  1. I looked at a lucas or peterson, where they appear to come into thier own is where access is limited and for slabbing lumps bigger than you can fit on a bandsaw mill, but from what I have seen slabbing with the add on attachment is very slow, like everything there are for and against arguements with both.
  2. That is a truly stunning piece of work, very talented.
  3. Albion chemicals might sort you out depending on how much you want. I have had a fair bit to do with bio, have made a few processors, but it isn't worth the hastle involved in collecting the waste oil imo (getting covered in the stuff no matter how hard you try to keep things clean) my personal opinion on it is that it should be made in places that are approved to store and handle chemicals such as methanol and lye, there are too many people out there doing it who have no idea how damaging/dangerous methanol can be and I find it hard to believe that in this day and age any tom, dick or harry can get it and pump it's vapours into the air, in the middle of a housing estate. I learnt by an accident just how bad & scary methanol poisoning can be. OK i'm off my soapbox now Good bio can be run in pretty much anything, I am going to be running my landy on bio when it's done, but it is being supplied by someone I know who does it commercially, but I will still water test a sample from every IBC before I accept it. Unless things have changed your 2500 litre duty free is only if you are producing it yourself After my accident I just run my WVO system and used a 50/50 mix in one of my irrigation pumps with a duetz engine and it eventually started gumming up the exhaust valves and exhaust stack pipe, I also run it in my Same tractors and they loved it. Just to add that again unless things have changed since I got out of it mixing used engine oil or kerosene and using it on the road is just as bad as running on red, it hasn't had the full duty paid on it so is illegal.
  4. i'll up it to £12
  5. I was going to do this with an ifor, probably still will at some point but I might be able to get away with mid mounting mine, there are a few cranes that will fit nicely but as skyhuck says nose weight is a problem but it's just one of many problems putting a pretty big crane on a trailer, you are looking at anywhere around 500-700kg all up with stabilisers, to make it stable it really needs 4 legs. The best crane that suited what I needed was the palfinger PK2900 which is a nice light crane but finding a s/h one is virtually impossible also a hiab 027 both have decent reach and lift capacity for a trailer.
  6. I am looking for the perfect sawmill and have come to the conclusion there isn't one lucas and peterson are a great idea because you can build them up around the log if access is tricky but as I have just found out petersons slabbing unit is not CE approved I am not sure about the lucas, peterson do the dedicated slabber but it's aother £11k on the price of the swingmill, the other thing with both slabber attachments is kerf and speaking to someone today who has used one they are slower than an alaskan, plus side is speed of being able to cut constructional size timber also the ability to add to the track length is handy. So bandsaws, the only one that appears to be mobile is the trekkasaw but there isn't a lot of info out there on how easy they are to move and set up, I am now looking at a woodmizer LT40 but it only has a 28" cutting width so not really what I am looking for. i'm at a bit of a loss with it at the minute, the trekkasaw is looking the best but appears to have limited track length and also the issue that twmarriott said, If I had time I would consider making one that fits all the requirements I need but of course that won't be CE approved so limited to use, and besides I have way too many other projects on the go at the moment.
  7. Using a 4" disc on the bench grinder is enough to give it the dish it needs, there is a fair bit of tungsten on them, the only problem I have heard of with grinding them is that as they get ground down they get slightly narrower due to them being tapered slightly and someone said that when they get down a bit it starts slowly wearing the retaining nut away. I don't run greenteeth, this is what I found out about them when I was considering going over to them, but decided to stick with standard teeth because I can just touch them up during the day with a angle grinder.
  8. Fiskars X27 for me, trouble is after I let my lad use mine while I was doing something else I had to buy another one, certainly makes life a bit easier.
  9. I thought you needed a bench grinder setup to do greenteeth because the tooth is dish shaped, I would imagine it's quite hard to get the dish angle uniform using an angle grinder by hand. There is a picture of how it's done on the greenteeth website iirc.
  10. Can you be a bit more specific as to where it is between colchester and sudbury (PM me where and a number) as I occasionaly get people/customers ask me if I know of anywhere, and i'll just pass your number on to them.
  11. I just tried to buy mine but the visa verification site is down so it's screwing up getting them atm
  12. unless the flywheel is cracked just get it skimmed.
  13. I had enough so went in today and got a load of mowing done, then came back and put some more of the landy front axle together.
  14. Two pairs of jeans, an LED torch, and a t-shirt with dragons on it (I like my dragons) oh and the usual socks
  15. From the photo that looks in good bodywork condition. Same's are good tractors aswell, I sold my durado 70 last year as part of my scale down but kept my explorer 2, nearly 10k hours on the clock and still mechanicly like new. You could try Blakewell services for a loader 01271 375 947 they are in your part of the world, I will have a word with my friend who is a same dealer locally when I see him next and see if he knows of a loader but there aren't many same's left in this area now.
  16. Zetors are bullet proof, I had one with a loader that we abused to hell loading a soil screen, started every time, haha we even sheared the front axle mount off it one day and just welded it back in place and carried on, I finally got rid of it last year for more money than I paid for it 15 years ago, it went to poland for spares
  17. Tonights collection is turkey oak, hawthorn and birch, but it's got unbearably hot in here now so I am going to let it go out.
  18. whatever they are you have to take your hat off to whoever loaded them
  19. Just out of interest are you diverting to a virgin mobile phone ? Calls from a virgin landline to virgin mobile are free but I could never get a definate answer from virgin if it included diverted calls to a virgin mobile.
  20. Diverting calls from a BT landline is an expensive game, you get billed on your BT bill the cost of the call to the mobile. Personally I think there is still a stigma attached to using a mobile number. I switched about six months ago to this with vodafone costs me £55 + vat a month I have 7 geographical numbers linked to the one mobile number and each number has a prefix so I know what number has been called, that also includes unlimited minutes to most numbers and texts, all diverted calls are free, it roughly going to save me about £500 a year
  21. Burning a bit of a mix of london plain, cherry, birch, willow and turkey oak, has been burning nice tonight.
  22. I had thought about buying an rb44 for my next camper build, but after reading up on them thought I would leave well alone, brakes were and apparently still are an issue, front axle as someone else said is a special and you can't get bits , apparently quite a few got slightly cannibalised to keep the others going so you need to be careful you ain't buying one thats been bodged to sell, read up on the amount of time they have been laid up and it's worrying. From what I could make out is if you could find one that was owned by a utility company they were slightly better
  23. My Villager whistles some days, although not overly loud it's enough to get a bit annoying after a while, on mine it's because all the door seals need doing, gets worse as the fire gets hotter.
  24. I have a murex tradesmig 240 which is pretty good for single phase, I picked it up s/h years ago from the people I used to do a bit of fitting/engineering work for so knew what it was like and jumped at the chance to buy it.
