  1. the spares for the woodland mill come from the european supplier in sweden, not the us, and the run of the mill bits, ie belts and bearings are std parts obtainable from most bearing supply shops, not specialist parts like WM or timbrey
  2. swings and roundabouts, both systems will produce good timber, yes the bandmill will be a little quicker, but will requiree a bit more work to finish the surface, the logosol, with the right angle on the chain will give a finish that only requires a quick sanding, fuel usage depends on what saw your going to use as opossed to a 4stroke kohler 9.5hp engine, the logosol wins on portability, but a good trailer base means the woodland mill isnt far behind

    1st post

I bought one as well Lee, not used it yet as I havent finished the trailer for it, but looking forward to it
  4. I have actually moved away from timber and now use plastic conduit, totally dry, now staining , and every bit is the same size, mind you i do have a source for lots of free bits, the other source I had was for pallet boards, straight from the manufacturer, but they make good kindling now
  5. timbermacpherson, to fit linkage to the front of your 1300l, you have 2 options, genuine merc bits, expensive and difficult to source all the bits 2nd hand, and doesnt have a great lift height, atkinson vos setup, still pricey, double ram instead of 1, but a better range of movement, if you already hav hydraulics, no problems, if not..., belt driven pump at the front + oil tank+ spool valves, or if you have the pre install, an n16 pto pump on the gear box+ oil tank + spool valves, have a look on the mercedes benz forum, there is a section for unimogs, mostly americans wanting to go faster, but a lot of good tech info if you look
  6. thought the question with mogs had been sorted ages ago foresty work =ag and red, no domestic arb work = "o" licence and white, classed as a truck, 7.5 tonne or greater
  7. your going to need a very very big generator to run that !
  8. most of the injuries that occur in the forrestry sector are machine or transport based, there are very few saw operations left in large scale commerciall foresttry these days,
  9. if the photos are telling the truth, theres a pto takeoff on that vehicle as well, centre lock and rear lock on the diffs, well worth the money......move to a merc, you'll never entertain a LR again!
  10. I would not be involved with anything FISA has touched, there is so much in house fighting that the whole thing will implode in the not to distant future, it is not being run to promote safety, rather to financially benifit certain large contractors, till it becomes a seperate body, financed by subscriptions, and not dependant on those who seek to control a certain part of what is in effect a publicly owned resource, it will be nothing but a bag of sh1t....please excuse my language
  11. so, when are they going to come out and tell the truth about the emission levels from petrol engines running on modern lead free, ethanol laden "clean " petrol.....the REAL NOX producers?.......once again the media pushing there biased ideals on the box watching sheeple
  12. sorn it and ignore the fine, as legally only a court can apply a fine, DVLA are like all the rest these days, trying to screw you out of money
  13. he does a grand job, with little enough thanks, you done good mate.!
  14. twice I have been called out to a site to do an emergency clear on a fallen(knocked over) tree, twice I have been asked for a CSCs card, my std replyis what the fuc* do I need one of those for, I'm a tree cutter, not a building site worker, Oh you cant get on the site without one, ok, goodbye, I'll send you my bill for calling me out and wasting both our time, .....ahh, your not going to cut the tree, no youve just told me I need a stupid bit of paper to get on your site, ehhhh, we'll let it go this time, just cut the tree down as quick as you can, its holding up the site...........time = money, and money is god on all these sites, the site managers all sh1t themselves when it looks like there going to have to go over budget
  15. dont knock china, the castings for some of the most precise machine tools are made in china, as was said earlier, you get what you pay for
  16. it does not matter 1 iota what the max on the trailer is, your max is what the vehicle is allowed to tow, provided it does not exceed the plated trailer limit, and remains within your licence allowances, please read the goverment website carefully
  17. flying rats breed all year round, no season for them
  18. where does my chevy k30 (ex military cucv) fall into that list then, apart from being a "proper" pick up
  19. nice self contained unit, a little deviousness by fitting it in an old ecu casing and it would be totally covert
  20. why no comments on his other saws, with the rest of the kit he has listed it looks genuine
  21. never going to hapen, to many lords are big landowners/farmers, and the cost to them will not be acceptable, plus how can you "mot" a vehicle when there are no standards to test to, do you ban all older tractors off the road, do you only allow "newish" trailers, what about towed implements, to many problems, the law as it stands is clear, no suspension, no exceed 20mph, if more fines were imposed for breaking it, the farming comunity would start to comply
  22. there saying it could be worse tonight, hope not, looks like we escaped down here, not a lot of carnage, a few trees down, will have to and check our felling sight tommorow, on past blows I'm expecting a lot down, took 3 weeks to clear the last lot up
  23. any of your local commercial vehicle parts suppliers should be able to help, it is after all a european machine, as are volvo, scania, iveco, and these parts companies can supply parts for all these, why should a renault be any different
  24. just dont burn it in an open fire, for all that eucy is benificial when in "medicines and things", the smoke of it can be very irritating to both eyes and chest, the wood remains quite oily when dry and it burns really well, if a little hot
  25. hope you claimed your tax relief on them....................the machines , not the knickers.....lol
