  1. You recon I can get them to take it back and return my money? Love it if I could can't see it being that easy.
  2. You say they are stupid just lowering the oil level but I think they know darn well what the problem is and there is nowt they can do about it so cheap fixes suit them as there is no solution. These trucks just don't like lots of short trips . Yes it's under warrantee but read some talk in Fleet News (exciting life I lead) where manufacturers were now not honoring problems like this as it was "driving style" causing the problems. Think there may be many suffering similar problems. In my short wait in the office I overheard two conversations, one on about the updated dipstick and another mentioning oil level rises. Suspect Devon and Cornwall with our endless lanes may suffer more than other areas. Think in the long term this one has to go as can't see it having a long lifespan with the oil getting diluted hence my other thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/94242-pest-pickup-doing-short-trips.html
  3. Erm you lost me there TCD
  4. What sort of age are we talking Stubby? Had a friend of a friend say get a euro3 model but not quite clear when that was changed to euro4.
  5. Fully agree but what can you do. Hadn't got the stomach to make a big scene and probably still get no result.
  6. Do lots of short trips for log deliveries and seems my current vehicle does not like it and dumps diesel in the oil as mentioned here http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/93878-dmax-issues-where-do-i-stand.html So what engines can handle a life of short runs from cold without self destructing? Needs to be a single cab with good sized load area. Not going to get too hung up on tow capacity but 2.5 tonne minimum.
  7. Just got back from the Dealer. Been plugged into computer and nothing initially found to be wrong. Solution to the high oil level was easy fix for them, they drained the excess I kid you not. Then tried to charge me for half hours work!
  8. Bad luck Mike. No such thing as cheap visit to the dentist
  9. Delivered logs there and they mentioned the trees being done. Probably won't need any firewood again for some time
  10. Good problem to have though
  11. Is that out at Albaston?
  12. It's great Ian and from what I have seen of your painting will look even better with some colour. Paint the saw Makita blue to avoud saw wars
  13. Thanks Mike
  14. Realy? I like the idea but in all honesty have never seen seaoned wood in the round except softwood.
  15. Like these? 1000KG 1Ton 2000 LBS Digital Crane Scale Heavy Duty Hanging Scale OCS-S from UK | eBay The other option is the ones mentioned by pileswasp https://www.pce-instruments.com/english/index.htm?id=google-uk&_artnr=493044&_p=123.6&_pmode=0&_pbexkey=37&_date=20151109013456&_pbhash=f23dec4924efd68f974d54c73d054faead6ddca92e1d8e4c08b736d3454437b5
  16. 700 kg sounds too high to me. Have weighed a crate of wet logs before by batching them through the sheep scales. Can't find the results but think it was around 540k. I am after some 1000kg scales so plenty in hand. Plus our little tractor could not overstrain them with the loader as it would be waving its rear wheels in the air long before a 1000kg
  17. Great just the sort of price range I was hoping to find something in
  18. Did you get to check the scales? If you can share the make it could be handy
  19. Yep. Been thinking this is definitely part of the solution. 5% rise in the new year .
  20. A bit early for this but a wee Christmas joke for you A man in Scotland calls his son in London the day before Christmas Eve and says, “I hate to ruin your day but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough.” "Dad, what are you talking about?" the son screams. “We can't stand the sight of each other any longer” the father says. “We're sick of each other and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Leeds and tell her.” Frantically, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. “Like hell they're getting divorced!” she shouts, “I'll take care of this!” She calls Scotland immediately, and screams at her father “You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?” and hangs up. The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. "Sorted! They're coming for Christmas and they're paying their own way."
  21. Thanks all plenty of food for thought. Gotta agree with Ted on looking after my customers and will endeavour to continue to do this. It may cost a few sales but should keep goodwill which in a rural area is most valuable. Ted we are pretty new at this but are learning each year. Kevin. Like the idea of promoting summer sales but it costs as much to process and deliver whenever it's sold. Pre-payment scheme. Will seriously consider that. Rowan. Billets is what we have used to fill any shortfall but really don't wish to do many as they have proved very labour intensive. On the upside they are cheap as it's one £3 pallet for a m3 in comparison with a £20 IBC. John. Don't know how you do your billets but I can't make and stack much more than 2m3 an hour plus there is all the loose rings to deal with. They just seem so slow to make and later process.
  22. As last year proved but hate to say "sorry sold out" to someone who has spent thousands with us over the years. Was all so easy when logs was just a little sideline and the regulars could be counted on my hands
  23. Keep meaning to get some to weigh IBCs of logs. Seems the easiest way to quickly estimate how dry a crate of logs is. Lots of 1000kg scales ones on Ebay for £80 ish but anyone tried some?
  24. Do you sell to whoever calls first or keep logs back for the regulars? Last year we kept too much aside for the regulars and then ended up not selling it as the winter was mild. Been selling to lots of new customers this year and now looks like we will have trouble supply some of regulars with dry logs. I hate letting people down but don't want to do ourselves out of sales Finding it hard to get the balance right
  25. That sounds like a nightmare. In the past were the prairies stable?
