  1. It probably is photoshopped but it's still a reality that new developments get built on flood plains up and down the country.
  2. Can't see it matters if climate change is man made or not as our course of action should be similar. We should stop squandering finite fossil fuels regardless. Look at all the incredible things you can make from oil and what do we do? BURN IT to make electricity that can be so easily made from renewables. Can imagine future generations looking back at today and holding their head their hands at our stupidity and shortsightedness. It seems our democratic system stops governments looking beyond the next election so we never see policies for the future. You don't have to look far to see we live in the age of stupid
  3. Proper wild out walking the dog this morning. Local winds are up to strong gale gusting storm force. Amazingly not seen and significant damage yet.
  4. West coast Scotland or more realistically just to north east of Dartmoor.
  5. Yes remember it well as our spring ran dry. Hand pumping water from the well and having to boil it. Never had the spring run dry since. The winter of 78 was equally epic.
  6. Nope. Recent years the winter is wet with the odd cool spell. Spring is great then sunshine and showers for the summer. Not sure we had a whole week without rain this summer. Autumn started dry but cloudy and deteriorated into what we have now. Climate change has not been kind to the south west. On the upside we don't seem to get extremes either. Not had flash flooding here in years, no cold winters, no hot summers peaking at around 25C which is more than enough form me. Grew up in the 70s and we went from severe drought to savage blizzards so maybe things aren't so bad but would be nice to see the sun again.
  7. Welcome to west Devon
  8. Sorry Kevin have now sold it on.
  9. Sounds a nightmare. So much of it about as well. Hope you get up and running quickly
  10. Here is one with no gauds [ame] [/ame] Lots on youtube if put in the word rebak
  11. Seasons! do we still have them
  12. It is but very slow on our hedgerow brash. Probably less work on some nice tall skinny thinnings. Or did mean to grade it after processing?
  13. They don't have one. The infeed does the cutting but does not pull with any force like you get on a chipper.
  14. Did exactly as it should but could not easily sell the end product. Tried them on the house stove but shoveling the branch logging on is a pain and they needed loads of air to burn and gone in a flash. Tried selling as kindling but not much take up as it does not light that easily and the nets drop crumbs all over the place. If you had an industrial type top loading stove the end product might well be very useful. Also we had the TR70 but the TR110 with it's bigger capacity would leave a much a better proportion of small logs to chopped twigs. This was our machine in action. [ame] [/ame]
  15. Feeling the same mate. Truly depressing
  16. These are available in the UK Welmac UK Ltd: Urban TR110 Branch Logger Used to have the TR70
  17. Seems this film is so big it's influencing our weather [ame] [/ame]
  18. Always liked the sound of a European supergrid connecting renewables from north africa up to Iceland. Sure it's not always sunny and windy here but bound to blowing and sunny somewhere.
  19. Tavy hire do them for just under £100 a day.
  20. Yep. One frost so far, wake up to a dawn chorus and daffs are in flower in town. Simply bonkers and no signs of winter in the long term forecast for the south, in fact they are talking about this week getting warmer.

    On yer bike

Blimmin incredible skill and nerve of the guy. Some of those drop would be fatal. Found myself flinching just watching.
  22. Thanks Kevin Yes Felling licence might be needed. Snag is a visit before the job is a big hassle as it's up near Godalming. Getting them to send picture of what is to cut down. Does the weight of large branches count towards the 5 tonne limit?
  23. Dank yep that pretty much sums up the last 6 weeks. Still can't complain when you see the chaos rain brought elsewhere.
  24. Still stand by the Lidl ones. Had mine a couple of years and get used most days. They live in a wet shed and get dropped on a regular basis but keep on working. Not the best sound attenuation but for £30 can't complain. Class Olsen do an identical pair and also saw them on Amazon recently for around £25 This looks like them but can't find them on Amazon now http://www.clasohlson.com/uk/Radio-Ear-Defenders/40-9565?gclid=CjwKEAiAy7SzBRD_lv7quOnr6XUSJAAOLkW61HyvHYVVQJ3RUvLUnl6zouOArW63JLlFHTjop_EVJhoCRYjw_wcB
  25. No snowmen to be had here here but saw this on facebook with the caption "snowman for sale but needs some attention"
