prob but take on board all you have said and makes sense. recommendations for cutting around grave stones. tried a no and some are better than others oregen yellow line worked very well. but have to give different ones a try and will drop down line size to see what the difference is. do a lot of pavement clearing so need one that will handle the wear. doing the cemetery this week will go and get some 2.5 and try will report back on findings
  25. have no problems have a stick and a cow horn and i do banks anything and does not do a thing to them. old one last 10years still goes just needs a new shaft and housing £40 yes had a go with big sthil and good machine but for size to size i still say the honda is better than a 2 stroke. does not scream its head off you can go into big brambles with the blade on and it does not loose power it just keeps ploughing in. wish they made a bigger one than the 435 but that does all the jobs i throw at it. would not go back to a 2 stroke.
