  1. Don't think fuel prices have much to do with it. Deliver to plenty of folks who have mains gas. Can't get much cheaper than that yet they choose to burn logs for the joy of having a real fire. Not changed our prices this year still asking £100 m3 and more demand than last year. OP just because someone is selling cheap logs doesn't mean they won't pay more to buy from someone they trust. Loads of sellers about knocking out cheap logs but the phone still rings.
  2. Thanks. Don't fancy the extra guarding but more speed on the splitter would be nice.
  3. Do you know what they have changed to improve the latest version?
  4. A walk to the top of Dartmoor. Sorry can't get video to work anywhere but facebook https://www.facebook.com/beau.dobson.7?fref=nf Hope that works
  5. Surprised you found it slow or strugling to split but agree the log hold down could do with a bit more thought. Been putting 25cm douglas and larch through the 6 way on ours without a refusal. Sharp full cheisel chain works best if the wood is not too dry. To be fair it is probaly at its best with smaller wood.
  6. Yep MC Kingstone from recomend on here but guess they are not so great. Only got 10 as an experiment but will be sticking with crates as bag handling is proving a pain with a wee tractor.
  7. Sycamore. Growth rings look too big for holly. Maybe ash Edit. looking at the rot I would definitely stick with sycamore.
  8. Picked up some vented bags and thought it would be interesting to see how much they hold. The cube was first measured in an IBC tank and loaded to the 1000 litre mark ie 1m3. Then loaded up the net from this. First picture is the tank with a generous cube. Second is the net loaded and third is the net after a bit of a bounce. Sorry don't have the answer to the title but it's a fair bit more than a cubic meter.
  9. Great pictures Steve
  10. Oh I don't know Kevin I recon he plays it safe and uses one of these, don't forget he did stay in the cab. [ame] [/ame]
  11. This tells the story better Man survives after being hit by Alabama demolition - BBC News

  13. Went to another dealer today and had pretty much the same response as previously but a bit more candid about the oil issue but reset timing on the injectors as recommended by Isuzu. Felt smoother afterwards and they reckoned it would improve my MPG
  14. That talks about heating to 60c but thought to clean a DPF we are talking 600c. Can see it's great for the oil but that is not my major concern.......yet
  15. A quick google did show up a few discussions on rising oil levels in Hiluxes but not many to be fair but there clearly is demand to have them removed Toyota DPF removal Diesel Particulate Filter DPF removal Toyota
  16. Found it. Looks like around £1000 with ducting and Vat
  17. OK I had not fully looked at the link and not realised it warmed the engine as well as the inside of the vehicle and yes I do need advice from an old school mechanic. Never done anything with internal combustion engines other than fuel and oil them. Any idea how much that gizmo costs?
  18. You recon I can get them to take it back and return my money? Love it if I could can't see it being that easy.
  19. You say they are stupid just lowering the oil level but I think they know darn well what the problem is and there is nowt they can do about it so cheap fixes suit them as there is no solution. These trucks just don't like lots of short trips . Yes it's under warrantee but read some talk in Fleet News (exciting life I lead) where manufacturers were now not honoring problems like this as it was "driving style" causing the problems. Think there may be many suffering similar problems. In my short wait in the office I overheard two conversations, one on about the updated dipstick and another mentioning oil level rises. Suspect Devon and Cornwall with our endless lanes may suffer more than other areas. Think in the long term this one has to go as can't see it having a long lifespan with the oil getting diluted hence my other thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/94242-pest-pickup-doing-short-trips.html
  20. Erm you lost me there TCD
  21. What sort of age are we talking Stubby? Had a friend of a friend say get a euro3 model but not quite clear when that was changed to euro4.
  22. Fully agree but what can you do. Hadn't got the stomach to make a big scene and probably still get no result.
  23. Do lots of short trips for log deliveries and seems my current vehicle does not like it and dumps diesel in the oil as mentioned here http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/93878-dmax-issues-where-do-i-stand.html So what engines can handle a life of short runs from cold without self destructing? Needs to be a single cab with good sized load area. Not going to get too hung up on tow capacity but 2.5 tonne minimum.
  24. Just got back from the Dealer. Been plugged into computer and nothing initially found to be wrong. Solution to the high oil level was easy fix for them, they drained the excess I kid you not. Then tried to charge me for half hours work!
