  1. the system is so corrupt that the whole lot needs binning.....an absolute farsical procedure votes bought and sold, and more lies than a story telling contest, its time every voting card had a last line entry "none of the above", and if it scored more than 30% of the vote, every candidate booted out and a fresh round with new people tried again, oh and as a question to all you folk that think we as a country get subsdised from the rest.........some hard and proven figures please, not ones dreamed up by political parties or mass media
  2. Big J, I believe you are refering to the Darrien Gap fiasco in your quote, yes it nearly bankruptred scotland and was one of the factors leading to the union of parliaments, but as the union was never properly implemented, the terms werent followed as it was written and the whole thing wasdone to benifit england, its a bit one sided, how about when england was bankrupt and sold out the entire populaton on the international stock exchange of the time~(this is the reason birth certifcates were introduced, selling the entire population of the country into servitude) , nothing said about this, or the fact that scotland is the olny member of the union with a positive GDP, and actually sends more money south than it gets back despite what the media might want you to think......and as for our "shared debt" why should we pay for crossrail and the hst, it doesnt benifit scotland, actually it doesnt benifit most of england....omly the tory rich home counties, Ive done my reseach and looked at both sides and as I said all we've ever been is a cash cow, a sorce of cannon fodder for the military , and a place for rich aristocracy to have hunting estates, displacing thousands off the land......bring on independanceand all the benifits it will bring saor alba
  3. so, your willing to sucombe to the constant barage of lies and deceit we, as a nation has been fed for the last 300 years, or since the farsical so called union of parliaments, the first of the lies....the "great " union has only ever had one use for scotland, as a source of easy taxation and to prop up the sweet homeland that surounds london, we are the only country in the world which has oil reserves, and food banks and child poverty, most of the oil revenue went into proping up the city of london and the home conties.....what did scotland get in return, to be guinea pigs for the poll tax, come the elections on the 12thdec, we shall see what the feelings of the people of scotland are, till then its only theorys and polls, and funny how england has supported every other member of the great british comenwealth who saught independance, except for one, its cash cow
  4. before you even get the invertor/converter, how big is your single phase supply, something that big is going to need at least a 40A supply, remember with inverters youll need a transformer to up the supply to 415 before you feed the inverter, it gets complicated, especially with older non dual voltage motors
  5. build your own out of whatever timber you have around, all it costs is the screws to hold it together
  6. as i keep saying, this is a money making con for some wise guys,
  7. just makes you wonder though, if mercedes were to rise to the challenge with a unimog..........
  8. aldi's new range is called ferex, and carry the same 3 year warranty as before, they also have spare batteries in store, for occasional use there fine, and with the warranty, no loss.........for pro use, milwaukee or dewalt, whichever is your nearest main dealer(forget screwfix or toolstation, you can get better deals from a main dealer, plus the backup)
  9. Ive said this before, this ticket game has been dreamed up to make someone money.....if Im ever asked for any of them I say no, when told I cant get on site, I dont even argue, just ask for there name and tell them I'll be invoicing the company for my wasted time to turn out, , can usually say that within 15 minutes your on site cutting timber with no hassles......money is the only factor affecting any site these days
  10. guys, take a tip from the old tractor boys, when you mount your timber crane on the 3 point linkage, fit 2 side bars from the top mount to the lift arms, locks the whole assy solid and theres no side sway......look at old pictures of grey fergies with trailer hitches fitted
  11. looking at that TotT video, I would hazard a gues that its a lot better put together than the woodpecker version, its running the same type of slider mechanismns that are used in the diy cnc builds, and looking at the speed and freedom ov movement, the builder has gotten them pretty well dialed in
  12. to be sucsessfull your looking at routers of at least 2 1/2 hp upwards, and carbide bits, lots of, and, this bit for gobbypunk, most of the ally framing is designed to be bolted into framework, ther are all sorts of brackets for this purpose, good luck if you decide to go for it, its surprising what can be built.....and automated
  13. oh and as an afterthought......for a little extra, 2 stepper motors, some bits of toothed belt,a copy of Mach 3, some sundry hardware and an old pc....you've got a cnc machine, does the work while you do something else
  14. have a good look on the internet in the various home build cnc sites, youll find all the ally extrusion types, mounts and slider bits, they're easy to build with the right bits, I've no pictures but I built something similar for routing out pockets in big slabs to fit interpretation boards sub flush for a client......stops the neds ripping the artwork off the panels, you can also get router bits specifically designed for milling from axminster power tools......but trust me on this one, your either working outdoors, or getting one very large extraction system.......its nearly as bad as a 12" planer
  15. where you based stuart, Ill keep my ears open and ask a few "characters " I know round here........cumnock, south west
  16. Ty look at the 6" chipper available from woodland mills.......good kit and properly priced
  17. check your sharpening, theres at least one tooth a different length there
  18. there are plenty of very large planers and thicknessers lying rusting away in the old estate sawmills, most were run off flat belts from either the tractor or steam............the good old days of self sufficiency
  19. just remember whatever weight your towing with the tractor your maximum speed is 25mph, irrespective of what gearbox is in it
  20. the ultimate sharpening system is a tormek wet grinder..........but you might as well cut off an arm to pay forit, fortunatley, axminster power tools now have a "copy" os the same at a fraction of the price, and all the tormek jigs fit it!!!!, you will be able to sharpen all your lathe tools, carving chisels, knives, axes, and basically anyting with an edge, and hone it as well, I waited 4 years for the copy to hit the market and was not dissapointed with it
  21. 100% with rob on that one......Ive been cutting for 40 years now, and crosscut chains, a few wipes with a file and there fine, but milling chains, if there not spot on......welcome to a world of grief, I dont care how good you are you'll never match the acuracy of the machine, and when your doing a lot of milling, it can actually work out quicker
  22. find this can be a problem on some of the hardwoods, oak, elm, sometimes ash if its been down long, and beech, I usually run 4 chains at a time, when one becomes blunt, changing it out for a sharp one, I drop the chains into a bucket of kero and let it soak, when its time to sharpen, chain out of the kero, a quick run through a rag and a brish down with an old brass wire bush I have, this, I find cleans off all the cooked on crud and allows a good inspection whilst sharpening, the chain change routine also allows me to clean and turn the bar at the same time, doesnt take long and gives the saw a break as well

    Loler

and why shouldnt a company use its own employees as an inspector, "a competent person familiar with the equipment being checked", someone who uses, and checks the stuff every day fully fills this requirement, Id rather have this aproach than some independant guy who is only in it for the money. on my own kit I carry out all my own loler checks, on climbing and lifting kit, on my atlas crane , and even though its exempt on my farmi timber crane, if it needs something , it gets it, not only is it possibly an accident prevented, it is my own peace of mind, in this game like many others, your only as good as your last job, and if its one plauged with breakages and problems, word soon gets round
  24. from someone whos been at it a long time...........dont even consider a change ........underpaid, over subscribed, treated like unwanted, and to get your qualifications these days, shouldering a huge debt, not the cheery happy devil may care business people think it is
  25. the millitary rate it for 10 ton, so god knows what it'll really carry
