  2. if on a bend maybe not lights but stop go boards at least you can control traffic. do not take notice of cones or signs.there all on auto pilot and do not see signs so if come round bend and something coming other way if they can not stop and hit the cherry picker whos going to be at fault. tick all the box,s for the cost of a couple of blokes in hi viz gear its cheaper than a insurance bill
  3. have a double beacon but looking at fitting leds in front grill and rear plus a led on top much brighter than the flashers. need it as working on road council demand it. still do not see it blind bats. nor my high viz trousers and top with signs. latter they run over them just for fun:2gunsfiring_v1:

  8. with digging it up do you know you have got it all just one small piece can regrow. for £90 for stem injector with chemical just inject the crown 99% sucsess rate in first year may need a second dose but digging it if it spreads 7mtrs are you going to dig 7 mtrs around to try and get every bit, what a job and expence. as for 25year garentee how can you give that. all you can do is say will inject it and should be dead in a few weeks but no garentee
  9. JIM E is your man send him a pm will let you have a price yes it was a farmi could not think of the name but cracking machine. wish i had the cash would buy one save me so much time sawing and splitting wood. still waiting on JIM E looking at hiring one so that would be my best option get a load in and cut and split into woodshed ready to go out.
  10. being a parish lengthman have this come up with hedges etc over footpaths. it is the owner who is responsible as on there property. if they are a danger to traffic then it is the duty of the parish to inform the owner of this and to do remedial work. if not the council can get the work done. which i have done. so inform the parish clerk and let them send a letter to the owner. it is then all legal and if anything does happen then the owner will be responsible for not maintaining there trees. and the parish may instruct you to do the work to clear the highway.
  11. touch wood i have been very lucky that by the time we lay hedges the blighters have gone and not found a nest same with strimming or hedge cutting been very lucky not to hit a nest. makes me come out in a cold sweat thinking about it. as did a hedge last week and was advised that there was a wasps nest but did not see any. only thing i did have was some bee hives near to were i was strimming and bee keeper said be careful as they may think you are a hornet and come out and take you on.
  12. just treated a load of it with stem injector in to crown with neat glypho. see how it looks in a weeks time. but other bits that were injected all dead and not come back. think your find that injecting it by watercours ea ok with it as does not go into water. but i still would get a permit to do it cover my back

  22. . hampshire you can get permits which alow you to dump waste 12 visits a year. or as other posts if you can store it untill you have a lot hire a shredder and shred it to make compost. there is a site near to me which take green waste called green otter you did say reading so berkshire so maybe a bit far to haul it just found out from son in law he is into recycling try county council berkshire have trade waste sites. mat have permit system or dedicated site but if that is what you are using a dear way to get rid of it.
  23. you are in the right place join south of england hedgelaying society do 3 training days and a improvers day ideal way to learn the craft many a champion cutter in there ranks learnt a lot with them
  24. i lay hedges because i enjoy it. i can go down into woods all on my jack and collect my stakes and binders. stopping on a tree stump for a drink and a fag. then there is the pleasure to see a hedge all gappy out of control to bring it back to a nice formed hedge which will last for years. s good for nesting birds for insect life good windbreak and stockproof fruit for birds or humans in the autumn. what more reasons do you need to lay a hedge instead of a flail or grub it out. as for price 15 year old hedge £10.50 a mtr to include stakes and binders plus pile up brash to take away by the owner of hedge extra if wanting it cleared. worse the hedge more it cost as less mtr per day. should be able to do 20mtrs a day on a good hedge. learn the craft and be one of many wanting to lay hedges. i knew a chap who was a master of hedgelaying and work followed him as i found out the more you do the more hedges find you but he earned £50k a year for laying hedges. but he was one of the very few who earn this sum. its a goal to reach by the time you are in your seventies. but yes the money is nice but i do it because i enoy it so i help with a group laying hedges get a free pint a bit of fuel and a lunch at christmas which is enjoyable. make your mind up. were are you in country if you can give me pointers can let you know of groups local to you who teach hedgelaying. once bitten by blackthorn there is no cure you will want to cary on doing it. i love hedgelaying.
  25. if you have barriers up and signs saying do not enter and he does and get hurt then his fault. if he is not happy with what you are doing say go to council and lodge a complaint. by the time its gone through the departments jobs done. you must have permission to do job show him papers saying you can and send him off saying have a nice day
