  1. I've used cardboard with chipped leylandi on top, Cardboard alone blows away From reading an article someone posted up on here chip with green leaf is better than chip thats all wood as has a more balanced C:N ratio I got aldi to give me several van loads of cardboard for free, now just need to get hold of a load more chip.
  2. Thats the good stuff as has a more balanced C:N ratio for mulching/composting. Less good for burning though I suppose
  3. I'll take any chip for free chip & can collect van loads locally. I'm after mulch for round trees
  4. Or just four free pallets to make a crate
  5. On the makita website doesn't mention whether they are domestic or pro saws but the cheaper one has more HP & bigger cc so is the more powerful saw but with cheaper components?? The more expensive has a better power to wieght ratio though Product comparison
  6. DCS350140 Makita 35cm Petrol Chainsaw Makita DCS350140 £203 including delivery here? Seem too cheap so im not sure about teh website?
  7. Doing a foreigner cash in hand @ the weekend with work equipment Isn't that very common?
  8. In the nearest place they are £70 softwood & £90 hardwood for about approxiamately 0.8m3 crate of wood 7 it wasn't seasoned when I poked it with a moisture meter. If there stacked in or loosely thrown in makes a massive difference, & also the size the logs are processed to. Dumpy bags seem the norm unit round here but they they often seem too call them tonne bags or m3
  9. I was quoted nearly double that for a softwood artic load. (£1200) Is that price including VAT? Im looking into the price a load delivered too Anglesey & that sounds like a good price. Were is best to buy from in North Wales? I suppose find somewhere as local as possible the key as haulage is a big chunk of the price.
  10. I did a job like that in someones garden with a mini scaffold tower hegdetrimmer hand shears loppers & a silky saw took me one long day for 80 quid.
  11. Just being planting some hornbeam hedging trees today. sprinkled some bone meal in the holes. I would of mulched also with woodchip if i had any. This Rootgrow - Mycorrhizal Fungi stuff is it worth using? Bare Root Trees and Hedging | Rootgrow Im abit skeptical of it as wouldn't it be in the soil anyway?
  12. I'd take them but its abit far from North Wales.
  13. HUSQVARNA CHAINSAWS - Chainsaws Discount suppliers online Husqavarna Huskvarna Huskavarna Huskyvarna chainsaws 240 has slightly more HP?
  14. Sounds a really good deal that. Im just always abit wary if it something sounds too good to be true. Also I don't get why woodstoves aren't included in it? RH Premium Payment | RH Incentive So only one month left on claim the intitial bit of it the subsidy for buying the boiler etc or only one month left for the whole scheme? Small biomass: Rate is 7.9 pence per KW for 20yrs Energy Cost Comparison | Nottingham Energy Partnership Seasoned firewood cost 5.47pence per KW (accordong t0 above site) So it does look good...
  15. Are you sure they will pay you more money the more wood you burn I know the goverment are retarded by surely thats just too stupid even from them. I can't find any definite info on this. You could leave the front door open & all the windows & have the boiler going all the time to make loads of money! Have the house at 25C and walk around semi naked lol. I suppose they are reckoning on most people paying alot for there wood so this wouldn't usually be a problem as the cost of the extra wood would be more that the payments.
  16. This one: Digital Moisture Meter Wood Timber Damp Tester Detector | eBay
  17. Why the rush to season is it very fast, is it because of limited storage space? Must be a faulty tool i reckon green wood is always over 35% on my cheapo one from ebay.
  18. Meh there is never free wood offered where I am
  19. Evolution currently isn't even the mainstream world beleive belief creationism still is. I thought evolution was all about being part of nature as it shows we evolved from a common ancestor with all the other mammals i.e that humans are just super intelligent apes & not seprate from the rest of life. You mentionin the rat race makes me think how could this inclusional change of thought proceses impact the reality of everday life, i.e are you saying it could manisfest itself in the way we organized society. Some kind of green revolution in living with nature, the end of modern cosumer capitalism, holding property & goods in common like some amazonian tribes do traditionally? Sorry im very skeptical of utopian visions
  20. Doesn' Inclusional just mean = a natural ecosystem? Also the way its talked about it sounds abit like a mystical component of the Gaia Hypothesis idea.
  21. Hama Im not really a believer in this new age religion stuff, but I have read the link in original post & skimmed through this interesting thread. From the review I read of it this book sounds abit like what you are talking about. It was a negative review of the book, but the book may be of interest to you as it seems to cover some of the the ideas mentioned. [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Into-Cool-Energy-Flow-Thermodynamics/dp/0226739376[/ame] Or it might be of being a different but similar book i'll have to check the review again
  22. Best thing to do with leylandi is burn them
  23. Don't buy the florabest ones from Lidl handle comes striaght of when I lifted mine & it only had dry compost in it. Rhino was the origonal brand name I think but I dunno if they will be alot more expensive
  24. Greeks 'fell trees for warmth' amid economic chill - Yahoo!7 ekathimerini.com | Wood poaching becomes epidemic
  25. Yeah coz you risk dying a slow nasty death if you breath in a single particle of the stuff
