  1. those who risk nothing, do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing!! or pains temporary, wounds heal, & chicks dig scars!!!! i`v found both to be true!! i`m also a fan of the old raf one!! used to drink with two old raf boys in my local ones no longer with us & the others now too old to be out in the pub on a night!! i`m also liking the save a tree eat a beaver!!!
  2. the jungle gold show is the one with the american estate agents in guana? i watched 1.5 episodes all they seemed to do was whine about how they were not getting any gold & how expensive there running costs were but they were paying people to do everything for them whilst they either watched or went off elsewhare to find gold i`m a 360 operator & the time it was taking them to work was not suprising as they were working in a tiny corner insted of just getting in there & getting it done!! shelby stanga all the way!!!! for me!!!! he should have his own show!!!
  3. i watch axe men just for shelby!!! he is one cool dude with some awesome & weird machines!!!! the swamp loggers is a good show and i agree that axemen was not as good when the jm browning crew pulled out!!!!
  4. i have sold a couple of monkey puzzle trunks to wood turners all i did was stick em on fleabay the first one i sold did good money it was only about 8 dia at base & 2.5 meters in lenght there was 2 guys who really wanted it & it sold for 43 quid! i then put another on 2 weeks later roughly same measurements & it sold for 8 quid! with 400mm dia i think it will be more appealing to the turners as theres more wood to work with i think you will get better money from wood turners than you will get for it from wood burners!!!
  5. when i`m running a defender i always put some quality speakers in the seat box i put one in each footwell normally along the lines of 5 or 6 inch round speakers! its normally enough to drown out the rattling bearings & knocking uj`s & all the other starnge noises that emit from a defender!!!!
  6. i had some jcb compact tractor weights last year & could not give them away!!!! i ended putting them in york sale & only just got scrap value for them!!!! so theres a good chance you could get some cheap up there!!!!
  7. as jon says a double sized pallet! and pay for the insurance so if anything did happen to it your covered!!! i send a lot of things on pallets & have never had anything damaged!!!
  8. no the skid with glazed cab will be extra!!!! lol
  9. i looked into it a couple of years ago at the time i would of had to import one personally the price tag was over the $30k mentioned above & the import costs were unbelieviable!!! i decided quite quickley that it was out of my price range!!!!
  10. i`v had several discos mainley 200 300 series & can not knock them i`v had 2 td5`s & my dad has a td5 now & we have had nothing but trouble with them oil coolers injectors & head gaskets!! also injector wiring harness had 4 on one motor in 18 months!!!! my mate who is a land rover nut has had his for 6 or 7 years now & he has not had a minutes trouble with his it has over 300`000 on it now & is still on first set of injectors oil cooler etc so i guess theres good ones & bad ones i`v had my fingers burnt twice & i dont fancy a third go!!!! when there running right there great cars good on motorway good towing i can not rate them enough but when they go wrong they go wrong royal style!!!
  11. and there ZIL trucks!!!!!! ZIL`S are awesome i had one for a short while too short really wish i still had the old girl!!!! had her registered as an agric it would go anywhare!!!! the russian truck drivers are fearless & will drive into any water just to test the depth!!
  12. last year i was clearing timber from a windblown tree in a church yard for a mate he had cut it in handleable pieces so i could load onto tractor trailer i moved one load back to yard 10 mins away came back to find 3 cars parked up 2 guys with bow saws & one with a chain saw cutting up & loading there cars when i asked them what the hell they thought they were doing they replied with "doing you a favour by getting rid of all this old wood!!!" i politely explained to them that the wood was not free to a good home & that they were stealing the wood they could not grasp that 3 tons of beech is worth good money & were instant that they were doing me a favour!! on jobs like this my payment is the wood i`v set a day aside to go clear the site so it has cost me time & diesel so am a tad upset when someone tries stealing what is in effect my days wage!!!!! i know its not the same scale as loosing large amounts of cord off a forestry job but it makes my blood boil!! in the last week i have seen 2 wood thefts from local woods people rolling up in cars armed with chainsaws & actually felling trees in a public place in broad daylight with people walking dogs kids etc on both occasions i called the police as its 1) a crime & 2) a safetry risk! both times the police responded they sent the police dirtbike crew i saw the first lot get lifted by the rozzers i dont know what happend to the second ones! and on friday night a little old lady who buys her logs from me had her log store emptied & the log store stolen!!! i had delivered 3 cube on thursday afternoon so her log store was full to capacity! the thieves left her with no logs which ment no heating or hot water her house is run off a wood fired aga she called me at 7:30am sat morning and as she is one of my valued customers i made sure by 8:00am she had logs & kindling they came out of my own log store at home!! i had her another 3 cube there for lunchtime & this time i stacked them in her garage so the thieves did not have easy access to them!!! wood theft is on the increase wether as a standing tree, as cord at roadside or cut & split out the log store!! thats my rant about it over!!!!!
