  1. Good truck but my 09 plate tdci is way too highly geared for towing at full capacity, my 02 plate gearbox much lower geared and was a dream to tow with, not sure what year they changed over to the higher ratio box though.
  2. Usually the true account user has been hacked hence they use a different email and generally tell you they don't answer via ebay contact seller as it draws attention to to true account holder if you used the usual method
  3. I don't know I could be wrong but that listing screams scam to me Edit: nick channer beat me to it
  4. That is rather nice and rather tempting, but common sense will get the better of me Iveco 4x4 tipper
  5. Mine arrived last week, wish I had looked in here first as I paid £75 for mine, but still worth every penny.
  6. If it's a calor bottle and empty you should be able to take any size bottle and pay for a full one of the size you require, although I have heard that some calor dealers are getting a bit funny about doing that now.
  7. If ever you were involved in a serious accident a vehicle inspector would probably easily realise it isn't an official land rover chassis which could lead to all sorts of insurance issues, not worth the agro it could cause imo, hence I went with one that is produced by the land rover supplier.
  8. I purchased a 1996 130 earlier this year, tbh I paid more than I should have but was getting a bit fed up with trying to find one as it had to be a 300tdi, I paid £5200 for it but it had a recon box, transfer box and front diff, it's going through exactly what you are doing, engine is rebuilt, rear diff is rebuilt, and i'm now starting to put it back together (very slowly) I am making a demountable camper and dropside body system made for it eventually, just a word of caution, make sure that the 130 is a 3500kg version as I have come across a few that aren't also be carefull who you get the galv chassis from, richards chassis are not (or weren't) type approved and are completely different to the original in the way it is manufactured. As usual the week after I bought mine another came up for less
  9. There is also Zinga, I was going to use it on some of the land bits but it's scarily expensive and fairly hard to get hold of.
  10. on a 3500kg the front axle has extension plates on the bump stops, the chassis doesn't have to be double plated as someone said the double plated are utility company spec (they rust like a bitch between the plates) I have just replaced my 130 plated with a standard one as they can't be got galvanised double plated, apart from the HD rear axle and inner helper springs thats pretty much all you need. On another note there are some 130's out there that are plated at 3050kg so just check the plate if you ever buy one.
  11. the oil change interval on earlier rangers is 6k not 10k as some one stated earlier, they are a pretty reliable bus, if it's going to be towing the earlier ones have a tendency to snap a leaf in the rear springs from new but the replacements should fix the problem.
  12. Nice looking truck, I thought about getting one instead of the 130 but then I came to my senses.
  13. Thanks for the comments I got so fed up with it at one point I nearly sold it part built on ebay Now it's done I am quite pleased with how it has turned out, but the next one will be in completely different materials. All up weight is about 650kg, the roof was pretty easy to make watertight but I done some alterations to it that isn't shown in those pics, all the roof panels now interlock, meaning it can't collapse and also making it completely watertight. Now I know what's involved I am quite happy to do another one (on a landy 130)
  14. Yes I built it, everything on the demountable market is too wide and too long to sit comfortably on the back of a euro size pickup imo. They don't seem to make much money secondhand, but I think that is partly because they are too big, at least if you make it you can make it the right size, but it's probably cheaper to buy one already done. I have been asked by a few people if I would consider taking it into production, but am still debating that one. Here a link to the build camper built and this site has some that others have built demount site
  15. And this is the crap that is teaching the children, that's scary I am very pleased to hear that the Highbury Corner magistrates court has passed the cases charged over to crown court because the crown court can dish out longer sentences.
  16. I generally keep my gob shut on topics like this but this will do our economic recovery no good at all, a law should be passed that as each of those involved are charged they should be sterilised as part of their sentence, (that's if the marksman misses) the thought of these scum having offspring scares the crap out of me. I could go on with what I really think but what good would it do. These are very sad days for this country
  17. A camon C8 or C10 from a hire shop will do the job ok, just make sure it has decent blades on it before you take it away. Howard gems are the kiddy but I think you will struggle to find one in a hire shop
  18. I have only cooked my own dinner a few times in the 15 years we have been together, couple of times when the g/f was ill and the other time was when I cooked dinner for everyone to see what they thought of my cooking
  19. Glad to hear it's all clear Andy
  20. That's interesting I had never really thought of going over the 3.5 ton gross towing vehicle weight. So if I had a 5.5 ton 4x4 iveco daily coupled to a 2.75 ton trailer that would be a payload of nearly 5 ton and an incredibly sweet setup no tachograph but an operators licence needed Now that is tempting.
  21. It's all a load of nonsense anyway, I wouldn't bother with plates to match the train weight now I have it in writing from vosa anyway. Indeed it is ifors policy only to supply the plates to a dealer, although the dealer said we could keep the old plate anyway. But yes you can fit a plate yourself if you want, if I needed one personally for £15 I would just rather have it sorted for me, I didn't think it was expensive by the time you take the cost of a plate and a set of stamps into account.
  22. They let him off of that as they had just fined him for no tachograph (how thoughtful of them) I have since spoken to both vosa and ifor williams about this, vosa essex office said it doesn't matter if the plated weight is 3500kg so long as the trailers gross does not go over the truck plated towing weight, and somewhere I have this in writing from them. However Ifor williams had a different take on it and said it appears that different counties have a different opinion on the law, and they are currently trying to get clarification on it, however if it is a problem they will make a new plate for the trailer, but it has to be fitted at an ifor dealer (iirc the dealer wanted £15 so get & fit the plate)
  23. I tried to download that document on several pc's and got an error message. I don't do forestry work, mine is classed as agricultural/horticultural but you can move the produce anywhere within 100km that includes delivering to the end user. I think the grey area is if you have to be the producer of the wood.
  24. I hope everything turns out ok Andy And that is the barrier that needs to be got over imo, it's such a powerful drug that it makes you think that, but once I got my head around that and realised I must be pretty stupid if I really think I like it. I chose to give up smoking the week my step dad & a friend died, not a good week but again I thought, how can a cigarette really make me feel better. For anyone giving up I wish you all the best with it, I have to be honest and say fitness wise I don't really feel much fitter, I still get out of breath really quickly, but I don't stink of smoke, and hey the roof lining in my truck isn't brown Some of you might find this a bit of a help Quitkeeper
  25. Haha feedback already left for it "this person is a crock do not buy from " SCAM" "
