  1. The wood burns really well iv'e found, but thoose big multi stemmed trunks don't split easy though ... Never got why there so popular as opposed to say beech or hornbeam which can make alot classier looking hegdes & that don't suffer the ugly bald patches/ wind burn dead centres etc. I suppose there growth shape means they can be hedge like without any trimming/maintenace.
  2. I looked into buying stimmer guards but they were expensive. So decided to use milk plastic 2 litre cartons to make them. They have being very effective strimmer guards. Turn them upside down cut the top of about halfway between handle top & the the cap top. Then make a hole above the handle bit & stick a bamboo cane thought the handle. Kids in school could collect them. They make very effective strimmer guards, I wonder if anyone elase has had the same idea?

  6. Hi have you seen this thread on axes? X39 Fiskars | Hearth.com Any opinions on the fiskars x46 etc. Seems very heavy 4600g... A serious axe collection, I wish it was mine.