  13. its a sony it was mega bucks when new about 7 years ago!! it has stood the test of time the footage was never crystal clear but was a lot better than anything else on the market at the time! it now looks battered & is scrattched to death as it has been mounted on several different mx helmets & filmed loads of hours of enduro racing!! a few friends bought the cheap copies from china that were a quater of the price & had a quater of the picture quality!!! i have seen a lot of go pro`s at race meetings & seen the quality of the footage they really are top draw!!!! if i was going to buy a new camera for filming extreme sports or tree climbing i would deffo get a go pro!!
  14. tis a scam these have been on a couple of times from different sellers they normally get shut down within a few days!!! the guy i go riding with bought one before xmas he got an email from ebay that the seller was fraudlent & his money was refunded to his paypal account!!! i would like a go pro hero the footage is much better quality than my old bullet cam espicially at speed!!!
  15. Haemerlin ALL the way!!!! i have only ever worn one out in 16 years it was 5 years old when it was time for it to go to the scrap yard due to it being run over by an apprentice on a dumper!!!! the others i have had have all been stolen form jobs or off the back of the truck!!!!! the Haemerlin wheelbarrow is a very desirable thing & thieves will strick at the first oppertunity they are given to steal your beatiful wheelbarrow!!!!! i just picked one up at a farm sale in used condition but still in perfect working order for 7 quid!!! bargain of the century!!!!! the one described above to be designed by dyson sounds like a close competitor but would still be second best to the trusty french barrow!!!!!
  16. i`v run mud & snow tyres all year round on all transit & iveco tippers i`v had over the years i work a lot off road & in & out of quarries & tips all the time so winter tyres all year long for me!!! they dont wear out quickly its just theres more road noise & apparently the truck will use more fuel i have not noticed this ever so i can not confirm!!!
  17. most net bags are not uv stable so the sun breaks them down!!! they season ok if you have a big drafty shady shed!!!! a few years ago i made a shelther from scaffolding traped over the top & put scaffold debris-windbreak netting round the sides this let the wood season & stopped the bags from detrioting!
  18. have a looksey in the excavators magazine!! theres a company that advertises things like that for hire!
  19. i`v been working off the log pile for over a month now! it has been down for well over a year+ i cut & split some took it home tried it & it burnt perfectly the fire started easily the logs burnt as they should & threw out plenty of heat!!! i started selling it the next day! all i did was explain the situation that i had run out of barn stored logs & was now only processing logs to order from seasoned cordwood! i also explained that they were not as dry as what i normally sell! so far i have only had one customer not want them as i could not gurantee there moisture content!! every other customer has replied with "how quick can you get some out to me???" it depends on how desperate the customer is for logs i have now had a couple of repeat orders for the cordwood so everything looks ok! if you explain everything to them before you roll up with it i have found that the customer is fine with it as long as they know what they are buying!!
  20. if you are cutting down by hand & you enjoy it thats fine but for cutting down to logs i would say invest in a good circular saw as cutting down to logs would take the micheal in my eyes!!!!!!
  21. answer to your question yes it will tow a chipper off road!!!!!!! i pulled a discovery out with ex-birds jimmny & it only had all terrain tyres on it!!!!! just go sensibly about it!! the little suzukis are great off roaders throught the whole range!!! iv had several sj`s 410`s 413`s some with 2litre carlton engines in them one with a peugeot 1.9 diesel (xud engine out of 306) iv had a load of vitras and a jimmny of my own which was modded by a man in keighley who knows a thing or two about suzukis!!!! the other really great off road truck that was highly under rated was the lada niva cussack they went anywhare!!! only prob was they were slightly wider than the little sj`s which gave the suzuki an advantadge in my eyes!!!!!
  22. inch an half here in sunny yorkshire!!!!! only log deliveries i`m getting calls for are 70+ mile round trips & people dont want to pay extra to cover my diesel!!! so sod that! theres not enough profit on logs to travel that far!!!! so i will be sat in front of my own wood burner all day today by the looks of things!!!!
  23. new studs & nuts sorted it out for me!! also torqued em up with a toqure wrench!!!! it was the tyre shop using the buzz gun to remove the wheels which damaged threads imo
  24. i`m the same with my diggers it is cheeper to leave them sat in the yard if theres no good paying work about!!! poor paid work = 0 profit which dosent help pay the cost of maintenance!!!! so it is cheaper not to work than go out & spend money working!!!! a man who works for nowt will always be busy!!!!!
