  1. I think you need to have left a small bit of hose on the air filter pipe iirc to put the bolt in. Sorry for the vagueness it was a long time ago I done mine
  2. err not sure but is that not the one you can stick a big bolt in and hose clip it in tight?
  3. Sounds good Not quite so peacefull for me, spent the evening in the workshop sandblasting & painting bits off the land rover, whilst the girlfriend & boys have gone to the music concert in the village.
  4. It will increase performance and mpg very slightly On the ranger it's not so much the high mileage that causes the pipe lining it's a crap design (something to do with EU emmision rubbish) even with low mileage one's, but obviously it will make it worse with higher miles. Was a fair while back when it was done but I had my pump timing advanced slightly which increased HP and fuel economy again, although that job was done by the local ford garage as a freebee TBH with that mileage I would think it would need new injectors if it hasn't already, I would get them tested before messing with the pump.
  5. If it's what I think it is it's caused by the air from the breather pipe from the top of the rocker box being recirculated into the air inlet (cant remember the exact name of it) and the best thing to do is bypass it, iirc a blanking plate on one end and run a new length of breather pipe down to the side of the chassis in the engine bay.
  6. I am thinking of changing over to greenteeth on my bandit, I would like to know how you have got on with sharpened teeth, I know there must not be anything ground off the outside edge and i'm wondering how this makes them compare to new ones. I have the machines in the workshop to make a setup to sharpen the teeth properly, and I was wondering if anyone else sharpens theirs or if anyone would be interested in a sharpening service for them, I know there are firms in other countries offering a sharpening service for them but couldn't find one here and even if there was I would rather sharpen my own anyway.
  7. I wonder if they will still feel like that if the imported wood becomes cheaper than locally sourced, I hope they do but cost usually wins in the end.
  8. For fear of starting something here That's £130-£140 a cube, I can't help feeling that a lot of woodburners were fitted purely as a feature and people don't rely on it for a guaranteed heat source, and I can't help feeling that some of you are going to price yourselves out of work at those prices, because while times are hard (and getting harder) they just won't bother lighting them, obviously there are still people who will need logs for essential heat. Obviuosly I am comparing those prices to around here, but I don't believe we are that far apart in distance.
  9. Hmm they told me they no longer insure 4x4 trucks anymore either
  10. I know someone who has a suposedly 80kw unit, cost him over £100k and it has yet to ever push out 80kw, I have looked into getting one to help power the house & yard, the trouble with them is as the wind speed drops they don't push out power in proportion to their rated output.
  11. I have had a couple of rangers, for a workhorse the earlier ones are better imo, the newer ones have higher gear ratios that make it a bitch to get moving when towing at it's max. Expect the usual ford rust, chassis are a little bit flexy but again way better than the newer model, check the rear springs for broken leafs, it's a common problem on rangers that do a lot of towing, being lower geared they aren't too economical especially when towing. I would have thought you could get an early lowish mileage one for what you have to spend, I personally wouldn't touch one with 150k on it. All in all the early ones are pretty good trucks.
  12. The last 2 years have seemed to be a bugger for it, on the turf we use 2ltr 2-4D & 2ltr mcpa & 0.5ltr starane per hectare, the starane is just put in to make sure we knock any clover that is coming But that is on very early stage, the second years worth of spaying seems to now have it under control much better.
  13. I thought this was coming, this years yp has seen loads of local firms drop out, but for my line of work although good SEO for the website has pulled a fair bit in the bulk of my work still comes from the yp
  14. might pay to have a look on ebay, there seam to be some reasonably priced hauliers advertising on there looking for work.
  15. Never been to it, I have always wanted to go but I hate big crowds and I know it gets pretty packed out especially if you are trying to get shots, look forward to seeing some shots.
  16. As has been already said the power requirements for a hydraulic supply man enough to power a chipper is going to be quite substantial, that alone is likely to create a problem, having a vehicle running whilst no one is actually in it is also another, I have looked into mounting a chipper on a demountable system on my landy and I can see the need for it to be on a turntable even if it is fed by a crane. The hydraulic system even if workable is likely to cost huge ammounts of money, ideally I would think to get it to work properly you would need to have a pump for the crane and another for the chipper, if it were me trying to do this (I wouldn't because your payload and chip area is going to be pretty naf once everything else is fitted) i would fit an engine driven chipper.
  17. If you struggle to find them I will be going to a friends yard sometime in the next 7 days, they have a book with most engine head torques and sequence in it, remembering to get it while i'm there will be the problem
  18. Haha you and me both, I decided it was a bit big to sit in the yard. It's a cracking truck and would put a huge smile on anyones face driving it
  19. Have a look in here insurance thread I got NFU down aswell by telling them I was off elsewhere, might be worth a try.
  20. When I spoke to global recycling the other day they said they had plenty, might be worth a try
  21. If they are standard finger teeth use an angle grinder with diamond wheel, but depends on how far gone they are.
  22. I bought a biscuit jointer for the camper build and only used it for one joint. Not a bad joint though. Might be tempted to sell it if you are interested
  23. This is te only one on there at the moment so assume it's this one ? Lucas Mill
  24. That looks very neat & tidy, and a nice setup
