  1. looks like your sorted near to you if not it is a bit of a treck but you would have been more than welcome to come and help on some hedges i have this season.
  2. woodworks is the guy on discovery channel making all them wood things in his posh shed with tools
  3. if you can wait bit eg 3 weeks farm sale coming up at west meon nr petersfield Jacobs and hunt petersfield, allways plenty of tractors for sale just need to know what you are looking at and what there worth but good little JD sold last time for 2k tidy tractor have been ok working in woods father in law had one was Small and nimble but with the power
  4. put a thread but just put wood lot of use have a neglected hazel coppice aprox 17 acres what should i be paying not going to get much from it to start looking at my options do i use it or get my stakes and binders from hurdleman in village. or get someone to work it for me they get what they want and i get my materials
  5. +1 or a bcs
  6. like to every year say i am going. down in dorchester hedgelaying. south of england boys will have a stand at show and maybe a demo. is it two day pat. if i was allowed out to play could come sunday. make a excuss taken grandson to see all that is wood not for my benifit:biggrin:
  7. took the words i was going to say it will be running i asume at 540rpm or 1000rpm think the first. then what power do you need to run chipper. you can then work out what size engine you will need a reduction gearbox to gt it to run to 540rpm and some way of stopping feed to chipper. as other posts can be done a saying my old father in law use to say give me the tools and the knowhow and i will make it for you.sounds a good challenge. may be worth going on BFF workshop section and asking allways making things
  8. thank you for offer bit far for me. but the national coppicing register will have someone local who would be happy to work it for you re margins on my wood. this they do not understand. the amount of large stuff i need to cut just to get 10% of usable material for hedgelaying and similar things 90% is only good for firewood or spending time splitting down to make for hurdles which i do not make as do not have the time. busy laying hedges. i have got to the point that will say sod it and buy in from a local hurdle maker and put into the cost of laying hedges have spare time then doing other things. was going to have someone in wood working it for me but if they are going to mess around not going to sort that out. o i do love those who hug woods and no nothing on how to manage them:001_rolleyes:
  9. i think you will find they are substandard unlike a original saw. and are being sold for not much less than a original.would you be happy if the saw you bought for £400 was found to be a chinese import. or that when using it destroyed itself sending a chain towards you. i only buy this type of gear from a dealer never from on line sites. and are very cautious when at auctions. but its not only saws you name it it made and its not the real thing. branded clothes being top of the list to be faked.
  10. have the br86 and its worked needs a bit of tlc when i can let it ave a rest. but like a back pack husky just so much power to blow loads around sthil struggles if there is a lot to shift quicker to use a grab for leaves after i pt them in rows.
  11. i have a wood which i did a bit of work in last year just trying to get some tracks in to pull out mainly hazel. now trust have got funny as saying i have left brash about. do not understand i was trying to get going then clear the brash when coppicing it properly not just trying to get in to get wood out. want to get it on a proper contract so i pay for the wood and i can then get on clearing it for hazel products plus firewood from the other trees what is a going rate to rent a wood per acre which is got out of hand some of hazel is 6inches so only good for firewood. if i do it that way then they are being paid a rental not like now wanting a percentage of what i take and sell or use to work with to earn a crust. have not got the time to work out how much i made on wood taken out
  12. have to say if i went bigger i would go for a big husky have to admit the honda is under powered for doing heavy stuff. its the cc to power that makes me think it would make my day easier than grunting with the honda but she is good for a medium strimmer and would stay with honda for a string machine.
  13. yes you can buy loose tea and if you want a good cuppa get amhad tea english breakfast i have not still had a better cup of tea. tried the lot but theirs is the rolls of tea. but for daily use as there is a number who drink tea like its going out of fashion yorkshire tea and after electric kettle packed up now use large metal kettle on gas cooker and can not say it tastes any different. if you want a decent teapot as well whitards do some good teapots
  14. you say the ROW is on your land but he has use of. then am i right he needs to ask you if he wants to do what he wants to do eg haul logs to his land. were is the wood coming from what is he going to use to haul the logs. compromise. can he use horses to haul the wood to his land less footprint so less damage to the forest floor and less space needed. and can not see it being any dearer than using a tractor. unless its his but if it gets wet its going to churn it up even if he does lay brash down all that will do is go in and make more of a mess. only other way is a temporary road.
