  2. was asked to quote to cut a lyandi hedge 25ft tall and 300mtrs long top and sides. quoted £500 that was hireing a mewp. said he had someone doing it cheaper. how cheap do you go i thought £500 was a bit cheap for job. as it would have taken two of us two days to cut and take brash to his fire. next time he asks it will be the proper price to do job.
  3. sums it up found it would do nothing as it would cause a stink. and press would love the story of traveler and family evicted from caravan. now its if we can find it we will recover it for you. which haystack do you look for needle. got a festival over road someone nicked some arm bands to get in security chased him towards our place ran off into woods. police arived 1/2 hour later one copper on his own to look for him not a lot of cop he was gone.
  4. i have a saw and i do fell trees but in the wood and i make sure its clear to fell without getting hung up. i would never do a tree in a back garden do not have the skills or proper kit to do it. so pass any of that work on to guys who can do the job. people think its easy to drop a tree its not in the wrong hands. and insurance would not pay out if it damaged anything.
  5. when i worked in IT 20 years ago they said that paper would be a thing of the past as would all be stored on a pc 20 years on and we use more paper now than we did back then and most of it is wasted by big companies who just print it for the sake of.

  7. not the tenants job to ask for any work to be done has to get owners permission to do work and owners pays for work if needed its in the tenants contract as just done a contract and anything which needs doing they have to ask me to have it done. as its all to do with structure and land not fixtures, utilities or council tax which is there job to sort out.

  9. why buy new go to the recycling yard and pick one up. got a mountfield with roller on back cracking mower better than the honda. had some good mowers from the tip just need a tinkering. some are wrecks just need to trawl through rubbish to get a good one. cost me a tenner had it a year. and its a old mountfield not the new tonka toys ones. but unless you want to pay top doller for a JD,Honda, Toro then. the tips the way to go.

  12. had a phone call today to strim the tops and side of flood channels on a water meadow. the one i am doing is one of only 3 left in the country still working. most have become derelict. they have restored the sluice gates that allow the water from the river on to the meadows. so it floods in winter enriching the soil for better fodder for livestock. will get some before and after photos and when they open the gates for the first time in 10 years on saturday. nice to see water meadows being used as they did for hundred of years:thumbup:
  13. i know a hedgelayer who has been to holland for comps they lay different over there they pleach up the stem instead of down at bottom and use one of the stems as the binder. yet to see it done. but pictures look very good. like to have a go doing it
  14. if you are employed by a company then the loyalty is to the company they pay your wages. my old boss if i when working for a customer that was looking for more work i passed back to him if it resulted in getting the work then i got a extra in my pay packet for sales lead same for being self employed if someone hires you to do work and the customer wants more work then should be given to those who contracted you in to do the work. different if you have left someones employment and a customer calls you to do work.
  15. well i have found in the past the Americans very good to replying to emails re products. sadly not the case with bearcat not come back at all. as for machine well its in workshop. when i get it back the season will be over. so good money spent on a machine thats done if lucky 4 hours work. cost me money in fuel using cow, horn line, and my time as taken longer to do jobs. still going to saltex may need to go on there stand. see what they have to say.
  16. i get white finger due to using breakers for a few years if i use a saw for some time more so when its colder my hands tingle and then become very painful and swollen. was advised to get a heated handle saw as it keeps the little veins in fingers and hand open so controls reynards or white finger as for gloves may make it worse as restricts hands only gloves i do use is cut 5 gloves from tool station soft and light but with protection not from chain
  17. is it water cooled or air aspirated if water as recommended by eddie at aspen use aspen 4 with proper two stroke mix as looking to put in our modern two stroke mx bikes. if its air cooled the aspen 2 will be ok. if its been stood up for a long time i would take carb off strip down and boil in a pot of water this takes all the crud out of carb and floats to surface when it looks clean skim muck off take carb out. let it cool down and rebuild. and then just clean out the tank and lines with fresh fuel poss changing fuel lines if hard and brittle. should then be ok

  20. put it on correct sub forum looking for someone to water a newly established border of shrubs at chiswick roundabout. need own water supply and tank as none on site. and or a permit to be able to draw from a hydrant nearby. needs keeping watered during dry period until established. eg twice a week if interested please pm me your details and will furnish more details to interested persons
  21. found out that in fact it is a echo bear cat which is a off shoot of echo. big in the states. i have sent a email to bearcat asking for there advice as looking at vidio of it working it should be able to do what i am asking it to do. re bearings my thoughts. have asked dealer to look at bearings and shaft eg pull it apart to see if there are any blus spots on shaft or bearings are looking dodgey. just taking head off and spinning it is not going to find out the fault. and as for puting a bigger belt on. can see this putting a load on engine. see what comes from bearcat, and if needed take to a bearcat dealer.
  22. http://www.goldstarengines.com/product_images/m/888/WT160T__39959_zoom.jpg this should show you a picture looks as if echo uk do not bring them in any more. well it has a pully on the engine which goes to the pully on the head now the head has a shaft which goes through two bearings one at top one at bottom . what i can not get my head round is it will work fine can use it for poss 4 hours stop it go to start and head just does not turn you can hear the belt trying to turn it as if not quick can smell burning rubber. dealer say they have stripped the head and found nothing wrong but my guess is its the shaft or bearing one is getting to hot and jamming on the other. by time i get it back its working fine well spins but not like it should.fed up with it DR was a dream never had any bother with that would cut through anything without missing a beat. trouble was it was old when i got it so was abused and in the end head just fell to bits was going to cost over £200 to fix if anyone has any bright idear then more the merrier need it fixed getting behind with work using only a cow horn
  23. anyone got any good idear what is up with walk behind strimmer. works well hacking its way through stop it go to start starts ok but head will not turn belt just screams turning but head will not the heads been off can not see anything wrong bearings look ok belt its had two new ones and broke them both. you can turn by hand and after some time it will free up. its becoming a pain as loosing so much time taken it back to dealer to sort out and waiting for it to be fixed last time 3 weeks without it its a echo bearcat.
