  3. How big is the woodland & how much wood you you reckon you will be cutting?
  4. Surely the bigger the better. Ideally you would have a massive shed for stuff & a smaller insulated worshop/ office bit also inside. Think my dream shed would be this one: The*Sawmill Esgair Timber Co Ltd
  5. I'd have the lot if I lived closer logs & chip its excellent firewood better than some other softwoods & the woodchip is a handy mulch for the veg plot.
  6. Told there is a shortage by local places as its going for biomass. Had to try 4 different places before found some in stock... I use it for the hen house, maybe worth stockpile a load of bags.
  7. Beautiful oak woodland im jealous Hard to tell species ident from that pic but the red twig doesn't look like oak might be willow?
  8. Hegde advice plz Might have a job planting one as a new garden boundary 200m long. Trying to decide on what species mix & were is best to buy them? Any thoughts on spacings, single or double/triple row, weed control mulch etc. Also Rabbit protection guards & canes maybe be needed etc. Several online selling species mix variations: Edible Hedging Mix (Bareroot) Hedging - Scotplantsdirect - Hedging Plants - Mixed Hedging Packs - Edible and Wildlife Hedging Mix (10 Metres) - Bareroot - Scotplantsdirect.co.uk Dunno if i like there mix species seems abit limited, also blackthorn although pretty blossom looks imo ugly in winter & is abit invasive for a garden boundary? So was thinking of making my own custom mix one with cherry hawthorn damson some apples maybe etc but theese species will cost more.... Thinking to get the best food crop from the hegde will have too be left unkept & wide to get fruit rather than the regulary trimmed... Can't find any placing selling bullace/damson bare rooted they are very common hedge round here & nice to eat.
  9. I know some people who have told me they have modified there properties just to make it qualify for commercial RHI. Some thing about building a extra tiny shed or room apart from there house & heating it, can't remember the details. Seemed abit of a scam tbh?
  10. Husky website: Arborist helmet, Technical - Head, hearing and sight protection WHY? Maybe ground hats need that front brim thingy? Plz explain reason?
  11. Make some hazel hurdles? Hazel Hurdles Fencing Panel 6ft £51.95 Wonder how long they take to make?
  12. I thought Coyote were a native species to all USA not an exotic invasive species? Suppose they used to be locally extinct but have now moved back into there historical range?
  13. Usually wood roadside sells by the tonne I think 1 tonnes makes about 2 cube, £90 per tonnes is expensive, for cordwood. On the other had if its very local & just some for your own use and you can move it cheaply its not a bad deal.
  14. Sounds impossible not to ruin his lawn, unless you use farmers field in autum
  15. Base of ecalyptus in my garden looks abit like that but I though it was just because a harsh winter had killed off half the tree. Its multistemmed near ground & the dead trunks have being cut down leaving the live stems.
  16. I don't get it looks more hassle to use than the saw bench i made from an old pallet & it only fits one small branch? I think i must be missing something?
  17. I thought trasmission loss would be to great over long distance, but that doesn't seem the case. From wiki So maybe not totally impossible but most likely polictically unfeasible. See also Desertec - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  18. All new houses built are suppose to be "zero carbon" by 2016. Code for Sustainable Homes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So if all old houese are gradually knocked down & replaced or upgraded to lvl 6 might help abit I don't think it will happen though
  19. Do you need special qualifications to do this consulting?
  20. Was a program on telly apparently thats how able & cole veg boxes started off buisness.
  21. Good job, del boy style Noticed even lidl & aldi are selling logs in bags now but they only stock em in winter for a few months, must be the demand our there, dunno about all yr round though? Weather must be a huge influence on sales for bagged logs.
  22. Anygood? They look abit cyberpunk
  23. Just bought one & tried it out first time using any pole saw, & its working well but not used any other brands to compare it with.... Only downsides so far are hard work to cut when its extended to maximum 4 metres as pole bends in middle & teeth smaller & not as agressive as a silky handsaw. Also you need to section a branch down if alot of weight on it as you can't undercut with em to stop branch spiltting. Does have a bark blade thing but that doesn't work all the time.
