  1. whats happend to the hilux????? there easy enough to work on all front end panels bolt on rear tub is held on with either 6 or 8 bolts depending on model i have built one from parts, fully rebuilt another, i stretched a mk4 double cab to take a single cab rear tub also squeezed a landcruiser prado 3 litre turbo engine & box in one just for a little extra grunt!! why stop at a tray back why not make it a tipper????? have a look on hpoc.co.uk theres some good guys on there that can help source second hand parts at sensible money & help with advice on how to modify or mend your truck!!!
  2. Husky 395 xp great saw!!!! not too heavy & plenty of power!!!!
  3. at times there quite keen round here on having your load secure i.e sheeted over all the local quarries make you sheet your load or they will not load you the next time you visit!!! i have got in the habit of sheeting my load whatever it is chip, branches, logs, stone, ect i bought several years ago a cotton duck waterproof super tarpaulin 12ftx9ft and it has served its purpose very well & has covered alsorts of loads on several different trucks & trailers for bulk bags of logs i tie the 4 loops together, push the bags tight up to the head board traping tarp between head board & bag, then drap tarp over the bags put the side boards up traping the tarp between the side boards & bags, then off the tie down hooks nearest the cab i run a rope round the back of the bags to hold them tight to the head board, then rope over the top of the bags to hold them down. it takes about 5 mins to do & i know i legal going down the road!!!
  4. that looks a really usefull bit of kit could really do with accepting visa though!!! i have requested an invite if i get a card reader i will keep you all posted!!!!
  5. i used to take card payment i got a really good deal with hsbc where it was no terminal charge for the first 18 months & visa mastercard were 2.5% american express were 4% & any debit card was 25p per transaction it worked well to start with as i could take payment for logs ect before even leaving the yard so i could drop off even if the customer was not home!! it also gained me a couple of extra customers you know the type who if they can not pay by card they can not pay for it i was the only log man who took credit card so i got there custom! then came the terminal rental i guess they hit me hard as i had it for free to start with rental was £35.00 per month & 85p each time the terminal banked the money it had recieved so for the last 6 months of the contract it was quite an expensive way to get paid!! soon as the last 6 months was up that was it i cancelled the contract & sent the terminal back!!!! there will be a good deal out there somewhare its just a case of digging through & finding the deal that is best for you!!!!!

  7. she is a cutie!!!! we dont have bar maids like that in yorkshire!!!!!
  8. i cleared a load of windblown trees last year from a wood that had really bad access issues i used my high tip dumper as it was narrow enough to fit between the trees!! then for the nostalga we used the girlfriends donkeys to skid out full lenght trunks which was a hell of a lot quicker than the dumper & wished i`d of thought about it & sooner!!!! eyore & piglet could skid out 3-4 trunks in one go & moved a lot quicker than the dumper could!! i only got 1 trunk in the dumper buck cut up & 1-2 chained to the back any more & the dumper strugled to make progress donkey power is the future!!!!

  14. this harvest i have driven a whole host of massy machines & the air con was knackered on all of them!! except the combine!!! but that was brand new!!!! is it a weak spot on them??
  15. you can run all plant machinery on red diesel as long as it is for site use so a tracked or tow behind chipper can be run on red! you can use red diesel in tractors, unimogs ect on the road for agricultural or forestry applications as long as the vehicle you are using it in is registered as an agric machine & the machine is being used for an agric or forestry application if you are using the machine for what is termed as haulage i.e moving split logs from your yard to a customers home it would be considered to be haulage & you would have to run on white diesel but if you were hauling cord wood out of the forest to your yard that is classed as forestry work! that is how the vosa & customs men explained it to me when i was pulled over to have my tractor tank dipped i was towing my digger behind the tractor which they classed as haulage untill i told them i was moving from one section of the farm to another to clear drainage ditches which he said would be classed as agric use so let me off as he could not prove that i was not using the machine in a non agric application he also told me that they had just caught 2 of the local councils forestry department tractors to be running on red whilst hauling cordwood timber from the councils main yard to a job site in town this was classed as haulage as the cord had not come direct from the forest! basically running on red can be a grey area it boils down to what vosa can prove on the information they have so if you were to tell them you were hauling cord from a forestry job site back to your yard you are not breaking the law is how i read it from what i have been told & from my close shave with the hm revenue & customs man if anybody else knows different please let me know as i could do without my machine being siezed!!
  16. really nice looking piece of kit there mate!! not a bad price either!!!! as others have said get a loader on her!!!! she will be a lot more versatile machine!!!!

  23. Hi-lux all the way!!!!!!!! they are top dog!!!!! i love mine to bits i get 3-4 offers a week for somebody to buy it apparently they are worth a fortune in africa!!!! the hilux is not that bad on diesel thats what i keep telling myself & i believe it!!!!!!! all i do know is it is better on diesel than my 3.1 trooper!!!!!! a mk4 hilux will run on veg oil or bio diesel both veg oil & bio diesel collect al the muck & crap in the tank & fule lines so you will have to change your fuel filter after about 100 miles then again after the next 200 miles after that go back to your normal service routine!!
