  2. Home | Living wage Offical living wages is £7.45 per hr or 60 quid a day for a full 8hr day
  3. I don't understand the point of tags either really its not like the tree is going to get up & walk like livestock, so why company/owenership branding is it for advertising? But if they are paying for them...
  4. Wonder if theese would be any good to stop getting scratched by hawthorn etc went cutting hedges? Kevlar Aracut Sleeve - 14' (303134)
  5. So could you have the barcode ones & scan them with smart phone to get info on every tree?
  6. Hang on, I just noticed, that ebay link maybe is abit fishy as the tech spec is for a different less good saw than the PS-510 rather than the PS-5105 So not sure which they are selling.
  7. DOLMAR CHAIN SAW PS-5105 16" BAR AND CHAIN NEW UNIT WARRANTY | eBay
  8. Or the oleo-mac 956 if you like orange more than red colour Also Efco 162 more power same weight.
  9. Some useful info: http://www.soliftec.com/efficiency.htm Stove efficiency 90% efficient wood stove (NB stove...not boiler)
  10. Burley stoves have some novel features to make them extra efficient. Quaternary combustion & heat exchanger also the room sealed kit. Some people don't rate steel stoves (like the burley) compared to cast iron (like the handol), as they say they don't last as long dunno its thats true or not etc?
  11. Local council has a new sign saying find a stick & flick it rather that bag it. Used to do some litter picks of the laybys in snowdonia. Was always alot of **** dog & human in bags & dirty nappies thrown behind the walls. The stuff was threatening to start to built up in piles half way up the back of the wall in some places. Verge by one layby found a few hundred syringes in the grass along about 30 metre distance scatttered randomly, kind of bizzare....
  12. Being looking looking at active brand, might intrest you if you want a bugdet saw etc Active 56.56 is there 550xp eqivalent Polish seller Chainsaw Active 56.56 (560058) - Ekosiarka.eu - Lawnmowers, Brushcutters, Chainsaws, Snow Throwers Italian forum Google From what i can make out through google translate according to italians they are decent.
  13. Ideal polytunnel dimesions for wood store? Am looking into of buying a polytunnel to season wood. Would be nice to have sides high enough for decnt stack height down each side so thinking a shorter & wide dimension would be better than longer & narrower one? Also the ventilation would be better. http://www.firsttunnels.co.uk/polydocs/22ft%20polytunnel%20spec.pdf 4.6ft straight sides....
  14. Some softwood logs I bought are @ 16%. Stored outside but under a tarp roof with sides open. (Averaging around 20% though to get all logs down to 16% probably takes ages.) North Wales
  15. With possibility of ash die off was looking if it was possible to get some resistant elms planted as ther used to be loads locally & with the possibly of most ash dying I thoughy would be nice to have some elms back... But seems that they are really expensive to buy, & I only found one place selling trees & there 100 quid each! Deciduous Tree, Acer Maple, Prunus, Betula pendula, Sorbus aucuparia, Quercus robur Trees Supplier - King Co Its seems a shame imo there isn't more of a goverment funded scheme etc in UK to develop & replant resistant elms. Dutch elm disease - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Some of the resistant cultivars are pantented also? Seem wrong to pantent plants.. Plant breeders' rights - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Maybe non of theese cultivars are 100% proven resitant yet so it isn't worth replanting until there more proven?s
  16. Why is all the hate directed towards the feckless poor but not one mention of the rich & corporations (so called 1%) that are paying near zero taxes due to having clever accountants & fleecing the whole country. The size of their theft dwarfs any petty amount lost to benifit cheats etc. Extreme right wing views? Also im suprised no ones even mentioned peak oil yet? You don't have to have a war or bird flu etc to causse a mass die off in a world with finite resources & expotential poplutation growth when the whole worlds s agricultural production base relies on cheap fossil fuel energy resources, that are running out.
  17. Maybe sell straight away in big unprocessed chunks for people to process themselves? I actually like sawing & splitting wood with axe & stacking & decided on exact size of logs. Probably im in the crazy minority though
  18. What chainsaw has the best power to weight ratio? (Not counting modded saws etc)
  19. I was thinking if you have an area that is nearly 100 percent ash would it be an idea to gradually fell & replace some of them from now on & replant with different species. Then by the time the disease does come it won't be totally bare you would have some new trees established? Its hard to think of a substitute tree species to plant though beech maybe?
  20. Some info about another mtd saw in USA (re badged efco) http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/162432.htm So could this one maybe could also be something re baged, but doesn't look like it is though.
  21. 543xp spec is 2.2kw @ 4.5kg HUSQVARNA 543 XP® - XP® saws
  22. I prefered that program he did about bikes. Ride of my Life: the Story of the Bicycle Last Night's TV - Ride of My Life: the Story of the Bicycle, BBC4; Baby Beauty Queens, BBC3 - Reviews - TV & Radio - The Independent
  23. Yeah calling it semi pro does makes it sound crappy. But everthing husky rear handle, smaller/lighter than 353 is also classed as "home owner" on there website. Only rear handle small saws in same size classed as pro from the big two companies is the stihl 201 rear handle version which is very expensive. But I suppose then you have the small echo saws etc but the power weight ratio doesn't seem as good for them...
  24. But a room sealed system would be better Air tight houses need HRVs Heat recovery ventilation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
