  1. Hi I have a un-modded 346xp & its excellent, can't fault it, feels best (to me) on a 15" bar. I'm sure Spud would get a lot more from it, but cost & the laws of diminishing return limit what is possible - I guess +15% might be achievable without spending too much? I dont know. As Stubby said, it wont provide 70cc torque, but you'll certainly have a fine saw once done.
  2. Hi, yes 346xp NEII still available here in France.
  3. 15500 RPM? Thats insane, I thought my 346 was high revving, but this is something else. Why dont they still make them? what lasts over 20 years, not good for profits! and not so long ago I was gettin ragged for not liking new fangled tech...
  4. Well done there nice pics too, they look in good nick considering age. Thanks.
  5. Welcome aboard, you'll find some good people here & good advice Good luck with your career change, a positive attitude will take you a long way.
  6. Yes the 1600Kg Ace winch is pretty good. Not sure about the Draper one, but their tools generally seem OK to me.
  7. Very nce work there, well done.
  8. Probably Sugihara solid, if you look at chainsawbars.co.uk they have a good choice
  9. So, is it worth paying X to get Y ? & I think the only person who can answer that is yourself. I've run a business (not Arb related) in some shape or form for the last 20 years and some things work out and some don't. You have an advantage as its an additional offering & I assume not your main revenue stream initially, It can be like plate spinning when you have several offerings and theres a rush of activity on different fronts. However I'm sure if you're prepared to put in the effort then you'll reap the rewards and good luck. As for the age thing, sure thats not a problem, I enjoy climbing at nearly 60. Just my 2 cents & Im sure others will pitch in.
  10. Hi, I have the same model and yes its a good piece of kit, I dont have any welding skills other than the basics but find it easy to make nice welds. I also got a bottle of Hobby Weld Argon/CO2 mix, a decent regulator and adapter to the gas feed pipe as the little bottles work out expensive long term. https://www.hobbyweld.co.uk/
  11. Had it done over 25 years ago, took a couple of hours off work, but was several weeks before I fired blanks. First test, they asked me if I really had it done, but a couple of weeks later was all clear. No probs at all. You'll get over it.
  12. Looks similar to a tree in our garden which we think is a type of Hornbeam, but the leaves in your image look more rounded at the end.
  13. I have a friend who swears by Echo, he has 620, 501 & 390 They have good quality bars too
  14. Climbing Arborist has a few good ones http://www.climbingarborist.com/rigging.php some on the tube https://www.youtube.com/user/ClimbingArborist1/playlists
  15. Yes, I take your point & agree entirely, its more avoid than dislike, to me the ever encroaching emissions laws and the desire to be seen exploiting the latest technology to gain sales is not always a good thing for end users. OK if your saws are provided by your company you pick another if one goes wrong, but not every one has that luxury. From a users perspective they are fine no, amazing so long as everything works. I just prefer things less complicated, for me theres nothing worse going back & forth to a dealer with something that wont go away particually round here as they charge an arm and a leg! But maybe one day, until then wheres that Spud ported two man saw?
  16. I think very few manufacturers products are as tough and durable as they used to be, I like 3 series Husqvarnas because they lack the complicated electronics & whilst some go for years others are problematic - the less electronics the better IMO. If you're after something better in terms of durability on a budget I'd go for a Dolmar 420 - Do I get comission yet, Shavey?
  17. I'd be well chuffed with that for the first go, nice looking boards there well done!
  18. Sharing the day with our two grown up children & grandson, best ever for me.

    Stihl MS340

MS340 is a fine, no nonsense old school saw, can't say what its worth apart from the fact its worth having.

    Merry Xmas

Happy Christmas everyone, heres wishing you seasons greetings & hope you have a happy New Year.
  21. A friend has a 435, he dosnt cut anywhere near as much as I do but its quite a nice little saw as H/O saws go. 40cc 15" bar outboard clutch & runs .325 chain Radmores website is till showing the offer I think you are discussing https://www.radmoretucker.co.uk/product/husqvarna-435-petrol-chainsaw-15/ N
  22. 200 litres per hour is less than the flow of a bath tap and its only a real problem when it comes in faster than it can be pumped out. The stern seal of my last boat (submarine) used to leak a bit, but went tight once deeper than 100 metres and this is only in the news because the ship is brand new, but as some one rightly said: thats what sea trials are for.
  23. My O/H is considering some milling... Edit & Im thinking of starting a Fb group 'Arborists do it up trees' to start marketing some trashy stuff, thats if my aplication to join The Daily Mail editorial staff dosn't work out...
  24. Curiosity got the better of me, I had to look as ive just gift wrapped and placed my wifes big present, a Husqvarna 395xp with 36 inch bar ( it was tricky to wrap kept tearing the paper) so now its under the tree... Then I saw those meme heart things on chains and thought, nah I'm not spoiling her, not this year anyway.
