  1. Redmax g5000 zenoah g5000 & echo CS510 are all the same saw. Only zenoah still made: One for around 300 new Chainsaw Zenoah G5000 - Ekosiarka.eu - Lawnmowers, Brushcutters, Chainsaws, Snow Throwers
  2. Sorry thought i had found a bargin with that makita, to good to be true after all. Dolmar version of the saw from USA would be cheaper see the TimberCutterDarmoor thread.
  3. Its alot easier & less stress just to give up on trying to find seasoned wood. Just always count on having to season it @ home when it arrives ,thus try to plan well ahead when buying. Then if the rare load does arrive seasoned its like an extra bonus. Also hopefully then you wouldn't end up having to burn the over 30% moisture wood that was just delivered as seasoned etc. Understand this isn't an answer for you if don't have the storage space though. Suppose this is why people pay loads for kiln dried.
  4. Will the 10kw boiler be enough to heat your house? I asume the old oil one had a similar boiler rating...
  5. Not bought a new one one but did research online awhile ago, there is a small range of alternative brands to the rayburn: La Nordica: or broseley Thermo Suprema is cheaper more kw too boiler, weighs less though so dunno about build quality? See: https://www.fireplaceproducts.co.uk/wood-multifuel-central-heating-boiler-cookers/la-nordica-thermo-suprema-18.5-dsa-wood-boiler-cooker/ Esse: About same price De Manincor (e.g EK90) More expensive probably, looks high quality, has some extra high tech things like thermostatic regulator primary air, for an automatic control of combustion. Wamsler 900: Country Stoves-Wamsler900 Series Central Heating CookerStoves, UK & Ireland
  6. Im liking the the M class system E.g Oven ready M20 = less or equal t 20% moisture Its alot more sensible way to sell wood than saying kiln dried barn seasoned e.g which doesn't tell you anything about the final products quality only the method. But of course its alot harder to do for the seller especially with the damp uk climate & wood reabsorbing moisture in the winter as there graph on page 47 shows
  7. How do you ensure whats standard they are when you buy the posts do you always enquire to check they are? Not sure the local place would know what I was one about if I asked them Are theese standards enforced much? Noticed some fence I helped put up around 5 yrs ago several posts have rotted & snapped off at ground lvl, a load of cows in the field were using the fence as a back itch They were only half rounds though as they cost less than the full round ones as they didn't want to pay too much.
  8. Depending on the volume you intend to process have you worked out what expensive stuff you need to buy hire etc? Or are you gonna start off small scale with a saw and an axe?
  9. I think all saplings are also trees as soon as they germinate. So maybe question should be at whats size is a tree not classed as sapling any more?
  10. You should test its moisture content with a moiture meter sounds like its unseasoned. Split a log & test the centre You can get one on ebay for under a tenner If its 20% Very good 25% ok-ish Over 30% not ready to burn yet best let it season longer.
  11. Might help if you asked them which hardwood they are claiming it is? Looks abit like oak but maybe too lumpy? With thoose new pic Cupressus macrocarpa maybe? Wood looks white though, thought Cupressus wood is kind of orange?
  12. MSA F2 X-TREM Helmet - Traffic Rescue Helmet » Product Already selling thoose ones as traffic rescue hemlet?
  13. Found this: The Log Pile Website - Wood Fuel - Chimneys So maybe i'd need one if rayburn was more efficient & didn't have a very good draw with normal chimney....
  14. Im happy with my cheap ebay one. New Digital LCD 2 Pins Cotton Wood Moisture Meter Damp Tester Detector 5% ~ 40% | eBay Came in its own little carry bag unlike this one but is same model. Gives same reading as a morso one. Stihl one seems a bargin if you want a branded one
  15. Why do you need to bother installing a flue in the chimney?
  16. If you want the leftfield makita option, better go for the Makita DCS5031-45 model it looks to be approx the 550xp eqivalent. Makita DCS5031-45 Chainsaw Petrol 2 Stroke Easy Start 300 quid Nearly same saw as the dolmar 5105 but blue. Reading the german arb forums dolmar are well respected. Brandon tool hire do makita spares.
  17. I can recommend the makita electric also, must of cut over 30 cube of wood with it & its still going strong. Bit slow if you have larger diameter stuff though. Electric motor in the battery stihl, is it 1.6KW? Probably considerably less power than a 2KW corded makita one?
  18. Probably about 6 cube of softwood on rayburn, only light it in the evening. It eats a full large plastic trug of logs every evening.
  19. Did the seller have positive feedback, I wonder if they can fake that?
  20. One someones made Wood chip Compost Water Heater
  21. Read more: How to Compost Wood Chips for Heat in a Greenhouse | Garden Guides How to Compost Wood Chips for Heat in a Greenhouse | Garden Guides Interesting warning
  22. Shame you can't buy reistant ones at a resonable price, some have being developed: Dutch elm disease - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Wonder if the earliest ones from 1990 are still ok? Says high lvl of resitance... They are very expensive
  23. Pretty smart looking stove, with upside down flames [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIXYMXdVzuE]xeoos twinfire - YouTube[/ame] Wood gasification like a log boiler. Got to be the most efficient stove you can buy? Claimed as 93% efficient.
  24. If you can get it at this price its a real bargin: Makita DCS5031-45 Chainsaw Petrol 2 Stroke Easy Start
