  1. saw your other post re picking hay up. if you cut it with a knife or drum mower it will leave it in rows. if you want to pick it up then see if anyone has a small NF conventional baler and bale it. if its free of rag will be able to sell it as hay will not be the best but will get £3 a bale for it. lot of horsey people like rough hay as fodder. as it has not got a lot of sugar in so is good for horses who have lamintis problems and fresh hay can cause this
  2. but if its in a triple SSSI then you need to have permission from the EA to use it. and if they will allow you to use it. not happy with chemicals on protected sites. if they need getting rid of use a stump grinder. but have it checked its oil tight. and it has things to stop the pipes splitting and chucking oil all over the SSSi site.
  3. then it will be good truck must go and look at a new izuzu firm up road now dealers.
  4. do it one side costs a bomb double sided and never look at back keep it to the point. and make it stand out so it makes them look at it. i have a good design guy who works for a printing company i say what i am looking for and he does the art work. so find one of them and let him do his or her tricks what they do you may not have thought of.
  5. +1 for a drum mower find the local vintage tractor club bound to be a member with a small tractor and drum mower. or do it the old way with a hand scythe. look up British scythe association i saw some members in your area. get a expert with one do a acre in less than a day.
  6. go on Holden website and watch there clip now it looks a good truck 3,5tonne towing 2.8ltr engine does not look much bigger for passengers. shame not sold in uk give the others a run for there money like him pulling out the tractor from pond:thumbup:
  7. whats the suicide door i have two doors on my navara double cab behind the two main doors. but its a sqeese getting in and out of back. needs to be a bit bigger to get in.
  8. +2 for aspen give it a go see how your saws run after a couple of fills and no smoke
  9. get yourself a petrol one with a italian pump. and one that will take gravity feed from a tank if doing site jobs. mine is 1600psi as i had new pump fitted to it as last one broke due to frost damage. in winter drain them down and keep out of the frosty air new pump £200 i have a 800ltr ebc tank that goes in back of pickup and can do a fair bit with that amount. but it goes quick so if you need to refill find were you can fill it fast as normal 1/2 inch pipe will take a hour to fill up.
  10. looks ok from photos if you cover stools with brash give it two years and its ok deer will not eat it as its going woody. only thing to keep a check on is brambles. but leave a bit as good wildlife cover just not let it get out of hand. do not know much about hornbeam but hazel is cut every 7 years. to get the right wood. leave hazel and its to big for much.
  11. nissan navara D22 now engine replaced good truck does what i want it to do downside cab on back is so bloody heavy takes two to lift on and off. when i can aford one will get a ali truck top
  12. there the fire brigade and rspca. they can do anything. why they cut that tree down a tree surgeon would have it down in half the time chipping it up and makng a brew. why do they not do what they are trained for putting out fires and leave the job of taking trees down to the professionals who trained to do that job. same with rspca if they need to climb trees get a climber in to climb it.
  13. has to be the best firewood burns brill i try when doing logs to not put to much in but mix with other wood as do not get a lot. so keep it back for my fire. if i could get in a wood there is a lot down keep me going for years. such a nice tree that it has to get this disease. still have some healty ones doing ok at mo. keep away dutch beetle.
  14. +3 just cover it and let it die and cheaper than spraying it.
  15. +1 for what it takes to do one its as cheap to get a saw doctor to sharpen and balance it for you thats what you need is it balanced a unbalanced saw can become a dangerous blade which can cause serious damage if it breaks and fly's off.
  16. can only hoe that the courts hand out a seizure of assets and they have some will go some way if digger and trailer not recovered to help buy new
  17. had and done some good deals on ebay and majority of the time ok. i always look at seller to see if they are rated if not do not touch or deal with. last thing i sold had a bad feeling about it and it was our nomadic friends looking to buy no feedback and when i checked postcode alarm bells rang. now bitten will never deal with a person with no feedback again
  18. did not know you had to report any elm with ded have a couple which i need to take down as are now dead. but wood is full of it and not my wood.
  19. one job i have can not get tractor on there as has open flood drains and its a size 30 plus acres. hence looking at using a scythe can cut bigger sweeps with one. and just fancy having a go. were i can use one its the saving on fuel etc. may cost me for scythe. but does not need filling up only me to keep me going:biggrin:
  20. was that Garry by any chance. be interested if they are thinking of running one. reminds me to pay my subscription for the year. good society to belong to. some of the hedgelaying is a bit of a trek to go to. as south east.
  21. waiting to see report but was asked to dig every 6 ft around tree and put this fertilizer on top of peat. then give it a good soaking have a 8oo ltr tank but my thoughts are that it wants steady watering to be able to take up the fertilizer and water. soaking it would be like giving it a very good drink and if it stays dry it then is struggling again for moisture. interested what this NMAX is.
  22. if i can get all my work done may be over on the thursday. at romsey show friday saturday. need to get my hedgelaying stuff ready. nothing for ages and everthing all at once saltex on the 3rd/4th/5th alresford how 6th/7th then confor then romsey. and british MX next weekend. and newbury the week after.
  23. i have been asked to dig some holes around a 140 year old sycamore kids bucket deep and round fill with peat and put N Max on top and put turf back on. what is N MAX i assume its a nitrogen magnesium fertiliser am i correct and what will it do for the tree. its on a roundabout. i am thinking that it is having a job as so old to get enough nutiants to keep it healthy if its roots are trying to go under road. i await your views on this. i am doing the job for the cliant as he has asked for this to be done by a arboculturist who was called in to survey tree
  24. got a load of silver birch to cut down now have a sideline as bird boxs at £17.50 each good earner. as for swedish candles must get some made for show i can see them selling for £8 each.
  25. my grandson is outdoors but i have said he will not touch the saws until he is 18 and done his basic tickets. my son in law never used a saw much said he needs to get his basics and learn to use a saw. under supervision. but very sad news RIP
