  1. I generally keep my gob shut on topics like this but this will do our economic recovery no good at all, a law should be passed that as each of those involved are charged they should be sterilised as part of their sentence, (that's if the marksman misses) the thought of these scum having offspring scares the crap out of me. I could go on with what I really think but what good would it do. These are very sad days for this country
  2. A camon C8 or C10 from a hire shop will do the job ok, just make sure it has decent blades on it before you take it away. Howard gems are the kiddy but I think you will struggle to find one in a hire shop
  3. I have only cooked my own dinner a few times in the 15 years we have been together, couple of times when the g/f was ill and the other time was when I cooked dinner for everyone to see what they thought of my cooking
  4. Glad to hear it's all clear Andy
  5. That's interesting I had never really thought of going over the 3.5 ton gross towing vehicle weight. So if I had a 5.5 ton 4x4 iveco daily coupled to a 2.75 ton trailer that would be a payload of nearly 5 ton and an incredibly sweet setup no tachograph but an operators licence needed Now that is tempting.
  6. It's all a load of nonsense anyway, I wouldn't bother with plates to match the train weight now I have it in writing from vosa anyway. Indeed it is ifors policy only to supply the plates to a dealer, although the dealer said we could keep the old plate anyway. But yes you can fit a plate yourself if you want, if I needed one personally for £15 I would just rather have it sorted for me, I didn't think it was expensive by the time you take the cost of a plate and a set of stamps into account.
  7. They let him off of that as they had just fined him for no tachograph (how thoughtful of them) I have since spoken to both vosa and ifor williams about this, vosa essex office said it doesn't matter if the plated weight is 3500kg so long as the trailers gross does not go over the truck plated towing weight, and somewhere I have this in writing from them. However Ifor williams had a different take on it and said it appears that different counties have a different opinion on the law, and they are currently trying to get clarification on it, however if it is a problem they will make a new plate for the trailer, but it has to be fitted at an ifor dealer (iirc the dealer wanted £15 so get & fit the plate)
  8. I tried to download that document on several pc's and got an error message. I don't do forestry work, mine is classed as agricultural/horticultural but you can move the produce anywhere within 100km that includes delivering to the end user. I think the grey area is if you have to be the producer of the wood.
  9. I hope everything turns out ok Andy And that is the barrier that needs to be got over imo, it's such a powerful drug that it makes you think that, but once I got my head around that and realised I must be pretty stupid if I really think I like it. I chose to give up smoking the week my step dad & a friend died, not a good week but again I thought, how can a cigarette really make me feel better. For anyone giving up I wish you all the best with it, I have to be honest and say fitness wise I don't really feel much fitter, I still get out of breath really quickly, but I don't stink of smoke, and hey the roof lining in my truck isn't brown Some of you might find this a bit of a help Quitkeeper
  10. Haha feedback already left for it "this person is a crock do not buy from " SCAM" "
  11. I gave up nearly two & a half years ago, was doing 30-40 a day and had been for 31 years, I had tried loads of times before and the longest I managed was eight months, in the end I decided I couldn't keep putting my family through the huge mood swings I had whenever I gave up so decided not to bother, then a friend who had given up for 5 years suggestd I read this Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking so I did and it has totally changed the way I looked at smoking and I have never wanted to smoke since and I never really had any mood swings either, best money I have ever spent.
  12. Are those holes under the log where you missed
  13. The last time I needed to hire one was a fair time ago and I really can't remember how much it was. I know he was cheaper than doe's and doe's don't like to hire out for anything less than a week, I think he only has the one tractor now that he hires out (case mc105 iirc) He is based at Frating
  14. Thankfully not. No it was the emergency stop disabled on the remote control box, now I could be wrong and call me cynical but looks very much like it was done on purpose as the emergency stop on the remote is very easily hit, but the wires had been swaped on the relay and it was the original relay and you could see the terminal it was taken off, took ages to find out why it weren't working, I know someone who had a similar accident to you, and it may sound stupid but it was one of the reasons I got out of grinding many many years ago as more and more arb's wanted to hire it without me using it. If this was done on purpose as I suspect it was then who ever done it needs to wake up to how dangerous these machines can be.
  15. You could try Graham at G B Farm services 01206 250990 I hire from him if I ever need one.
  16. Best of luck and I hope it goes well. seeing this again has just reminded me I really should start a thread about something I discovered on a grinder I recently bought.
  17. If you want to PM me your email addy and i'll send you the parts diagram page out of the manual The blade should be a 35mm bore
  18. Has it not got a locking nut on it aswell ? Hayden saws are pretty good.
  19. I have had problems with VOSA and the ministry before as I spend most of my driving time towing a trailer, here is a link to the relevant documents that covers what the exemptions are Tachograph exemptions that are relevant are on page15 Operator licence get around's are in section page 11 The first part here is rather interesting Maximum unladen weight for 4x4 dual use vehicle I'm sure there was a maximum distance for operators licences but i'm buggered if I can find it now, will probably find it amongst my paperwork because I printed all this out for when needed. Hope that clears it up for some people. I think you will find there is a clampdown on trailers in essex, a friend got pulled on the A12 pulling a trailer the other month and was fined for not having a tacho but was not put on a weighbridge to confirm he was over 3.5ton GTW, there was a whole load of trucks & trailer owners pulled in & fined along with him and they had to have the trailers recovered because they were not allowed to carry on thier journey with them, After speaking to VOSA about this it appears that essex police need some lessons on trailer law as they also reckoned that he was illegal because he was towing a trailer plated at 3500kg with a vehicle only rated to tow 2500kg trailer even though the trailer only had a mower that weighed about 250kg on it giving a total trailer weight of around 1000kg. rambling now over
  20. Like I said it's my opinion, I find other parts of the countries landscape more inspiring than around this area, simple really. If constable and gainsborough found the landscape so good why do a lot of thier landscape works have people or other items as the main focal point ?, more so with constables work than gainsborough.
  21. Certainly not, I struggle to find anywhere around here now that inspires me especially where my photography is concerned. Flatford is a nice place, but there are few places like that in essex imo. But then thats just my opinion Hopefully off to the west coast of scotland soon though for some photography
  22. I don't know they are both flat, bland and boring
  23. It's nice there, last time we went was in the winter and it was deserted.
