  1. takeuchi`s are a good machine!! i run a cat 301.6c myself but i have used takeuchi`s that i have hired in & have been pleased with them it dosent matter what machine you run it wont stay a good machine unless you keep up with the regular greasing & service regime!!!!
  2. look for your nearest beagle pack!! i think that would be the best way to go about getting one!!!!! its what we did!!!! there bark is a very nice sound espically when on full cry!!!!
  3. if it comes up on hpi check as being on the V car register i.e a car that has been accident damaged & repaired then it will be worth less than a car that is not on the register!!! have a look at glasses guide book for a price comparison an accident damaged car is normally below bottom book price & facter the price difference into your claim then you have not lost any money in my personal opinion i dont think that a car is the same from a safety aspect once they have had a smash! but thats just my opinion i used to buy, sell & repair cars so i have seen a lot of things that the insurance approved repairers do & class as right!!!
  4. in the last 3 years i`v had mike from the council round 3 times so far & he`s coming again on tuesday for his fourth visit! he`s a decent guy who understands i`m the victim in all this jealous neighbour rubbish i dont understand why the neighbours are jealous of my old van & my happy go lucky life style???????? dont worry about the council man coming to have a look around he knows the score & will see that you only have enough wood for your own use if the sign is on private land theres not really anything the council can do about it
  5. seasoned it burns great i`m burning some right now!!!! it last a good while too!! the akrid smoke smells like canabis!!!!! but i can only smell it outside the house!!! i guess the smell might not be the wood it could be the next door neighbour playing with his bong!!!
  6. just knocked up a 1m3 box out of ply wood my 1m3 bags more than fill the wooden box probs about 1.15m3 in one of the bags so every 7th bag i`v given away a cube of logs!!! doh!!!! just designing a 1m3 box attachment for my front end loader with built in hopper to chute the logs into a bulk bag!! the profit margin is too low to be giving logs away!!!!!
  7. thats if your working out area the sum is to work out the price of the load! he already knows his truck body is 1.3m3 so Y=1.3m3 hence £60 per cube multiplied by 1.3 equals £78 per truck load! should have made it a bit clear what i was working out but the cider had taken effect!!!!!
  8. only thing i can find on ebay is this JOCKEY WHEEL CLAMP FOR,TRAILER,CARAVAN,CAMPING,BOX,BOAT | eBay it only has a 500kg max load but its the same idea i got my heavy duty ones that take upto 4 tons from a local marine shop think they were 85 quid each which included the swivel, jockey wheel, clamp ect
  9. on my trailers i have fitted jockey wheels that pivot up out off the way so the jockey wheel is horizontal to the trailer chassis i got the idea off my boat trailer the jockey wheel swivels up out the way so it dosent ground out when you back down the launch ramp!!! there not cheap but well worth the investment as round here it is speed ramp ally!!!!!
  10. that is exactly right!!! we are in the metric age so everything should be in a metric measurement i.e a cubic meter it is not hard to measure the back of your truck & work out the cubic capacity like float has X multiplied by Y equals Z the logs are £60 per cube the truck volume is 1.3M3 the cost of a load £78.00 if you sell by the cubic meter & your truck body is Y cubic meters & you charge the customer for the exact amount your truck holds you are well within the weights & measures act!
  11. i dont think it will effect the small - medium producer who only sells his wares locally!!!! we all have our `regular` customers who are happy with our logs & service!!!
  12. i have to contend with the bulk bag & mystical load brigade!!!!! it really p***`s me off!!! the average customer asks how much £ for how much logs i sell my logs by the cubic meter bag i cut & split into vented 1 m3 bulk bags so i deliver the logs in the bag so i know & the customer knows they have had a full cubic meter!!! its also less handling so is better for me!! i get the `HOW much i can gat a bulk bag for 50 quid from so an so!!` i then ask them which builders merchants name is on the bag when they tell me `xyz builders` ect i tell them the cubic meter of the bag thats been delivered for 50 quid which is normally .51 m3 (the others are .578 m3) so they get nearly double the amount of logs for only a few more £`s when i deliver the logs in my 1m3 bag i take a couple of the bulk bags they get off so an so & fill both of them with my one 1m3 bag it takes about 20 mins to half an hour to mess about tipping one into 2 & then tipping them out again but it has secured a good few customers that keep coming back for more of my seasoned logs that burn hotter than so an so`s do!!!!! you then get the `how much i can get a full truck load off so an so for that much` yeah mate he has a double cab hilux theres about .7 to .8 of a cubic meter on his truck i`m selling a full cubic meter for the same price!!!! i had one of this guys customer use me when he was on holiday the guy could not understand why all the logs would not fit in his log store!!! his next load came from so an so he put the logs in the meter cube bag i left him it was just over half full result another happy regular customer who keeps getting me more custom! i`v worked him a deal for every person he recommends me to, i give him 2 bags of kindling on his next delivery FOC!!! it is hard work getting people to believe you that the guy they normally buy form is really ripping them off as 2 guys round here sell the .51m3 bags as a cubic meter they advertise a cubic meter of logs then deliver them in a .51m3 bag which in my mind is illegal! i value every customer & i work hard to keep them pleased, i try my best to stop them from getting ripped off by con men selling a bulk bag of green logs for a bargain price! if a new customer is local or on my regular round for logs i will call by to see them at an arranged time to show them the size of the 1m3 bags & the quality of the logs with no obligation to buy from time to time i have even given out a free net bag of logs to let them see how well the logs burn this usually seals the deal & i have a call the following morning to order a cubic meter other times it has cost me a net bag of logs, a drop of diesel & half an hour of my time! i think it is worth the gamble as i have had more winners than looser`s!! bit of a rant there but it is a sore point with me!!! the playing field should be level theres enough customers out there for everyone!!!!!
