    Transit Thefts

a hidden ignition device in the fuel tank linked the brake light , they steal the van, first time they touch the brakes...boom...no more tealeaf, and a nice new vehicle on the innsurance
  2. Im curently milling 116 larch logs for a log cabin build, all in the 10-12 inch range, great stuff to work with, when used outside larch will last a very long time with no other treatments
  3. there not far from you, give them a bell and go up and see one in action, they were operating out of a farm near lesmahagow last I knew
  4. get a good 4x4, and a 338, no need to venture far from the path then, just need someone to fetch them back!
  5. tourniquets are great, but learn how , and more importantly where to apply them, they were frowned upon for a long time, but with the increased trauma effects being seen in various military theatres are coming back into use, find a first aid trainer who is familiar with there use, and the various haemostatic compounds (celox) and geat some training in there use, you never know when you might need to use them. I really think the introduction of the EFAW+F course will prove invaluable in getting more of our trade up to a higher level of first aid ability than was generally avaiable with the old "green box course", there are some even better courses out there, but these start going to levels close to trauma treatment, hopefully no-one should ever need these, but do your research, remember it might be you requiring the treatment, so dont scrimp on your first aider training

4x2 box with 5mm wall, 2x2 box again with 5mm wall, and 1x1 box, 3.2 wall as per the drawing on woodmills site, £240 including delivery, I've went for 750kg unbraked indispension units,(calculated the weight will be a round 600kg) so no need for brakes, Ive stuck to the drawing except for the axle position, the americans can get away with a non suspended version, I'm mooving towards the rear by 8" to make it a lot more stable. also adding 4 more levelling legs equi spaced to support any really heavy loads, It should have been finished by now, but I'm up to my ears in building a log cabin that was pushed back from october last year, 5 more weeks before I can get back into it
  8. the spares for the woodland mill come from the european supplier in sweden, not the us, and the run of the mill bits, ie belts and bearings are std parts obtainable from most bearing supply shops, not specialist parts like WM or timbrey
  9. swings and roundabouts, both systems will produce good timber, yes the bandmill will be a little quicker, but will requiree a bit more work to finish the surface, the logosol, with the right angle on the chain will give a finish that only requires a quick sanding, fuel usage depends on what saw your going to use as opossed to a 4stroke kohler 9.5hp engine, the logosol wins on portability, but a good trailer base means the woodland mill isnt far behind

I bought one as well Lee, not used it yet as I havent finished the trailer for it, but looking forward to it
  11. I have actually moved away from timber and now use plastic conduit, totally dry, now staining , and every bit is the same size, mind you i do have a source for lots of free bits, the other source I had was for pallet boards, straight from the manufacturer, but they make good kindling now
  12. timbermacpherson, to fit linkage to the front of your 1300l, you have 2 options, genuine merc bits, expensive and difficult to source all the bits 2nd hand, and doesnt have a great lift height, atkinson vos setup, still pricey, double ram instead of 1, but a better range of movement, if you already hav hydraulics, no problems, if not..., belt driven pump at the front + oil tank+ spool valves, or if you have the pre install, an n16 pto pump on the gear box+ oil tank + spool valves, have a look on the mercedes benz forum, there is a section for unimogs, mostly americans wanting to go faster, but a lot of good tech info if you look
  13. thought the question with mogs had been sorted ages ago foresty work =ag and red, no domestic arb work = "o" licence and white, classed as a truck, 7.5 tonne or greater
  14. your going to need a very very big generator to run that !
  15. most of the injuries that occur in the forrestry sector are machine or transport based, there are very few saw operations left in large scale commerciall foresttry these days,
  16. if the photos are telling the truth, theres a pto takeoff on that vehicle as well, centre lock and rear lock on the diffs, well worth the money......move to a merc, you'll never entertain a LR again!
  17. I would not be involved with anything FISA has touched, there is so much in house fighting that the whole thing will implode in the not to distant future, it is not being run to promote safety, rather to financially benifit certain large contractors, till it becomes a seperate body, financed by subscriptions, and not dependant on those who seek to control a certain part of what is in effect a publicly owned resource, it will be nothing but a bag of sh1t....please excuse my language
  18. so, when are they going to come out and tell the truth about the emission levels from petrol engines running on modern lead free, ethanol laden "clean " petrol.....the REAL NOX producers?.......once again the media pushing there biased ideals on the box watching sheeple
  19. sorn it and ignore the fine, as legally only a court can apply a fine, DVLA are like all the rest these days, trying to screw you out of money
  20. he does a grand job, with little enough thanks, you done good mate.!
  21. twice I have been called out to a site to do an emergency clear on a fallen(knocked over) tree, twice I have been asked for a CSCs card, my std replyis what the fuc* do I need one of those for, I'm a tree cutter, not a building site worker, Oh you cant get on the site without one, ok, goodbye, I'll send you my bill for calling me out and wasting both our time, .....ahh, your not going to cut the tree, no youve just told me I need a stupid bit of paper to get on your site, ehhhh, we'll let it go this time, just cut the tree down as quick as you can, its holding up the site...........time = money, and money is god on all these sites, the site managers all sh1t themselves when it looks like there going to have to go over budget
  22. dont knock china, the castings for some of the most precise machine tools are made in china, as was said earlier, you get what you pay for
  23. it does not matter 1 iota what the max on the trailer is, your max is what the vehicle is allowed to tow, provided it does not exceed the plated trailer limit, and remains within your licence allowances, please read the goverment website carefully
  24. flying rats breed all year round, no season for them
  25. where does my chevy k30 (ex military cucv) fall into that list then, apart from being a "proper" pick up
