  1. I don't think you will be getting 15 tonnes on that wagon it will most likely be a 15 ton gross weight! you only get 18 ton on an 8 wheeler grab wagon! as for the muck truck there good handy little tools especially with the flat bed! I sold mine & regret it slightly but I replaced it with a hi tip track barrow which carry's 4 times what the muck truck carries & it is the ultimate mate to a micro digger! & really does speed up dig outs!!! mines a tcp ht 500 Hi-T500 | Mini Tracked Dumpers | TCP
  2. I do more landscaping than tree work so im registered as upper tier & have been a registered waste carrier all my working life as I carry more than just green waste for the cost its well worth having the piece of mind I can carry waste away from any job legally!
  3. there's companies that come & collect waste oil for free do a Google search for your local area
  4. surly with his engineering skill he could have fashioned a chain tensioner onto the mounting bracket!!!!!!
  5. I had a fence customer warn me about his neighbour he said he was a right so & so etc & that he would be giving grief because of the new 2m high fence that was going up! we got on site unloaded all the gear & started to take down the old fence as the first panel landed on the truck the neighbour appeared out of the back door looked at us smiled & just said tea or coffee that tight so & so wont be asking you if you want one he was sound as was the guy we were working for they do say theres nowt as funny as folk!
  6. my husky 555rxt destroys brambles nettles thistles un wanted saplings etc. with no problems!!!! the harness is really comfy & distributes the weight nicely!
  7. they are bullet proof trucks the only thing is the rust if you keep an eye on it they will last forever!!
  8. big j did a video of his kiln I think it was in the milling forum I had a bash with a small fridge body (came off a transit) it worked but was not cost effective due to not being able to get enough wood in! it did work just needs to be a bigger body off a 20 toner or artic ( I need a bigger yard to fit one in)
  9. my land lord had one its the most missed machine in the whole world!!! he basically gave it away as px to the massy dealer he got his current machine from that little grey machine would lift far more than it was supposed to & still felt stable it would & did pull a house down!!! only problems it ever seemed to have was punctures im not aware of it ever breaking down or being serviced for that matter! lol
  10. I had a an old style tata yeah they have there problems but there simple to fix & theres a lot out there getting broken in scrap yards so parts are quite easy to source on the second hand market I then got a brand new (new style was a 51 plate) tipper tata again some problems but easy enough to fix theres people out there that will shoot them down in flames & slag them off cos they had a bad experience or they just don't like the look of them my tata ownership spanned 7 years yeah there was the odd breakdown but I have not owned a vehicle that has not had some form of mechanical / electrical issue & iv had most trucks vans etc. over the years tatas are what they are if you want a dream machine to drive & never breaks down look else ware but if you want a rough n ready work horse that's not the most comfortable drive but starts runs drives tatas are for you! just remember to keep an eye on oil water etc.. theres people out there who slag landrovers off then theres people who love them & my landy has given me more grief & expense in 18 months than both tatas did in 7 years! each to there own I guess!!

wish I had a pound for every time a customer has quoted this poem to me!!! always makes me laugh when I get a call from a new customer who`s just had a wood burner fitted they read the above poem & instantly become an expert on wood burning & only want ash firewood as that's the only wood which will burn! lol
  13. wish they had thrown my parcel over the gate this morning instead I have to go to the sorting office again!!!
  14. did that mog have a plywood engine cover???? that looked like a coffin???? and a very low price tag???
  15. as above I use a local tipper & grab firm they charge £50+vat per hour for the wagon & driver if its a bit of a drive to the job site they charge travelling time 25-50 quid plus vat I had them pick up 3 large beech trees we had ringed up the other week the tipper body on the wagon was full & he was still under weight & only cost 100 quid +vat it would have cost me almost twice that in diesel to move the same quantity of rings on my 3.5 ton iveco!!!
  16. for work like that I charge £35 per hour min of 3 hours or £250 per day
  17. I like big butts I have a yard full of them! and could do with more hard or soft wood I can collect or arrange haulage I`m based in Leeds I can pm mobile number
  18. I`ve had this so many times! you can not fill that can its is not a recognised can the list of things I can not put petrol in at 3 different petrol stations in my local vicinity are; combi can for chain saw petrol tank on a Honda engine on rotovator, generator, cement mixer or stump grinder I can not put petrol into the tank of my enduro bike if it is in the back of the van or on the back of the truck same for quad but if I drive them in I can fill them up????? wtf??? the best one though is I can not "NOT" put diesel in a 20 litre ex army jerry can as it is not a suitable container for any kind of fuel?????????? and you can NOT fill more than 2 crappy little red or green fuel cans ( they wont let you fill black ones don't know why as they sell them inside!!!!) the mind boggles as the garage where I buy my red diesel lets me fill a 205 litre blue nylon drum with cherry they also let me fill all of the above so get a LOT of custom from me I don't mind paying an extra penny or two a litre its worth it to not get any hassle when filling up!!
  19. I get asked it a lot! I just tell them there's enough to fill the 1m cube bucket on the loader but basically for an exact number its how longs a piece of string? I've never counted how many go in a cube & I never intend to do so!
  20. as said already persistence is the main tool to use! keep turning up at there address or premises with an over due invoice & politely asking if they can pay you today or if setting up a payment scheme via direct debit would help them if I have a bad or slow payer I will call in every time I am in there area or passing by even if I have the family in the car etc. I was advised by a guy who I sub contracted for to add on the bottom of my invoices a set of terms & conditions of payment & if the invoice was not settled within a set time that a 10% late payment fee would be added to the invoice in his words its what the inland revenue do & it works for them! he also said to add that all materials remain my property until all invoices are paid in full & that all waste remains there property until all invoices are paid in full that way you are legally covered to recover unpaid for materials & you can tip there waste back on there property even if it is 8 tons of s***e as described above! I have gone down the ccj route before with 2 clients & would not bother with it again as it was an extra expense & they still did not pay!!! even when the bailiffs got involved!! if I ever fail to recover the payment my self in the future I would not hesitate to sell the invoice to a debt recovery agency a neighbour was having trouble getting payment for some internal joinery work he had done he tried all above he could not gain access to the clients property legally as he did not have a key he threatened with county court & the guy laughed at him & said he had got away with not paying several ccj`s ( my neighbour knew what trouble I had had with ccjs) a few days later a company called him touting for trade asking if he had any unpaid invoices or slow payers he told them the crack with his non payer they bought the invoice off him for 10% less than it was for & paid him straight away it was a small loss but he got most of his money off the job with zero hassle!
  21. I have a piece of beech jamming the throttle open on my mini digger its only been there 3 days as the piece of ash that was jammed in there for the last year had fallen out!!! I really must go get a throttle cable tomorrow!
  22. I was working nr Pudsey last year I tipped off at a stables on roker lane I just called in & asked if they would like some free wood chip they took it gladly!! can not find there number in my phone but there were lots of horsey places down that way!