  13. a tipping dyna body is a good idea!!!!! i have been using a cheap winch off ebay called winchmax there bright orange they are apparently built in the same factory as the super winch i had an x9 for a good few years so i feel i can compare both without being biast the x9 was faultless as expected & did everything i asked of it i used to compete in team recovery compitions & used it for general tree & ground works so it was a work & play tool used most days of the week i dont do any serious off roading any more & dont really need an expensive winch so thought for a change i would try a winch max there not that expensive & i only need one for the odd tree & winching the odd car out of a ditch or just plain pulling the truck through the woods when the going gets tough iv had it on the lux for a good 18 months & has been used a good few times & has worked faultless it is not as good a spec (seloniods are not that heavy duty on it) as the x9 but it was less than half the price so i`m pleased with it!! i have also seen bigger winchmax winchs mounted on several big plant trucks at the local machinery sales so they must be good if the big boys are using them!!!! i also have the winch max quad winch on my polaris will give a review on that when it has been properly tested!!
  14. i keep getting pallets droped off by people who think they are doing me a favour by giving me free firewood. i sort them out into piles of the same size broken ones get cut up for kindling for my own fire when i have enough to fill the truck i take them to the pallet yard i get between £1-£5 each for them depending on what size they are & if they are clean its not mega money but it`s money i would not have had so i`m happy!!!!!
  15. i had a superwinch x9 for a good few years it was on 3 of my landrovers & then went on my hilux!! i put synthetic rope on mine it made working with it a lot easier you will need as already stated a good few strops snatch blocks shackles ect for skidding logs i used a short wire rope round the trunk & then hooked the winch to the loop on rope! i would have another super winch tomorrow!!!
  16. i`v used both go for the biggest you can afford!! the 200`s are ok but lak power its easy to try over work the smaller machines!!!! as said various times above you might be better getting a tractor with a loader!!
  17. and people tell me my hycrack is dangerous!!!!! :laugh1: i would not want to be within 500 yards of that contracption!!!!!!
  18. i did a hedge laying course with phil a few years ago at birstal it was a good day & i learnt a hell of a lot!! also went the following weekend to watch him at the yorkshire hedgelaying champs which gave me further insight to hedge laying!! i have only used the skills i learned that day once reparing a hedge that a car had gone through might come down to brocklesby to see you in action again!!
  19. @£25 per day you would be better flipping burgers at mcdonalds!!!!!!
  20. a move to warmer climes will do the trick!!!! barry sheene moved to the gold coast of australia!!! it worked for his aches & pains!!!!
  21. i`d go for the one that needs cosmetic work as it is easier & cheaper to do!! and cosmetics dont stop it from going straight to work!! once you start talking gearboxes you start talking big bucks!!!! you might be able to pick a secondhand cab up at some point!!
  22. i had somebody steal the picture off an ad i put on ebay last year the pic was of my log shed piled full of logs complete with my terrier half way up the pile!!! it was deffo my pic sent the guy a message asking why he was using my picture & not one of his own he replied with it dosent really matter what pic i use i dont sell logs near you!!! cheeky bugger!!!!! if your product is good why not advertise the fact by showing a picture of your own logs!!!
  23. i live in a bungalow & the flue for my stove goes straight up through the roof!! it is a lot easier to go straight up rather than try tap into another chimney!
  24. fenton was a youtube hit there was a reward at one point if you had information leading to fenton or his owner!!! fenton really did want shooting for his behaviour although not his own fault it was his owner at fault but theres laws agaist shooting irresponsible dog owners!!!! i lol at the stag chasing the man up a tree!!!! proper pmsl!!!!!
  25. doors bolt on normally about 50 quid i had a sill (i supplied) put on by a local welder for £35 if it already has a colourfull collection of contours it would be rude not to add to them with some mild off roading!!! just check what price you a can get for export at the min it seems to have dropped off in the last few weeks i have 3 hiluxs sat in the yard & get every export man & his dog wanting to buy them (normally 3 or 4 a week) i usually get offered between 1300 & 1850 for them last few weeks they are offering 1000 tops
