  1. Iv'e being using lidl cycle gloves. Fingerless with gell padding on the fronts. Probabaly no the best but they do seem to work in reducing vibration while using brushcutter. Obviously no good for chainsaw.
  2. Science paper on reducing bark impurities in beech trees. Wood energy fuel cycle optimization in beech and spruce forests http://iopscience.iop.org/1748-9326/7/1/014001/pdf/1748-9326_7_1_014001.pdf

  9. Nice shed Do you reckon you need some hard standing to stop it turning into a mud bath if your driving to the front of the shed across field? Field looks suprisingly dry atm though looking at the tyre marks

  11. Just get a moisture meter. Good to burn @ around 20% however long that takes which will vary alot. What type of tarp is breathable?

  13. Yeah poisonious orange berries
  14. Yurts / teepee glamping with wood burner stoves in them you sell them logs also & can charge more than for caravans i think? Posher more hippy type customers Place near here does this. Apparently one group of girls asked him were the on button was on the wood burner?
  15. Local places website has processed softwood logs for £33 per metre loose & £45 per metre bagged (proper metre bags not dumpy ones) if you order 40 cubic metres (plus vat 20%) Seems a good deal? Tempted to buy the loose ones in for the rayburn (personal use so only 5% vat?) but would have to move & hand stack 40 metres of logs in a massive log mountain somewhere.
  16. I burnt some sumac on the rayburn
  17. Ok to burn if you thank the Elder Mother.
  18. Airburners sound really wastful if your burning whole trees in them etc There was guy with a plot on an industrial estate here awhile ago with some kind of outdoor furnace (wasn't as fancy looking as thoose airburners) just some rusty old tank type job. burning 100's of old pallets everyday to dispose of them. said the council allowed it as he said he needed it to keep warm while he worked? How bout using infected wood to make charcoal on site?
  19. I watched it very interesting program Also read the book liked it but not convinced by its theory. Anyone remember the cartoon series mysterious cities of gold book remined me of that.
  20. Does all infected wood from the trees: 1) Have to be destroyed on site 2) Or can they be transported & used firewood like DED was/is If 2) when it spreads everywhere (115 sites already in uk so its going to be everywhere i think?) surely many would want to cut down before the trees got infested then atleast you get firewood from them. Which is bad if you want to try find resistant trees.
  21. Had a fair amount of acorns on some of the the oak trees I planted
  22. Would like to upgrade the old solid fuel rayburn (same model as the one pictured) Has wrap around back boiler to one of theese: La Nordica Italy Thermo range cooker stove uk Dunno if its worth doing, but im sure the rayburn isn't anywhere as near as efficient as 83%.
  23. See if logs are a luxury product or a bargin buy. Solid Fuel Technology Institute - Fuel Costs download to excel then enter what price you pay for logs & the efficincy of you stove etc
  24. Home | Living wage Offical living wages is £7.45 per hr or 60 quid a day for a full 8hr day
