  1. So will dropping bombs on IS in Syria reduce international terrorism in the long run? Personally I can just see it making more angry young men who will want revenge on the west. Hope it does work but be interested in others views on this.
  2. Was wondering how long it had been but 7 weeks is worse than I thought. Peeing it down now and the fields are completely waterlogged. No end in sight according to the Met Office.
  3. Sorry just realised the one in the link is not for road use
  4. No idea what they cost but was very impressed with a demo of this at the APF Mobile Log Splitters | Non-Road Use Do you need 22 tonne? Generally the more powerful the slower they run. Our 17 tonne machine stops for almost nothing and lots of folk swear by the 13 tonne Thor.
  5. How about one of those Viceroy sharpeners? Probably only available in 3 phase but seems one of the only ways to grind quick without overheating.
  6. biggarlogs. If your logs fit the sub 20% criteria you need to update your site. "Our seasoned logs generally contain between 25 - 35% moisture and sometimes even less, they have been cut during the winter and allowed to gently air dry for several months ready for successful burning in the winter. " Sounds like the other link can't air dry logs properly either. No need for a special log store with well dried logs IMO. "Seasoned Kiln-Dried Hardwood Logs. Although we prefer natural air drying of logs we cannot deny the convenience of kiln-dried logs which can be stored inside the house or in a garage or dry shed without the need for a special log store outside. Especially so in the winter months when it is impossible for us to keep our naturally dried hardwoods from re-absorbing dampness from the air often resulting in mould growth if not stored in a suitable log store."
  7. Warm and humid but not raining First morning dog walk without needing a raincoat for weeks.
  8. Don't think fuel prices have much to do with it. Deliver to plenty of folks who have mains gas. Can't get much cheaper than that yet they choose to burn logs for the joy of having a real fire. Not changed our prices this year still asking £100 m3 and more demand than last year. OP just because someone is selling cheap logs doesn't mean they won't pay more to buy from someone they trust. Loads of sellers about knocking out cheap logs but the phone still rings.
  9. Thanks. Don't fancy the extra guarding but more speed on the splitter would be nice.
  10. Do you know what they have changed to improve the latest version?
  11. A walk to the top of Dartmoor. Sorry can't get video to work anywhere but facebook https://www.facebook.com/beau.dobson.7?fref=nf Hope that works
  12. Surprised you found it slow or strugling to split but agree the log hold down could do with a bit more thought. Been putting 25cm douglas and larch through the 6 way on ours without a refusal. Sharp full cheisel chain works best if the wood is not too dry. To be fair it is probaly at its best with smaller wood.
  13. Yep MC Kingstone from recomend on here but guess they are not so great. Only got 10 as an experiment but will be sticking with crates as bag handling is proving a pain with a wee tractor.
  14. Sycamore. Growth rings look too big for holly. Maybe ash Edit. looking at the rot I would definitely stick with sycamore.
  15. Picked up some vented bags and thought it would be interesting to see how much they hold. The cube was first measured in an IBC tank and loaded to the 1000 litre mark ie 1m3. Then loaded up the net from this. First picture is the tank with a generous cube. Second is the net loaded and third is the net after a bit of a bounce. Sorry don't have the answer to the title but it's a fair bit more than a cubic meter.
  16. Great pictures Steve
  17. Oh I don't know Kevin I recon he plays it safe and uses one of these, don't forget he did stay in the cab. [ame] [/ame]
  18. This tells the story better Man survives after being hit by Alabama demolition - BBC News
  19. [ame] [/ame]
  20. Went to another dealer today and had pretty much the same response as previously but a bit more candid about the oil issue but reset timing on the injectors as recommended by Isuzu. Felt smoother afterwards and they reckoned it would improve my MPG
  21. That talks about heating to 60c but thought to clean a DPF we are talking 600c. Can see it's great for the oil but that is not my major concern.......yet
  22. A quick google did show up a few discussions on rising oil levels in Hiluxes but not many to be fair but there clearly is demand to have them removed Toyota DPF removal Diesel Particulate Filter DPF removal Toyota
  23. Found it. Looks like around £1000 with ducting and Vat
  24. OK I had not fully looked at the link and not realised it warmed the engine as well as the inside of the vehicle and yes I do need advice from an old school mechanic. Never done anything with internal combustion engines other than fuel and oil them. Any idea how much that gizmo costs?
