  1. Hi James, whats the lovely wood in 2nd pic from the bottom? looks different to the others. Well done and amazing work, beautiful timber you have there thanks for posting.
  2. Hi, there is a chap on Youtube - afleetcommand who assembled two Hutzl 660s, which may assist you.
  3. Nice - how does your 365 get on with a 30" bar?
  4. Its very aggressive on lubricants and can cause pitting AFAIK.
  5. If you have an engine thats a bugger to start from cold, don't use easy start. Instead splash a few drops of fuel on to the air filter, re-assemble then try again.
  6. I think you'll find that is the same everywhere, every large business is focused on sales figures, margins, profits and share prices et all, which they analyses to the extreme. Whilst customers are almost an inconvenience.
  7. All pigs well fed and ready for take off. I can't see dealer comission happening. I had a look at the site this morning and is pitched at home-owner saws where a bit of dealer advice & help can go a long way to build customer relationships which then lead to further sales. I think if it was just click & collect from your selected dealer, that would be accpetable but it looks to me like the first shots of Husqvarna dipping their toe in the direct sales pond, which in my opinion is not good for the dealer network which is already pushed hard. My 10 cents worth. N
  8. Good that you have sorted things out Arbgrunt, I found that Lloyds BB got increasingly arsey and expensive so moved to Santander about 10 years ago. Now they may not have had the best press with personal accounts but cant fault them for our BB - been faultless.
  9. Ant and Dec - an intellectual vacuum created effortlessly Piers Morgan - a well known cure for constipation.
  10. The arm sleeves are rated class 0 so they do offer some protection. I've had a pair for about 5 years and I like them, they are fine when its hot and its a fair bit warmer here in summer. I also had to buy my O/H a pair as she likes them for when were doing hedge work together ...cutting that is.

Thanks, yes I know just what you mean, they sound great & rev really well. My 250 is not bad on 13" goes up to 13500 with an exhaust mod, enlarging the holes in the baffles worked well.

Agreed, my 250 bogged untill I modified the exhaust, I oh so wish I got the 241 but got hooked by the dealer doh. Anyway have a 346 as well and what a great saw that is, flick is taken couple of years ago though.

Yes, the 180 seems better than its replacement, neighbour has one and rips quite well on short bar. I would like one of these when the 250 goes https://www.amazon.de/Dolmar-700420012-PS420SC-38-Benzin-Kettensäge/dp/B0014E6RT4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511127462&sr=8-1&keywords=Dolmar+420&dpID=41pF-lhoEuL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Hi, Stihl would make you believe easy start & easy chain tensioners are essential. The reality is they're a pain in the arse. Easy start is prehaps OK if you really can't manage a conventional pull start but its more to go wrong. Easy chain tensioners never seem to get the right tension & need continual adjustment, the good news is its possible to convert a 250 back to the conventional two bolts. To me the 181 & 251 are better without these. As for flip caps: Ive seen them leak due to incorrect spec of the rubber seal, break, gather crap in every crevice & not work properly. I recall Stihl replacing some in America where consumers have more rights, indicating (to me ) a design defect, mine on a 250 both broke the replacements are slightly better. Some people love them, not me. Anyway, none of the above get your fire wood cut any better, if you must have Stihl look at MS 241 which is a great saw, otherwise take a look at Echo, Husky or a Dolmar: 42cc - Dolmar 420, 50cc - Husky 346 S/H but rare, 60cc - Echo CS620 70 cc - 365xt for example, not sure what your budget is hence range.
  17. Hi Mick, its clearing & drinking well should be better at Christmas. If its cloudy you just need to leave the sediment to drop out then decant, then you should try some!
  18. Heres our latest batch of Pineau maturing in a chestnut barrel, its just a mixture of our own grape juice & Eau de Vie at 3:1 ratio to get it to about 15-16% then leave to mature. The grape variety is an old Vendeen variety called La Chasse de la Rose which is quite nice for eating as well, we had loads this year & made over 30 litres.
  19. Do you use JB weld to stick them on the wall or do I rotate Blackberries make a nice wine, we make Pineau with them N
  20. Hi Ty, Yes they are a good saw, I love mine, old school tech, outboard clutch, nice ballance 700 seems a bit steep, Ive seen them at 669 Euros an Gamm Vert who are usually the dearest. see Lambin https://www.lambin.fr/tronconneuse/tronconneuse-thermique-professionnelle/1676-tronconneuse-thermique-professionnelle-husqvarna-346xp-45sn.html
  21. TBH they both cut fast, the inboard/outboard clutch may be a personal preference although I understand for milling the 395s outboard clutch is desirable to assist cooling on extended cuts. The slightly smaller 390 (88cc) has an inboard clutch. So whats your local dealer support like? Might be tedious if you have to do a long round trip to get service.
  22. Thank you, once again for the opportunity to admire your 395xp with its sugi bar, 2003 is pretty good and I hope she serves you well for a fair few more.
  23. If I needed a bigger saw, it would be a 395xp, Im sure the 661 has its fans, but I prefer to avoid anything that may have 'new fangled' electronics, the less the better IMO- technology gone mad but I'm sure the delaers love them.
  24. Tonight its LaLande de Talyran Entre deux Mers - white, a Cote du Luberon Rose & Antoine Ogier Côtes du Rhône villages vielles vignes 2015, almost without equal at the same price as we had our neighbours for dinner, excellent.
  25. Only in France, 60% proof...
