1. happy customers = good feed back, always remember your only as good as your last job !!!, keep up the good work
2. what powder are the coaters using, some are more sutible for outdoor use than others, some are almost like a plastic coating, those are what you want. sory Tony, but these days a landy just doesnt stack up....., (and cos I use it for forestry, it ticks all the boxes.....lol)
3. every chance you'll get an age related plate for a tractor as they're not transferable so have no "real" value, can you not get a letter from the manufacturer confirming its build date, or club, if there is one
4. be carefull on your sizes if you go the agri route, there is limitations for younger drivers, even with full licences if under 21
5. it might, did you remember to alternate the growth rings, ie, 1 up 1 down,1up, this helps to prevent the warping a bit as well, I would be inclined to put some very thin cuts on the back, maybe 2 per board, and remember treat the back to the same finish as the front, this also helps, best of luck, wanut should look really nice, deep warm brown colour
6. gobbypunk, you need to look for someone doing chemical blacking for your screws, its a coating that actually bonds onto the metal. if you look on the back of solid timber flooring, there is usually some slots milled into the boards, these are to stop crowning with changing humidity, so it might work on your larger slabs. Ive run a thin kerf saw blade nearly all the way through some boards, then filled the slot with resin based glueand clamped them up till it drys as a way of combatting warping and cupping on some wide boards...it still seems to be working after a couple of years
7. used to get bags full of something like silica gell, you heated them up in the ovenand placed them in the wet boots, dried them out without damaging the leather, havent seen anything like them for years,
8. what hitch is on your mog, this will dictate your maximum weight, and as your using for domestic, not agg, or forestry, you better be very certain you get everything spot on, anything over 20mph, air brakes, correct speed ratings on tyres, all lights ok, basicly to full commercial stds, and plated to boot!!!. your best bet would be to look for one of the 4 wheeled european style drawbar trailers, less weight on drawbar, and suit the mog perfectly
9. my hiab lives on a mog !, it goes where landys fear to tread....lol..set up purposely for the milling akward to get timber, and if its to tricky, the winch pulls 5 ton over to where it can be worked
10. heres a quik photo of the last one, it's used as an outdoor classroom for woodland education
11. cabin timber is done on the logosol Lee, it allows me to run profile blades in the planer head to make the horizontal joints, plus it has 6.5 mtr capacity, bandsaw will be busy after the cabin, oak benches and posts, then a big elm for stock, some cherry, and pippy oak as well. so aye, I'll be busy.......lol
12. quickest and easiest, find someone with a metalworker, cuts and punches holes, no need to drill, or look at anyone spoecialisng in the marine side of metalwork, or perhaps the fancy achetectural bits. like your idea of csunk holes, the right punch set up on a metalworker would create "dimpled" holes, allowing positive location on the wood, just need to csnk the wood
13. looking good Lee, making me hungry for mine now
14. need to get yourself something with a hiab on it Tony, best investment I ever made, can lift the logs onto the mill, and the cut slabs off, and then place the finished bits into place
15. biggarlogs, need to have timber on site in longridge by 3rd nov, and at the moment I'm up to my eyes in it through here in ayrshire with some big hardwood fells, or Id be through in a shot. will get back to you though. woodwasp, I actually mean dbh, the logs go up and are milled on the logosol to give me "slabs" 150mm thick and parallel, with a key in them, 5mtr is as short as I can "squeeze the corner joints in with minimun overhang, I'm being held to quite tight sizes by the site designer as it all ties in to other bits on it. cheers for the help guys Paul
16. battery grinder and 1mm sliting discs are quicker than a key these days, more rather than bigger and stronger,
17. aye, will give him a shout, he might be able to help, cheers
18.

stephen, whats the chance youve still got that timber, the headmistress at the school the cabin was plannedd for has forced a chang of mind from the planners and its a go ahead again

cheers

19. right guys, need some help here, earlier in the year, had submited a quote with a consultant and company to build a cabin, was looking good to go right up to the local council planning muppet said no, had timber orginised,he killed the project. but unknown , the locals and someone high up have overulled this muppet and the project is back on, so now, I urgently require some, well a lot of timber, 100 5mtr lengths of 10" - 12" DBH softwood reasonably local to the west calder region of west lothian, this is to construct a log cabin for a local primary school and community group, helping get the children and parents get into outdoor pursuits. If anyone cane help out with contacts, or knows of suppliers, who could supply, not free, this is a paying request, we will pay current rates, it would be greatly appreciated thanks Paul:thumbup1:
20. lt has always been the sellers right to dictate the selling terms,......but the buyer can take there cash somewhere else, Stihl are starting to realise this
21. all that is required is a unique serial no or marking for traceability, lollered on condition at presentation, simple
22. do I see a green roof on the garage, nice touch
23. britain is the only place where the trees are brashed, its cause the operators are lazy ,the arms will pull the cutter head in tight, and run it through no problem
24. saying the mog cant pull out the trailer at full load, recon more down to the type of hitch thats fitted, this style of mog is capable of pulling 1000tons of trainwith the right hitch
25. yup, looked to be one of the big windscreen models, a 400 or 500 model, expensive loss
