  1. have you not tried the snail cam shaped holders yet Teed, they wrk well on odball shaped large logs
  2. ordered a new milling bar from Rob on monday after damaging one , and its here today, wed, before the postman...very big thankyou to yourself, Rob, youve saved the day..
  3. google parquip, small outfit, much better service, and a lot cheaper, or howford hydraulics, similar setup to parquip
  4. you could have problems getting 7mtr lengths, 4,9mtr is std, where you based
  5. normally greenheart springs to mind if its used on sea/coastal work, but it doesnt look like that, what did it smell like when you were cutting it?
  6. if you google yankee sawmills inserted blade saws, youll turn up quite a few suppliersthe system was very popular up until bandsaws became popular. you will need to find the size and type of both the holder and the insert, and the "set" pattern, watching these type of mills in action is mesmerising, but its only when you actually see how much of the blade is unused that you start to see why they fell out of favour. good luck on your quest, and have fun
  7. a little digging on the registers will get you all the information you require, police forces, courts, councills, (athough some have gotten wise and are now non limited componies, a little more difficult to find, but look for cheif execs on registers, they still show up) the major political parties, united kingdom ltd (dont believe me, look it up), every one of them are out to make a profit off our backs.....power breeds corruption, absolute power=total corruption
  8. the police forces in the UK are now ltd companies interested in only one thing, making money, theres not a lot to be made investigating crimes when time can be better spent harrasing and fleecing motorists and sheeple in the cities, we are slowly returning to a asystem where, unless you pay for private security forces, you will have no protection. Our caravan dwelling friends realised this years ago and started to make the best of it, the eastern europeans are just following on on there heels. unless you start talking protection of your own property into your own hands, you are going to keep getting fleeced, and even if it comes to the use of force, be prepared to go there
  9. our local waste site started a booking scheme, any van, signwritten car, or trailer combination, had to book a time to dump waste.....started taking my rubbish in the mog, stroppy council git started ranting and raving, I simply pointed at the sign and asked him to show me, in writing, where it said no tractors, and that first thing in the morning I would be going to see his boss about his attitude to members of the public at a public facillity
  10. after many frustrating years of dealing with company H&S tw@ts, I have developed a method of dealing with them, after doing a risk assesment for a job, I get in touch with the H&S executive (the real deal) and ask them if its ok, sofar not one has required anything added, in fact some have been termed a little to in depth, I then stick it in to who ever I'm doing the job for, and if they come back asking for more, I ask under what authority, and the mention of fraudulant missrepresentation, remember these idiots are company employees, not H&S employees, and are only trying to justify there jobs
  11. all hail the nanny state........lol
  12. agrimog

    Yew timber

inch, inch and half, and two and half, this will allow for some planing to finished size, and also re-saw if requried, mill it, stack it, and strap it under cover, but with good through ventilation
  13. naer cast a cloot tae may is oot.......its scotland we live in, I've seen it snowing in mid june, never mind april,
  14. logosol is a norwood, they import them into the UK, there is plenty of small to medium bandmills on the market at the moment, but as you get to larger and longer, the price goes up, I ws standing open mouthed today looking at a double slabber mill ...built with 2, yes 2, stenner 48 band mill heads.................
  15. no schools to train anyone in woodwork anymore, I sugest you try and find a carpenters shop, or furniture repairer and ask if anyone could help you out, you might even be lucky and find an old school window frame maker.....and no the bad news, I just picked up a Sedgwick GW3 spindle moulder today, cost me a whole £200, ok needs a little tidying up, but what a bargain
  16. there is a constant ongoing debate about what oil to put in mog transmissions, the only constant is that it MUST be a GL4, and NOT GL5, syntrans, same oil as the engine(ex military), millars synth, the recomendation from mercedes is SAE 80W/85W
  17. before you go and buy an inverter, which will hammer the battery life by the way, find out if you can get a dc-dc adapter, these are available steping up as well as down
  18. and cos there tractors......boris's stupid rules dont effect them
  19. a good turbo will be water cooled anyway, and re-introducing waste gas back into the inlet tract is done for only one reason...get the emissions down, pre euro regulations, diesels used to regulary get crazy millages with no problems, once the "boffins" started screwing around with fuelling and all the other crap they've done modern diesels arent any better than the petrol engines, all the crap the idiots try preaching about emissions affecting the atmosphere, just think on the facts, every time a volcano erupts, it produces more co2, methane nox, and all the other so called bad gasses, in 30 seconds , than man has produced since he first walked on the planet. and how many eruptions take place every day
  20. my rowin was limited to pulling an 18' clinker built boat up and down a loch for a couple of hours every day after work trying to catch some stupid fish, sometimes these days I wonder who was stupider, the fish or me......lol
  21. I so want the jumbo log, if only to throw at folk
  22. try googling a company called parquip, there prices are really good, they've managed to beat every quote I've had for hoses and fittings, and for your information manuli hoses are made in italy by the same factory that makes pirelli stuf(what the ripoff merchants pirtek sell), it is available from most hydraulic suppliers
  23. very very nice, that log is a prime subject for veneer, that would create some beautifull tops and panels
  24. has anyone asked to see the title deeds for the land that actually state the LA own it......for as far as I have been informed a council can not own anything, they can only hold property in trust for the public there members represent, the next one is find out if the council is registred as a ltd company, then you have a cae for fraudulant missrepresentation of your interests against them
  25. timbernut, you say the larch was felled in a P Ramorum area, did you not have problems with movement authorisations for infected timber, I thought all the bark had to be removed, or the timber proccesed on site if your outside the control zone ( check the latest FC maps), not many sawmills will touch infected timber because of the costs involved in the equipment cleanup, you would be better trying to find someone with a large mobile setup willing to process on site, there would be much better returns on proccesed "clean" larch, (cladding, decking, anything involving external use), than infected timber destined for bio-mass
