  1. Hello all! I am self employed, and currently looking for work within the West Sussex/Hampshire area! I've been involved in the chestnut coppice industry for just over 2 years. And after spending the last 2 years processing, I now want to start cutting. I hold a CS30 ticket, and am first aid trained, and I am looking for 1-5 days work a week during the cutting season. I have my own transport (not 4x4) and my own equipment. Any experience I can gain would be greatly appreciated. Please email: dan.james.wills@gmail.com
  2. Hi, i am still trying to source some larch poles, i need an artic load of full lengh poles with a diameter between 4" and 12" i also need chestnut in lots of sizes... can any one help of put me in touch with someone?

  4. I lack experience and need to quote for felling sweet chestnut coppice, dense, growing 20-24 years. How many tonnes do you think can be felled an hour - based on your own experience? Cheers.
  5. Hiya, I'm planning a stock fencing job using sweet chestnut for the strainers and intermediates etc. A couple of questions if anyone's got experience of this please: I'm planning on using 3-4" round intermediates for a more 'conventional' look. Do you know whether cleaved profiles would give a significantly longer life because there's less sapwood? I'd expect a better lifespan but need to judge whether it's significantly better - hoping 3-4" thick enough to balance this out. Bark on seems to blend into the landscape much better, do you know how much this would reduce the lifespan of the fence? Can anyone recommend a good supplier? Shipping is down to Cornwall so will need bulk to keep transport down. Many thanks!!