  15. well have a skoda roomster as good as a estate if not better got loads of room very reliable 60mpg my 07 has 134k on clock and aparts from at the start the dash packing up has not missed a beat. up to two years ago was clocking 4k a month driving all over south coast and beyond it was so cheap to drive. have had 5 bales of hay in back. a honda lawn mower strimmer and a builders bag with grass clippings in back. its been used. and still goes on. now in semi retirement being used by daughter and wife for home care. still use it if i have a bit of a journey and not much kit as so cheap to run instead of truck. if there is one though for that sort of money do not know
  16. if any one going be good to say hello down by ring 3 outside countryside marquee. next to hurdle maker. would say put brew on but bit difficult to light ghlllie kettle. believe the hamspdhire scrumpy people showing if so try the old rosey after two pints you will need to come and kip under hedge:biggrin:
  17. with a statutory demand if you get it in whilst they are still trading then all assets are frozen so they have to sort out a agreement with there creditors. and as you issued it then on top of pile. the days of HMRC getting the lion share has gone get the same as rest of the creditors
  18. borrow a beekeeper outfit then can mow to your hearts delight knowing the buggers can not get you. unless they find a chink in armour:lol: or as other post get a electric swat good practice for playing tennis:biggrin:
  19. agree with other posts how many wounds are like in vid. best to use pressure and get medical treatment pronto.
  20. even big companys have cash flow problems. worth having a look at company houses records and see how they are doing. costs a fiver to look up. if they look as if they are in a bit of trouble as other post get in quick and serve a statutory demand. by you doing it you are top of pecking list to get your money. or send them a final letter stating that invoice is now overdue and requires payment within 7 days or legal action will be used to recover debt plus interest and costs. if its under £1500 small claim online £100 to set up plus then having it read aprox £40. if they dispute then judges time to add aprox £400. if not and still do not pay up baliff cost to court. never got that far so do not know costs. if its over £1500 it gets legal as called fast track and either side can claim there expences. depends how much you do work for them are they worth having to do work with them again. your call is it worth chasing for money hoping more work comes your way even if bad payers. or if its a one off then go for the throat. and get your money. but check there fluidity if sinking then get in quick before you loose the lot. as may owe money to many and paying those who are shouting the loudest. to stop them doing the wind up route.
  21. i be interested to know how you know this tree as very hidden in a wood with no public footpath nearby. but yes power lines nearby hence other tree did not get felled. plus would not be allowed to fell as tpo. will get a tirfor and indirect pull it should come out. waiting for approval. from landowner.
  22. have a friend who is a experienced tree guy waiting for him to call to see what we can do its hung up in middle hence will not roll out. will leave him to work out the best way to get it down. be a lot of firewood.
  23. can i ask you guys who do trees all the time for some advice. in woods a large ash aprox 2ft across came over but has hung up in a large ash whats the best way to get it down tried cutting it down at bottom to see if it would slip out but is just hung up and will not move. getting out of my comfert zone with this tree. was looking at a tirfor but with a inderect pull on a big tree a bit away from it any advice like bloody idiot for touching it no problem:blushing:
  24. thats a big lake its the size by the depth that you work out to get the gph for that size sellwoods would be one port of call do some very good high flow rate pumps with a largish fountain and as other post some form of ariation. but carp like it still and deep just when it gets hot then you need to put some oxygen in or algae bloom starts to grow and not nice stuff. be interested to see the photos of before during and after please
  25. post some pictures of a footpath i did in easton in hampshire. main footpath called the three castles way.
