dont know, but it seems when you hit the big 50, somebody implants an on/off switch in your bum, when I come in after a day on the mill, sit down, and it seems to switch off.......wake up a couple of hours later and wonder where its gone....lol, and I found a cure for the sprogs always on there mobile years ago.....a tri band jammer off ebay, means there phones dont work within 50yards of where I put it, its brilliant -

of course everyone knows that the "CPC", certificate of professional competence, is to bring us up to the standard of european drivers, what a joke, if this is the case why arent they teaching how to watch the telly, cook soup, and have a phone conversation, all while weaving an artic all over two lanes, these days all you require is a cheap flight to one of the eastern european countries, a made up name, and a wad of cash, turn up at one of the corner shops and purchase your "new" european hgv and cpc over the counter , wheres the problem in that, no boring classroom time, no difficult training or tests, must be a good idea, what do you think......lol

the american one at 63 tons......remember these are american tons, or short tons, as against the other at a REAL 60 tonnes, our cousins across the pond seen to forget they made all the measurements smaller so it looks more on paper

the logosol mill is excellent for doing quarter sawn stuff, as long as the blanks are longer than 75" you can handle some pretty big diameter logs, shorter lengths need a "sub table" and kind of limit the diameters, but like most things, theres workarounds

transit connect is classed as a van, so all the speed restrictions apply , caddy and berlingo are car derived vans, so normal speed limits, good to know if you do a lot of motorway and A class roads

woodland mills are quite popular in the usa as home owner/ backyard mills, quite a bit cheaper than woodmizer, check out the american milling forums

go for as good a build as you can get, the sides stop the bed twisting when its tipped with an uneven load, been there, buggered that....lol

sad to hear jeffa, but odds on its already sold on for some bags of smack -
not easy to insure a mobile mill with the normal arb insurance bods, mine is done on the buildings policy(nfu) as a named piece of movable equipment( took a little bit of sorting out due to value, and a little extra on the premium, but worth it for the security )

at 4 acres its doable with a fingermower(reaper), turn it with an old haybob, and get someone to bale it with a small square baler, if the wildflower content is right, the horsey folk will be queing up to buy them, the old implements can be picked up for buttons, a few words among the farming community should turn a few up

its also been found on douglas fir, but again it cant sporulate of them, the most of the south west of scotland including the galloway penninusla is now listed as a contaiminated area and has its own act concerning the felling and movement of timber -
as long as your not weaving in and out, its perfectly legal to undertake on a motorway or dual cariageway, its classed as continueing on your way, so when your sitting at "69mph" on the inside lane, and mr muppet is sitting at 50 in the middle, cos the insides for lorrys, innit, you can sail on past him and not bother 1 little bit

I was 11 years old when I first started using a chainsaw, a maculloch mac10 auto, no AV, no chainbreak, and a kin big 3/8 chain, granted I was watched, and well schooled in its use, back then no ppe either, you learned from your elders and developed a respect for your tools, didnt take risks, or be stupid........mind you back then we had this thing called common sense, seems to be sorely missing these days

not everything needs a pto drive, but a front linkage can be a godsend on a mog, would expect that to go for around 16-18k

go round the dealers, try them all, see what the best deals are, and get the one that ticks the most boxes for yourself, everbody has there own ideas of whats best, but there is very little difference between any of the makes these days
