can you please put us out of our misery and let us know what a hurricane is. i assume its not what blows hard and takes trees down.

thanks for posts will need to put it before the council as contracted by them to look after the cemetery. but now i have found them they will be looked after and not allowed to ever get overgrown again. will let the council know re the war graves to see if we can get funding to put down colored gravel on top of geotex to stop the weeds coming back. the rest of the military graves are in the main part and are kept tidy by me every other week. need to get up to take photos and details as i am sure i saw two other family members with VC.s

its BIG so hope you have some good walking boots. the heavy haulage with steam is worth a look in the evening when itss getting dark as you see the sparks coming out of chimneys. the steam fair at night is a picture. as other posts the living side wood milling ploughing. so much to see you may see a third in two days. forget the stalls as need just a day to walk round them. plus a lot of stuff you will want so deep pockets and a lorry to take it all home:thumbup: and the screech, sell some good stuff. medips and eggs will show you what is a good tipple.

as other posts welcome and read the firewood forum. as for buying in imported wood and selling do not think you will make any money from it. better buying local hardwood and doing it yourself. but it needs to be seasoned and dry so any green you get will not be ready until next year. or see if you can buy seasoned hardwood cord. you can then get started.

+1 thats why they are a sthil dealer they should know how to fix it. if it played up after they said it was fixed then its not fixed. so should of had it back and found out fault and given you a quote for repair. go back to them and say under sale of goods act 1979 that the repair was not satisfactory and did not fix problem and that you require a refund of the money you gave them to leave machine still faulty. did you buy the other bits from them. i am afraid that not all but some of these so called garden machinery firms charge a lot for there work but the people they have doing the work are unqualified. and half the time guess what is wrong do not fix the original fault but charge then charge more to find the original fault. all wrong there should be a qualification for fixing these types of kit. -

i looked at the boxer rebelion exert i foundBoxer Rebellion - The Legation Quarter Under Attack: In June 1900, the Boxers, along with parts of the Imperial Army, began attacking foreign embassies in Beijing and Tianjin. In Beijing, the embassies of Great Britain, the United States, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Russia, and Japan were all located in the Legation Quarter near the Forbidden City. Anticipating such a move, a mixed force of 435 marines from eight countries had been sent to reinforce the embassy guards. As the Boxers approached, the embassies were quickly linked into a fortified compound. Those embassies located outside of the compound were evacuated, with the staff taking refuge inside. On June 20, the compound was surrounded and attacks began. Across town, the German envoy, Klemens von Ketteler, was killed trying to escape the city. The following day, Cixi declared war on all of the Western powers, however her regional governors refused to obey and a larger war was avoided. In the compound, the defense was led by the British ambassador, Claude M. McDonald. Fighting with small arms and one old cannon, they managed to keep the Boxers at bay. This cannon became known as the "International Gun," as it had a British barrel, an Italian carriage, fired Russian shells, and was served by Americans. can now see why he was awarded the VC 435 marines againts 20.000 boxers some going to defeat that lot. yes i copied and pasted and i see it posted two should be Haliday in meadstead. can not find the others though will need to do some looking into

i need to go up there and get some details as be interested in what wars they got the VC has to be the great war or before. one was for the china war in 1900. which i have not heard of unless that is the one which had the battle of the river plate. have let the council know. it may ow be put on my list to maintain. along with the other millatary graves. including a usaf officer who stayed in uk when the war ended very nice headstone with the stars and stripes on. has to be one of my better jobs thinking i am keeping it tidy and no noise just the birds and crickets for company and those there. and a nice sunny day bliss:thumbup:

well i strimmed the old cemetery today. not been able to do it due to wild flowers out when i cleared some off the overgrown weeds etc i found 4 graves within a kerb set. 3 of the men buried were royal marines. and on looking they all had the VC for bravery what war i do not know as the graves are rather old for one family to get 3 VC,S the other member was in the royal artillary. on finding these headstones i cleared it all and blew off all the old leaves and rubbish so they can now be seen not as before buried in weeds 6ft tall. this is the first year i have done the Cemetery so sad to think it had been left unkept before. not anymore will be kept up together just need to crown lift the holly tree to get it off top of headstones.

you can get security measures which you put a chip in machine. when you finish you either use a keypad or a fob to imbolise the unit if it is at all tampered with it sets off a alarm. to your phone. and to the firm who monitor them so the police can be called. the last bit if they turn up in time. as for cameras if they see them all they will do is wreck them and may cause more damage to tractor. there are wildlife cameras you can put in trees which are triggered by movement and take still footage on to a ssd card or sent to your phone. smartwater do products. one sprays a chemical with your postcode dna on to the theifs. how it would work mounted to a tractor i do not know.

Glyphosate-what you need to know
hedgesparrow replied to Tony Croft aka hamadryad's topic in Forestry and Woodland management
re agriculture workers being affected when i did my spraying course the lecturer was saying that many spray operators did not follow the proper ppe. also there filters in tractors had not been checked or serviced. can see if that is the case why they would be getting side effects. council workers with cda sprayers no ppe .when i asked o its safe .even with a cda i would still wear ppe. irs a chemical. bt like all chemical. hate the stuff and if i did not have to spray i would not. i try and get round having to use any of it. seeing the effects on weeds when the council spray the kerbs total waste of time and money weeds still growing. i just strim them gown hard and do it again when they grow. its like nitrate on soil due to its use it has had a effect on watercourses so is now regulated. -
just a update waiting for the firm to send me the details of online auction. soon as i have details will post on this site. have a number of gates etc going cheap. plus other timber.

you need to see what flow rate the belt sander needs to run on to mach a compressor to it. if you can get one 11cfm or above with a large tank will run most air tools ok. once you get one you will say i could do that eg shot blasting or spraying need a biggish tank for that. machine mart do some good ones.
